Chapter 10: school, part 2 (9)

          Amelia POV

          I didn’t know how to feel when it came to Laetitia. She was strange. She didn’t have much of a character. She just seemed to observe. It made for a great learning. That meant she learned fast and could teach people even faster. I learned about as much stuff from her as I had from Clive.

          Sure she was as cute as a button, but she didn’t really make an impact on the world. That was until the crossing…

          Unlike most days, I was in the carriage with Laetitia this time. She was looking out the window and observing the sites as we passed them by. Whenever something was out of the window frame, she looked at the next thing. Imprinting the image in her mind I guessed. This version of earth was strange as it had magic. I couldn’t tell if tis was a magic thing or if this is how her brain works.

          Then the carriage stopped. A river was in the way and the bridge was collapsed. We both were the only ones in the carriage and the driver looked back and opened the little door that separated the outside front from the cabin.

          “The way is blocked by a fallen tree. It looks like it collapsed onto the bridge and caved in the bridge,” he said.

          “ok, can we find another way around the river?” questioned Laetitia.

          “If I remember correctly there is a way, but it goes through the territory of a bull moose,” said the driver with a shaky voice.

          “Hm, maybe I can build a bridge with my magic?” said Laetitia.

          She then walked out of the carriage and walked over to the broken bridge. She put a hand on the ground and mumbled under her breath. And then a roman looking bridge made up of ice and lines of what looked like bronze grew from the ground right next to the collapsed bridge.

          It was beautiful, and all around functional. She got back inside and looked at the driver, then nodded.

          “Ok, lets try this alright,” said the driver, shrugging.

          As we passed the river, I couldn’t help but hear a noise coming from behind us.
