He ran forward. The first strike came from the enemy. A vertical slice to the head. But Kevin blocked it. Then he retaliated, knocking the blade away with a slight push and cut the man’s head in two.
Then came in the next man. He went in for a horizontal cut. Kevin blocked it and kicked him in the crotch. He doubled over and moaned in pain. Kevin ended his misery by stabbing the man’s temple in.
Kevin this time went in for kill and stabbed his blade forward. Said man blocked it and charged him in a shoulder bash. Kevin simply blocked with the edge of his blade and watched as the stupid man cut his own arm. Kevin finished him off with a slice to the neck. Since the blade was made out of diamond it cut through the chain mail like butter.
The last man fell to his knees and surrendered. Pleading to not be killed. Kevin obliged him and put his foot on the man’s head looking back at his handy work.
“What should we do with him?” he asked Laetitia.
“I don’t know, probably find out how they knew about us. Then we can go and meet the king to tell him the news,” she said.
“Good idea!” said the driver.
“I agree,” I said.
That concluded the whole, getting ambushed thing. We soon got the last man tide up and questioned him about what he knew about Laetitia and why he knew such things.
“if I recall we were told about you guys from a man dressed in black. He was about a head taller than me and carried himself like he was the only real person in the room and the rest of us were just ants,” he nodded in recollection, “I was one of the only people in the room at the time and Gus or leader said it was ok to tell people because people from the north acted like that.”

The only person in the conversation was Laetitia at this point. She had assumed control of the questions as Kevin wasn’t inclined to asking and instead was used to stabbing and kicking. I, on the other hand, was thoroughly surprised at the temperance of Laetitia. She seemed a bit aloof at first. Clive even said She wasn’t much.
But this was something different. Her calm demeanor might have set up some for suspicion. But this man was very honest.
In fact, he was so honest I doubted whether or not he was used to talking with restraint.
“thank you for the information, I hope and pray you have a fair trial. In this country the law is the king, so I hope you live this,” she said with a charming but small smile.
“well, we were hoping to kidnap you and ransom you for a small sum of land to found a church for our religion on, but knowing you from this little exchange. I would have regretted it,” said the man honestly.
“what is your name?” asked Laetitia.
“Sir Marthon of the Grand inquisition,” he said with no pride, it was like he was simply saying a fact and he held no attachment to it. Though, he seemed to be a man of chivalry and abstinence.
There was no such thing as chivalry in this timeline. A knight was free to kill all the peasants he wanted. But very few of them wanted to stay just and pure. This man from the get-go, from the very moment of the interview, was a knight.
And that was rare.
