Azriel walked past the room pretending to not notice them. Seeing this, the Group leader thought it was a coincidence and called out to him.

“Hey fellow survivor!”

Azriel turned around in ‘surprise’ and took up a defensive stance with his spear. Seeing that the Group leader had a gun in his hand, he became more tense.

“We mean no harm. Are you the only one here?”

Azriel carefully nodded.

Group leader’s face brightened up.

“Would you like to join us?”

“…”

Group leader blushed and put away his gun. He then stretched out a hand.

“Haha. Misunderstanding. Gotta protect ourselves these days. Anyways, I really mean no harm. We are people of the Golden Dragon Group. My squad consists of me, Tony, and Andy. Hey, Tony, come out!”

Tony got out from behind the door and stood behind the Group leader. Azriel shook the group leader’s hands and they started chatting.

“Don’t you find me suspicious? Why did you take me in immediately?”

“Oh, it’s because our group really needs more people right now. Typically, our squad should have around 5-8 people but as you can see, we are really short handed. Since you loot around here, it must mean you set up camp near here and you should have heard about our group, the Golden Dragon Group yeah?”

Azriel nodded.

“Well, no not exactly but I do know something else. There is a group with several hundred people and they made a huge school their base. They have guns and weapons and loads of food. They were also getting beaten up by another group too. That you guys? ”

Group leader’s face turned red. “Haha, yea that's us. Anyways, wanna come with us? All you have to do is some work and you can get a place to sleep and eat.”

Azriel thought for a moment and then nodded. They then shook hands, got out of the store, hopped onto the car and drove back to base.

“Wow! This place is so huge and amazing. You guys even have a farm!” Azriel beamed. ‘Heh. I think I deserve an Oscar for my acting’.

“*Cough* Yes. All you have to do is register and get an ID, report to the ‘Adventurer’s Guild’ tomorrow to get your job. Since I’m the one that brought you in, you will be in my group and I’ll be the one in charge of our group’s job, unless you want to go solo.”

Azriel shook his head. “I’ll follow you, leader. BTW, what’s your name? Tony and Andy just call you leader.”

“My name is Yat. Alright, I’ll see you tomorrow. You can ask the person issuing you the ID where you go to sleep.”

“Thank you!”

As Azriel was waving his hand, Yat, Tony, and Andy walked away. Azriel turned and headed towards the Adventurer’s Guild to get his ID.

“And here you go, that’s your ID. Don’t lose it because it’ll cost you a lot to get another one. Your dorm will be in sector C10-100. Here is a map of the school. Be sure to report in for work tomorrow otherwise you won’t get food.”

Azriel thanked the lady and looked around the guild. It really looked like something out of a novel. This room was designed to look like a tavern. Next to the exit, there was a huge bulletin board with papers tacked onto it. On the paper, there were a variety of quests like ‘Find some coconut’ or ‘Get fuel from a local gas station’. There were lots of round tables and chairs and even a bar on the other side of the room.

‘Fuck lord! Where did y’all find the time to decorate and make this place so extravagant?’

After taking a quick scan and thanking the lady again, he left to find his dorm.

“Let’s see… That place is sector A, then B, and ah, that’s C-10.”

The school building looked massive on the outside and even more impressive on the inside. It seemed as if the whole place was a labyrinth. Each sector had 100 rooms and there are a total of 30 sectors. The Golden Dragon Group only occupies up to 6 sectors and the rest are all used for storage or just empty.

As Azriel entered C10-100, he saw a very nice room. The room was as big as a small classroom and there was a bed, chair and desk, the basics.

‘Fuck! Mucho bonito! Screw my chuuni crap, I’ll just live here from now on!’

“Hey good morning pal!”

“Ah, good morning.”

Yat led them to a table near the quest board and showed them a paper.

“Uh hem. So today, we will be taking on a C ranked quest. It’s like this; so there is like a cell tower thing and near it is a building with lots of electronic parts and they want us to go get as much as we can without damaging it much. According to scouts, there are around 10ish zombies near it. We will set off in 10 minutes. Go and prepare everything you might need. Azriel, come with me.”

Azriel followed Yat out of the guild into another building. Inside this building, there is an old man napping on the counter.

“Hey mister, I’m here to show my friend the stuff here.”

The old man opened one of his eyes and went back to sleep. Yat sighed in relief and proceeded to explain to Azriel.

“According to the people who lived here before the zombie outbreak, there is a blacksmith around town and he sells weapons and stuff but because it was illegal to carry swords around town and could only be a decoration, he didn’t sell much and so he started forging utensils for a living. But since the zombie outbreak started, he was recruited to be a blacksmith and taught some kids that have slight talent in this area. In the back is a forge that took weeks to move and set the things properly. There is a variety of weapons here and he sells the weapons in exchange for food and drinks. He operates separately from the group, meaning he is independent.”

Yat led Azriel around the warehouse and pointed to the walls.

“These weapons are expensive. For these swords, it’s a week’s worth of food and for better quality swords here, it’s a month’s work of food. There are other weapons like spears and halberds but it is a custom order and will cost extra to make. Alright, let’s go do our quest.”

They went out and regrouped with Andy and Tony. They got into the car and drove to their destination.

“1 zombie ahead. Tony, Andy, formation.”

Andy walked forward to attract the zombie’s aggro while Yat and Tony followed behind with spiked poles that seemed to be ripped off of a fence.

When Andy successfully pulled the zombie’s aggro, Tony and Yat came from behind and pinned the zombie onto the floor. Yat lit a match and dropped it onto the zombie. They then ran away and hid behind Azriel who received a spiked pole from them before.

...

