Xiang Ning looked at the projection and was stunned, but calmed himself after a moment. He remembered that there was a chance that a sentient AI would be present in ruins like these and he was staring at one right now.

But an AI as the captain of this ship? He had never heard of one piloting an entire ship by itself. Still, the universe was vast, so there were chances that something like that could happen. He looked at the projection and tried assessing it. Once Xiang Ning realized that the AI held no hostility to him, he continued searching for a place to hide—the monsters behind him should be arriving soon!

The AI calmed Xiang Ning down as if it knew what he was thinking. “Visitor, please don’t be alarmed. The Qiuros have been redirected by me to the other sectors of the ship. They won’t reach here.” As it said that, a video feed popped up that showed how another path had been opened for the Qiuros as the path Xiang Ning fell down was sealed. The Qiuros had been deposited in another space.

Xiang Ning looked at the complicated map. The corridors and pathways branched out like a tree as it forked every five meters or so. There were hundreds of forked paths, but all of them connected to ten different areas. He was within the centermost area, while the Qiuros were placed in the area furthest on the right.

“Th… thank you.” He wasn’t sure why the AI would help him, but he should at least thank it.

“No need for thanks. Let’s begin our training.”

“Wait a minute.” Xiang Ning felt that there was a misunderstanding. He looked at the AI who was wearing the uniform of a captain. “Training? I didn’t agree to do anything like that. I still need to get out of here. There’s still so many things I need to do outside.”

“You may not leave.”

“What? Why?”

“Let me explain this situation. This is the training room for the elites of the Hairo Empire. The walls and floor in this room were made from a special alloy.”

“Annnnnd?”

“So you have my word that the Qiuros will never be able to break into this place.”

“Have you been watching me?” Xiang Ning wasn’t an idiot. The entire space looked sealed off, and there wasn’t even a vent. With no door in sight, he had no way to escape. The captain told him that the Qiuros wouldn’t be able to enter there, but it had deliberately said so. The Qiuros were capable of tearing through metal walls!

The captain didn’t reply. “The training will be beneficial for you. There won’t be a downside. As long as you train here, your strength will increase dramatically, and there’s sufficient food and water here for you.”

“Are you trying to use me to kill off the Qiuros? Why can’t you do it yourself? I don’t believe in free stuff that’s beneficial for me. Why should I trust you?”

“You have no choice.”

The AI had finally revealed its true colors.

“Shit!” Xiang Ning realized that he was being held hostage! He tried finding an exit and started banging on the walls. He did so for a few minutes and realized that there wasn’t even a single crack. This was a sealed room!

“Fine. You win. How long would it take?”

“One year. If you don’t pass after one year, you’ll be exterminated.”

When Xiang Ning heard that he might be killed, countless wrinkles appeared on his forehead. Shit. A year? And I might be destroyed if I fail? What the fuck?

Just as he wanted to say something....

“The training will now start.”

In an instant, the entire room shifted. The lights died down and what Xiang Ning saw was an entire desert. The temperature shot up as he questioned what had happened. How can this be? This is impossible? How could it materialize something out of thin air?!

Thud. Thud.

Something fell onto the soft sand beside his legs. It was two bottles, each carrying a liter of water. A string of sentences appeared above his head. It was the objective: “Find the oasis.”

Oasis? Where the fuck is it? Xiang Ning had no clue.

Ten minutes passed and he was already parched; he needed to find water fast. Sweat poured out of his body and had completely drenched his shirt. He instantly realized that he needed to find the oasis or he would die! Thankfully, he had numerous resources in his dimensional ring. But just as he used his Mental Power to try and retrieve something, he was stunned.

There was no reaction! Or, to be exact, there was no reaction from the dimensional ring! He couldn’t even see what was inside it.

Xiang Ning was on the verge of exploding with anger. Who could maintain their cool in this kind of situation? But he had no time to complain about it, he needed to find the oasis now.

......

Back on the outside, Dong Qianyi had arrived at the Kunlun ruins.

“Are you Nathan?”

“Yes. Good to see you, Mr. Dong.” Nathan looked at Dong Qianyi and sighed. His granduncle was also part of the twelve prodigies, but his achievements were much lower than Dong Qianyi’s.

Dong Qianyi nodded and thanked him. “Could you help me retrieve something?”

Nathan nodded and followed him. The prodigy didn’t ask about Xiang Ning, because he did not see Xiang Ning beside Nathan. The answer was clear.

He had contacted the Federation, so they should send some forces there soon. Even if Xiang Ning was unharmed, the Federation had already made arrangements to send reinforcements since many people had died. All of them were even tier five martial artists! Each and every one of them was considered an elite individual.

Three hours passed, and Bo Yan arrived at the ruins. He didn’t know that anything had happened to Xiang Ning. All he knew was that the Federation had instructed him to bring some sect masters into the ruins to rescue the people trapped inside it. He had initially wanted to refuse, but when he heard that even one of the twelve prodigies required his assistance, he agreed without hesitation. To be able to do a favor for one of the Twelve Great Prodigies was well worth his time.

“Hello. I’m Bo Yan, the leader of Kunlun City’s Hunters Guild. A pleasure to meet you.”

“Pleased to meet you.” Dong Qianyi saw that it was a tier eight sect master and was elated. With someone that strong, there should be no problem in saving his disciple.

“Could you please tell me what I need to do? I will try to fulfill it as best as I can.”

“I need you to rescue someone. His name is Xiang Ning, my disciple. This is his picture.” Dong Qianyi showed him a picture, but Bo Yan didn’t accept it. He merely stood there in shock.

“Xi… Xiang Ning?!”
