Chapter 9: Chapter 7: Players and Pieces

"HEADS UP!" Ruby yells as she falls from the sky and a screaming Jaune comes in and slams into the side of her; the two fly into a tree.

Olivia cringes at the sight.

"That gotta hurt." Yin comments. 

"Do you think they're okay?" Olivia asks Yin in a worried tone.

"It's Ruby, she's fine." Yin says, then he whispers. "I think."

Olivia becomes more worries.

"Did your sister just fall from the sky?" Blake asks Yang.

"I-" Yang starts but she's cut off by an Ursa stomping out of the forest.

"Yeehaw!" Nora yells from the back of the Ursa as she rides it.

The Ursa falls to the ground, dead and Nora rolls of its back.

"Aww. It's broken." Nora says in a sad tone she zooms onto its head. "Eeeeew..."

Ren comes out of the forest and rests a hand against the Ursa as he catches his breath. "Nora? Please... don't ever do that again."

Nora zooms away and over to the relics. She looks at a golden Queen piece. "Oooooo...." She picks up the chest piece and holds it up. Then she starts to sing. "I'm Queen of the castle. I'm Queen of the castle!"

"NORA!" Ren yells.

Nora salutes. "Hehehe, coming Ren!" She skips over to Ren.

"I want to ride a Grimm!" Yin says as he looks at Yang, she just shakes her head at him.

"Did that girl just ride in on an Ursa?" Blake asks.

"I-" Yang starts but she's cut off by another Grimm screeching.

Pyrrha runs out of the forest with a Death Stalker following her. Pyrrha dodges the Death Stalker's claws and she notices Jaune up in the tree with Ruby. "Jaune!" 

"Pyrrha!" Jaune yells back.

Ruby hops down to the group.

"Ruby?" Yang questions.

"Yang!" Ruby yells and she notices Yin too. "Yin!" She throws her arms up and goes to hug the two.

But Nora comes between the three. "Nora!"

"Did she just run all the way here with a Deathstalker on her tail?" Blake asks.

Then they hear another Grimm screeching and everyone looks to see Lapis and Wisteria come flying out of the forest and land in front of the group, their aura's surrounding them.

"Lapis!" Yin yells in excitement.

Lapis looks and sees Yin. "Yin!" She yells in anger. 

Lapis gets up and walks over to Yin. "How are you L-" Yin gets cut off as Lapis punches him in the gut, causing Olivia to gasps.

"Where were you!" Lapis yells. "I wanted you as a teammate. not miss perfect and organized!" Lapis points at Wisteria, who's whipping dirt off her outfit.

Wisteria bows to the group. "It's nice to meat you all, and Lapis that was a mean comment."

Lapis huffs and crosses her arms and another deathstalker is heard screeching in the forest. 

"It's still chasing us." Wisteria informs Lapis.

"I can hear it!" Lapis says in annoyed tone.

"Did they just get launched to us by a deathstalker that was chasing them?" Black asks.

Yang growls and explodes as her eyes also turns red. "I can't take it anymore!" She yells in anger. "Could everyone just chill out for two seconds, before something crazy happens again?"

Yin raises an eyebrow as he looks at his sister. Olivia looks around in nervousness. Lapis is annoyed while Wisteria is just waiting.

Few seconds later

Ruby taps on Yin's arm. "Um... Yin? Yang?" Ruby points up and Yin looks to see Weiss hanging by the claws of a Nevermore.

"How could you leave me?!" Weiss yells and everyone looks up.

"I said 'jump'..." Ruby explains.

"She's gonna fall." Black says.

"She'll be fine."

"She's falling." Ren states.

"It's like a snowflake!" Yin says and he turns to Yang and smirks at her. "I got this."

"Sure you do." Yang says sarcastically.

Yin zooms under Weiss and he catches her. "Come around her often?"

Weiss' cheeks turn a light shade of red. "Do I know you?"

"We meet in the auditorium." Weiss is still confused. "I'm the older brother to one little Ruby?"

"Ohh.... Please put me down." 

Yang sighs and sets Weiss down and she walks over to the group. Jaune falls out of a tree behind Yin, while Pyrrha is still being chased by the deathstalker. Tree fall within the forest as the other Deathstalker gets closer.

Then Pyrrha gets launched over to the group. 

"Great!" Yang says. "The gang's all here!" Yin walks over to the group as he adjusts his scarf. "Now we can die together!"