Yat sat on a table and explained their strategy. "So as usual, Andy will bait and me and Tony will pin it down and I'll drop a match stick on it, setting it on fire. After that, we will run and hide behind you and you will defend us for a while until the zombies burn out. Before you came, we would have to run away, running out of breath and taking a long time but with you here, it shouldn't be that much of a deal."

'So they do know about burning the zombies. Not surprising.'

Azriel nodded. "Cool, we'll go with what you planned, leader."

...

The zombie stood up with the 2 spike poles still stuck on its shoulders. It then charged at Azriel.

Having already experienced this before, Azriel was calm and posed himself for defense.

“All of you, move back.”

When the zombie arrived and launched an attack, Azriel sidestepped it and slammed the pole that was stuck on the zombie with his pole. The pole came out of the zombie and Azriel kicked it to Yat. Yat bent down and picked the pole and stood next to Azriel.

“Bro, you have some nice skills.”

“It’s passable. Have to have some skills to survive by myself in this world.”

“Heh. You’re right.”

As the zombie kept standing up and charging at them, Azriel and Yat either sidestepped or tripped the zombie with the pole. After a while, the zombie burned to ashes.

“Ok. 1 down, several more to go. Same procedure, yeah?”

Azriel and co nodded.

After a few hours, the zombies were all cleared out. They sat down in a room and started eating. Azriel frowned at the meal but continued on eating.

“Is there something wrong Azriel?”

“No, I just dislike beans but they are very nutritious. Nevermind that, how do we take back the parts? They want it to be less damaged.”

Andy looked up and grinned with beans still in his mouth. “That's where I come in. I act as the bait because I am very confident in my ability to escape and I was originally an electrician so getting these parts is easy for me.”

After eating, they head to the main control room where Andy started taking apart the pieces. Yat, Tony, and Azriel stood guard.

“Is our car nearby?”

Yat nodded. “I parked it nearby. The moment we finish taking the pieces apart, we can load it fast and easy.”

“What’s Tony’s specialty?”

Tony: “I am a fighter and I can do math very well.”

“...”

Awkward silence ensued in the room. Thankfully Andy finished pulling out the parted.

“There are a lot of circuit boards this time. We can get a lot of merit. Adding the radios that were here we can laze around for 2 days without doing tasks.”

Yat and Tony exclaimed in happiness. They hurriedly loaded the goods into the car and prepared to set off. After driving for a while, they found a McDonald’s.

Back in the guild…

Yat was talking to a guild staff while Azriel, Tony and Andy were waiting. Upon seeing Yat and the guild staff heading out, they followed.

The guild staff opened the trunk of the car and looked at the stuff. “These are some high quality goods. Several dozen circuit boards and even these radios. The rewards will be processed at the counter.”

The guild staff wrote something on a notepad and gave it to Yat. Yat took it and talked to the lady at the reception table and gave something else to Yat. Yat took it and beckoned Azriel and co to follow him. They eventually reached a warehouse near the farm and Yat handed a badge to the man guarding. The man went inside with a shopping cart and half an hour later, food filled the cart.

“These are enough ration for your group for 2 days.” After that, the man didn’t speak another word.

Yat pushed the cart to another building. Inside the building, there were various groups chatting and splitting off the rewards.

Yat split the food into 4 portions and handed them out. “We got very lucky this time. Since we got the food, I assume we are good to go? Also, we won’t be going on quests for the next 2 days so y’all can relax.”

After saying this, Yat left. Following that, the rest of the group disbanded. Azriel headed back into his room and stashed the food somewhere. He then headed to the gym.

After arriving here, he found out there was an actual gym with all sorts of training material. He needed to keep exercising his body otherwise he would lose what he built faster than anyone else.

Inside a large warehouse…

“With these circuit boards, we are able to build something more and better. How is the digging coming along?”

A tall, blond, handsome man stood there looking at people working.

“Hey, did you hear what I said?”

The blond smiled. “Yes. We are about half way done. It might take another week or so but you should be able to see the water coming in soon.”

The pale man in a scientist outfit nodded and went back to work. “Well, get that done as soon as possible. We are in a critical phase. If this works, then we are set for a while.”

After working out in the gym, Azriel headed to the clinic. He had to see what was wrong with his body. Before, he felt like his body could grow limitlessly yet now he felt like it reached the peak and could no longer grow, not to mention the acne on his face and other issues.

‘God, I can’t believe I forgot about this. Should’ve visited the place sooner.’

As he opened the door, he saw an old man fiddling around with a tube of blood. Azriel sat down on a chair and waited for the old man to finish. After a while, the old man sighed and looked at Azriel.

“Ya need something kid?”

Azriel nodded and stated his reasons for coming.

“So basically a check up. Alright, follow me. Do be warned that we are running low on some supplies and might not have any of something else so do expect us to improvise.”

The old man led Azriel to the back where they took their exams. Azriel saw some people with zombie bites strapped onto the chair being dissected and some who were sick.

“Alright. We don’t have any alcohol wipes so there is a chance that you can get infected after getting your blood drawn, is that clear?”

Azriel nodded and stretched out his hands.

The doctor pulled out a needle and after washing the site, he drew a tube of blood. He capped it and labeled it.

“Good. Come back in a week and I’ll have your results. Here is your number, don’t lose it otherwise you won’t be getting your results back.”

Azriel thanked the doctor and headed back to his dorm.

In his room, he opened the window and a cat jumped in. Azriel opened a can of sardine and gave it to Mi-Hu. Mi-Hu meowed in dissatisfaction.

"Well, ain't nothing we can do about this. We still have food in the van. Since my group isn't taking on a quest tomorrow, we can go back and bring some food back."

Mi-Hu meowed and they went to sleep.
