It's the first day of the job. My eyes are still heavy from all the drinking I did before I slept, but I need to present proper posture and wake up this early. As I said, Taskmaster is strict.
We were asked to sign a contract. It's identical to the ones that Guardians sign, with a few tweaks in it. I was too lazy to read it and just signed it while yawning. The others were trembling, why so afraid? You're the ones who applied for this, it's too late to back out now.
Right after that, we were immediately given our first mission.

It seems that the ability is still not identified, and there's no permanent name yet. At least there's a description and a temporary name.
Cornelius, huh?

Well, it wouldn't hurt to peek into the memories of the dead. One of the reasons why I excel at the sword is because my parents are quite the productive members of the kingdom. My father was a swordsman while my mother was a magician. Though they died before I was born, I was able to inherit their knowledge and skills by acquiring parts of their memories every time I visit their grave. I did the exact same thing they did, but only at a younger age. It was a well deserved head-start since they left me with nothing after they died.
The memory-peeking is a unique magic of mine. I don't have a name for it yet, not that it's important.
I inquired with the Taskmaster about my request, but it didn't go as planned. Well, they're the ones missing out anyways.
The journey starts.
Usually, we travel the world through underground tunnels we call Transits. It is where most of the merchant people always reside, but since we're purgers, we are obligated to explore the world as it is. By foot. By fucking foot. We have to travel a couple hundred kilometers by foot. This is such a fucking scam.
It will be tiring, but at least I'll able to finally get out of the barrier. I've always been curious about the outside. I expected a barren world outside due to the descriptions of the anomaly but...
I've never seen a more gorgeous view in my entire life. For a while, I could hear nothing but the constant gasps of awe from my companions.
Surrounding us were ginormous trees almost as big as Gawain Cathedral, a building that stands 300 meters tall. Their trunks resembled bittermelons, yet their whiteness were reminiscent of ash. Their leaves occasionally fell to the ground, making me remember the cranes I used to make out through sheets of paper, ones I tried to sell to try and make ends meet, ones I threw in the sky in hopes of actually flying. But they never did, and so they slowly but gracefully they fell to the ground. Back to me.
Before I knew it, tears fell from my eyes. I'm... scared, aren't I? Shit. Fucking hell man... I need a separate notebook.