"Yay?" Yin says in confused excitement. 

"Not if I can help it!" Ruby says and she gives a battle cry and charges at the Deathstalker.

"Ruby, wait!" The twins yells.

"Ruby, don't be stupid!" Lapis yells.

Ruby runs towards the Deathstalker and she aims Crescent Rose behind her and fires off a round, launching her towards the Deathstalker. But the deathstalker hits her with its pinches and she lands a few meters from it.

"D-Do-Don't worry!" Ruby yells to the group. "Totally fine!" She turns around and the deathstalker is right in front of her.

Ruby fires a round into the deathstalker's face, not doing anything to it and she turns around and runs away. She puts her weapon in its inactive state and runs away.

"Ruby!" The twins yell and they run towards Ruby.

"Yin!" Lapis yells.

As the three siblings run towards each other the Nevermore circles around and flies towards Ruby. The Nevermore then launches feathers towards the three, one hitting Ruby in the cape, trapping her.

Yang stops running as feathers surround her and a water dome surrounds Yin and a few feathers piece it but don't go though enough to hit Yin.

A feather stops right in front of Yin's face and he goes cross-eyed looking at the feather. Yin then releases a breath of relief as he turns around and sees Lapis with her hand out towards him.

Yin gives Lapis a thumbs up, while she gives him an angry look.

"Ruby, get out of there!" Yang yells as the water dome disperses and the feathers fall to the ground.

"I'm trying!" Ruby says as she tugs on her cape.

The Deathstalker reaches Ruby and it raises its stinger.

Yang reaches her hand out towards Ruby. "RUBY!"

Yin starts to run towards Ruby. "Ruby!"

A white blur flies past Yin and ice incases most of the Deathstalker. Yin stops running and falls to his knees.

"Dear, Oum!" Yin yells to himself. "Ruby's gonna kill me one of these days." 

"You okay, Yin?" Olivia yells from behind him.

"Yeah... just might need a change of pants." Yin yells back.

"Get your stupid ass back here!" Lapis yells.

Weiss walks past Yin. "Thank you for saving her!" Yin says to the ice queen.

"Think nothing of it." Weiss says as she walks away.

Yang runs past Yin, while grabbing his hand and they reach Ruby. The twins hug Ruby.

"So happy you're okay!" Yang says to Ruby.

"Please don't get nearly killed again." Yin says to Ruby.

"I'll try." Ruby assures Yin.

The three look up and see the Nevermore flying above them. 

Everyone regroups.

"Guys, that thing's circling back." Jaune states as he points up at the nevermore. "what are we gonna do?"

"Look, there's no sense in dilly-dallying." Weiss says to the group. "Our objective is right in front of us." She looks to the relics.

"She's right." Ruby adds. "Our mission is to grab an artifact and make it back to the cliffs." Weiss nods to her and she nods back. "There's no point in fighting these things."

"Run and live." Jaune starts. "That's is an idea I can get behind."

"Run to live another day." Olivia says. "I can also work with that."

Ruby walks over to a chess piece and grabs it.

Wisteria holds out a white pawn piece towards Lapis. "I grab ours."

"You're finally pulling your weight." Lapis says as she grabs the pawn piece.

Wisteria just sighs. 

Suddenly the Deathstalker, that was chasing Wisteria and Lapis, bursts out from the forest.

"It's found us." Wisteria informs the group.

"Time we left." Ren informs the group as the first deathstalker starts to break free from the ice.

"Right." Ruby agrees. "Let's go." She runs off.

Everyone begins to follow her, except Yin and Yang, they look at Ruby with a proud smile. 

Blake stops and walks over to the two. "What is it?"

"Nothing..." Yang says.

"Just a proud older brother." Yin adds.

The twins run off, with Blake following.

Olivia, Lapis and Wisteria follow close to Yin. Yin looks to his side and sees the Deathstalker that was chasing Lapis and Wisteria.

"We have to deal with that." He says to his group.

"I agree, if we don't it'll only cause troubles." Wisteria says.

"But aren't we running?" Olivia asks.

"Yeah, but we have to deal with it." Lapis claims. "It's going to get in our way, the others are probably gonna have to deal with the other two."

"Oh, boy." Olivia says with nervousness.

"Use hit and run tactics, keep it confused." Yin orders.

"Right." The groups says and the four turns off towards the Deathstalker.
