Chapter 3: location (2)

Now as one might expect from a dude from the 21^st century that got turned into a woman; I wasn’t happy. Not happy in the least. Right after I had been reborn and figured out that I was a woman in this life time, well I was mad.

It had been a week so far and have learned very little. I know that I am the youngest child of the darkcrow family. I know that this life I have been born into is different from the life of my past, including earth. The earth I now live on has a different history than the earth of my past.

On this earth, an English warship beached onto the shores of Maine because of a storm that occurred during the 1230 invasion of France. The year was currently 1556. And there was no sign of Columbus sailing the ocean blue. The country I lived in was still in the medieval era. They had magic though.

When the Europeans landed here, they took land from the natives and proclaimed that they were in a new world and started to mingle with them. They declared that they were superior to the natives. They declared themselves chosen by God to show the natives how to live better lives. So, they formed a kingdom and soon the practice of Christianity and nationhood spread.

I currently lived in the kingdom of Wabanaki. In the county of Aroostook. My father was the count of Aroostook. He wasn’t very strict when it came to leadership over his county. He saw everyone as important and cared for his people.

My mother was the 13^th princess of the kingdom of Vermont. She loved my father very deeply and supported him in most of his endeavors. She was also a devout Christian.

In this country there was a large portion of natives that believed in a new sect of Christianity that I wasn’t familiar with. Think of it like Mormonism without the polygamy.

But that is most of the stuff I learned. Oh, you want to hear about the magic. Ok, the magic in this world was rare in people. But it couldn’t raise the dead, or do any of the things that saints or Jesus could do according to the bible lore. All it could do was maybe start a spark or two? Or it could almost freeze water? Though the stronger one prayed the stronger it got. If one asked a totem or a idle, then it might increase. But all around it was pretty much not there.

Though apparently, I had very strong magic control. I once accidently froze my father’s tea when he was reading the bible. He was mad at first but then turned ecstatic when he realized my power was strong. (don’t question why I keep bringing up religion.) He then began to brag to my mother that he helped me learn my power. She just laughed and humored him.

Whenever my parents got the time the always start to flirt with each other. Once I wondered in on them mid make out session. That was cursed and I will never be able to have sex after that. Thanks mom and dad. You cursed your child’s mind.

My name was Laetitia darkcrow. I was one week old and ready to explore the house. All the time. Whenever I had the chance, I did push-ups and sit ups. I also too great interest with the local politics. Sometimes my father would talk to me as if knew that I could understand him.

He would talk about how the other nobles always told him to raise the taxes but the commoners didn’t have the money for the raised taxes so he didn’t bother. Whenever mother was around, she would say “I agree with you” and so on and so forth.

I had brother and sisters, but they weren’t around. They were all in the local academy. Said academy took the children of nobles and taught them about math’s and politics. At age 5 to 15 they attended it. My two older brother and three older sisters were there. That’s all I know at the moment.
