Chapter 14: The capital (13)

          Laetitia’s POV

          We had made it to the capital and all I could say was, wow! It was small! That doesn’t mean the city or population was small. But the streets and such were tiny. The people were to. Compared to father, most of the men here would stand at his armpit.

          “glorious, is it not? I know that you all have not seen this cityscape except for my brother. So, you should all take it in,” spoke Kevin.

          “Everything is so small,” I said.

          He blanched at that and shifted in his seat. Then he looked toward me instead of at the driver’s window as he had been.

          “are you sure that we should let Marthon live?” he asked.

          “yes, I am sure. In fact I plan on getting the king who will be the judge of his trial to let him go,” I said.

          “Why is that? Didn’t he confess to trying to kidnap you?” he questioned.

          “he owes me a dept. because we didn’t kill him right then and there. He owes me at least that much,” I retaliated in a monotone.

          “I agree, my life is yours lady Laetitia. If you wish for me to take my own life so, be it. If you wish me to take another’s, I will do that as well,” said Sir Marthon.

          “good, I will see if I can get you free after this whole trial thing,” I said.

          “Ok guys, we’re here. I can see the castle from here,” said the driver.

          Soon, not even a minute later we arrived at the gates that surrounded the castle. We drove up to the fancy stone laden path that went up to the castle. When we got out I was astounded.

The castle itself looked old. Older than any building from the original earth that I lived on. It was rather simple and brutal looking. There were no central towers or turrets of any sort within the center of the castle. The only turrets were square and stubby. Scars of battle were laden on the outside but could tell they were fake.

Finally, a servant came out to greet us.
