Chapter 494: I'm Sorry

Back in Marsh City, when Xiang Ning had killed Moray, he hadn’t realized that the Broken Blade Knight medal granted him the limited authority to execute people in certain scenarios. He only knew it was a special medal, but didn’t really bother learning more about it. He always thought that medals were just to inflate someone’s ego.

Numerous familiar faces were gathered in Fang Zhenyuan’s office in the Thunder Dojo, all of them staring at Xiang Ning. With so many people staring at him, he felt a bit embarrassed. “Erm… if there’s nothing, I’d like to go back home and clean myself up first.” His hair and beard were a mess. He didn’t look like an eighteen-year-old after going through the training!

Fang Zhenyuan rolled his eyes and Dong Qianyi sighed. The others wanted to say something, but digressed.

“This is a headache. Even though he was in the right, he still killed someone. Even though he has a Broken Blade Knight medal, he might still be sent to jail for a while.” The Dexter family was, after all, a powerful and distinguished family.

“They dare come and cause trouble? Do they think we’re pushovers? What can they do if they come here?” Dong Qianyi scoffed. “As for jail? Even if he didn’t have a Broken Blade Knight medal, Xiang Ning wouldn’t need to go to jail. He was in the right! If Moray had escaped, he would continue trying to assassinate Xiang Ning and his sister! What he did was justifiable self-defense!”

Fang Zhenyuan’s lip twitched in irritation. It was indeed self-defense, but… sigh. There’s nothing we can do now. Xiang Ning wasn’t even affected! Guess we can only see what they do.

“Sigh. I think that’s enough for today. Dong Qianyi, please follow me outside. I need to speak to you in private.” Fang Zhenyuan stood up and ushered Dong Qianyi out, leaving the youngsters alone in the room.

Xiang Ning sighed in relief. Even though he was strong enough to fight against tier eight martial artists, he was still somehow afraid of both Fang Zhenyuan and Dong Qianyi. He had to admit that he might have been slightly reckless in killing Moray. But if he had to do it over, he would still do the same. No one can touch the people precious to him! Not even once! People like Moray would always repeat their sins, no matter how many times they were caught. It was better to immediately deal with them.

After Fang Zhenyuan and Dong Qianyi walked out of the room, both Fang Rou and Fang Hao stood up and walked toward Xiang Ning.

Fang Rou wanted to hug him so bad, but didn’t do so because both her father and Dong Qianyi had been in the room just now. Currently, Xiang Ning was hugging his sister to console her, so Fang Rou wouldn’t interrupt them. Xiang Ning, on the other hand, felt embarrassed as well, to the point where he didn’t dare look Fang Rou in the eyes.

Fang Hao was chuckling. “If it isn’t my brother-in-law! Haven’t seen you in a year. All of us missed you so much. To think that you’d do something this crazy the moment you returned. How’d you get so strong? Can you teach me?” He acted a bit foolish to lighten the mood. He had seen his sister’s complicated expression and was no fool.

Xiang Ning saw Fang Rou, but didn’t know what to say. Both she and his sister were the most precious people to him. He also felt sorry for both of them; to think that his sister had been placed in danger’s path twice.

Xiang Xiaoyu stared at her brother and Fang Rou. She wanted to be with her brother longer, but she knew what must be done. She stood up and said, “I want to go to the toilet.”

Fang Hao cooperated with her. “Xiang Xiaoyu, the toilet on this floor is broken. Come, let me show you the other one.”

The two left, leaving only Fang Rou and Xiang Ning in the room.

Xiang Ning didn’t know what to do or say. He rubbed his palms together, words forming in his throat, but none came out. The same could be said for Fang Rou.

Silence persisted for a minute or two before Xiang Ning suddenly stood up. Fang Rou jumped a little, but he walked to her and looked her straight in the eyes. “Please don’t complain about my appearance.”

As soon as he finished saying that, he kissed her. In an instant, an entire year’s worth of fear, grief, and tears flowed out of her. Xiang Ning tried to be as gentle as he could, because he was afraid she would be repulsed, but he was wrong about Fang Rou. She hooked both her hands around his neck and kissed him even more aggressively. Xiang Ning had forgotten that she was even crazier than him when they were together!

He didn’t run this time. Fang Rou’s fingers ran through his hair and pulled hard. After they separated, he felt a bit of blood on his lips and wryly smiled; he didn’t blame her. Both of them hugged each other as if they were going to melt into one person.

“I’m sorry,” he whispered in her ears.

“It’s alright, I understand.” Fang Rou rested her head on his shoulder.

They embraced each other until night fell.

After having dinner at the Fang family house, Xiang Ning went back home to rest. Once he arrived, he immediately went into the bathroom.

Outside of the bathroom, Xiang Xiaoyu heard his soft humming. It seemed like he was finally back in a good mood. She was in a good mood, too. Ever since her brother had returned, she hadn’t stopped smiling for a single second.

Xiang Ning finished showering, cutting his hair, and shaving his beard. He came out of the bathroom and his sister was astounded by his appearance. “Wow, I think you look even more handsome now.”

“Your brother has always been this handsome.”

“Bullshit.” She patted the empty space on the sofa beside her and he sat there.

Neither of them said anything as they watched TV. An hour later, the sound of roaring engines came from outside. Xiang Ning felt many strong auras gathering in front of his house and thought, Are they here already?
