…
The family and Amelia had all gathered at the balcony of the town hall and father was down on a stage attached to the front of the building. A wooden frame held up a curtain that was meant to conceal the stage. He held a large megaphone in one hand and a hat that kept peoples names on them. The megaphone was just a cone. The names would be drawn, and the first person would go up.
The curtain pulled back and father yelled through the megaphone.
“Everyone this is you’re lord here! Gather around, gather all of you! Today from this hour of 12:00 to 3:00 we are going have a talent show. Some of you know this. But some people here aren’t from our little old town,” he said in all one breath, “so, I am going to tell you all how this works.”
“First: I pull a name from the hat.”
“Second: I call the person’s name and they come up here.”
“Third: said person demonstrates their talent.”
“Everyone here in the audience does not have their name in the hat. The people who entered are in the town hall behind me. So, without further ado…”
He puled the name from the hat and looked at it.
“FRANK KURT”
Then father ran back inside the town hall as a man that was carrying multiple swords came out.
“hello everyone, I am Frank Kurt and my talent is guggling,” he said
He then began to toss one sword at a time then two swords and finally all 8.
“This is about all I can do,” he said as the people awed.

After about 10 minutes a bell rang out and he stopped and put the swords away. Father came out of the town hall again and said:
“Give it up for Frank Kurt everyone.”
Loud cheering followed. Then frank went back inside and father called out another name as he reached inside the bag.
“CRAIG HERSHY!”
He ran back inside the building and a small, short man came outside. He was holding a wooden puppet in one hand and a stick that was attached to one of the puppets hands. He them told everyone that his talent was puppetry. And then he told everyone jokes. The jokes were not that funny but everyone was seeing if they could see his lips moves as the puppet talked.
The next couple of people went up and the show was rather fun. Some of the talents wee magic tricks that the magic of this world couldn’t recreate. Some of the talents were actually magic. I could see the mana going in and out of their bodies. I asked Clive about it, and he said he couldn’t see anything.
I started to think about how the magic in this world worked. When ever someone used their mind to do something it got stronger like a muscle. The memory of it growing stronger. The ability to think about complex things developed. And so did their magic ability. Whenever a person prayed, they used their head. So, the brain was the key. That part of your brain that used magic needed to be exercised.
I tried to focus on the magic that the people were using, and I could feel a headache coming on. Like I was thinking too hard. I felt bad now. I couldn’t hold onto my conscience. I fell asleep.
When I woke up, I was in my mother’s arms. She was smiling down on me and humming. We were back home, and she had in her casual wear. She was stroking my head. It was comforting.
“your so precious,” said mother, “I could tell you were trying to use magic there little daughter of mine. I know that Clive and you do not belong in this world. But you are still my kids, so I will take car of you as a mother should.”
And at that I fell asleep.
(hey guys, Zog here. I was just wanting you to know that there is going to be a time skip. Not a large one though.)
