I ended up in a disgusting place.

In this huge empty space there are only three things I constantly see: the mold, the wetness, and the four remnants of bodies, that ended up here because of me.

Hissss?’ I looked down, and below me was standing a drone.

She was concerned that I did not touch the deer she brought to me from the hunt outside.

Ever since I ‘gave birth’ to two drones, they were feeding me, and providing protection against those who trespassed my ‘nest’.

Unlike me, they were not hesitant. They killed mercilessly.

They did not feel sick and tired of blood, and were not trying to avoid killing.

Rather, they were sadistic by nature…

Hissss’ [Stop attacking everyone who walks by. Attack only those who enter the tunnel to here.]

Of course, my orders would fall on almost deaf ‘ears’, since the drones considered that my safety can only be achieved by a wider killzone.

I grew up a lot, and barely needed protection, but I already understood that soon I would. The instincts urge me to prepare to start laying eggs, as I am the hive’s queen.

A walking dinosaur. A gigantic skeleton creature that rips, reaps, and tears apart anything.

For quite some time my only way of leaving this nest chamber was only through using a peculiar method I discovered earlier: I found out that I can turn into a human.

Just why can’t you be obedient…” I reached out to hug my naughty spawn’s ugly head.

The initial disgust I felt for them was soon replaced with acceptance. They were delivering me food, and I was sure I will be safe and sound with them around. The relationship of ‘mother’ and children.

[The very thought of it makes me shiver…]

‘Hss?’ The drone gently pushed me with its head.

I am alright… … I’ll eat it later…” I hurried to refuse the ‘fresh meat’. The taste buds of human tongue were too good at transmitting the 'freshness' of meat.

During the time I spent in those caves mastering the art of shapeshifting, I learnt to speak the local language to the point I would be understood.

Also, I learnt some information about the local ‘society’.

The people here were but the outcasts of the city above, where many people live.

I already forbid the drones to even come close to surface.

Now that I am almost an adult queen, the question of me getting ready to lay eggs was of utmost importance.

Since I am a monster, it makes no sense for humans to leave me down here, and should they learn about my existence, they will surely try to kill me. Which means I need to expand the hive, whether I wish for it, or not.

Expanding the hive, on the other hand, requires me to be somewhat safe and secure. With two drones it will be a tough task, meaning I require additional protection.

Hisss!

Yes, yes, I know. Stay here, ‘mommy’ [shivers] will come out for a while.”

Acherson had no idea what to do.

Recently the largest gang of the catacombs was wiped out, and everyone hurried to fill the vacuum of power. His gang included.

At first everything went well: they got a foothold at the 3rd level, and managed to get a couple counterfeit goods stores they could be using to get money, but then everything went south.

Where’s my money, I ask ya?!” Rikki, the rival boss was also targeting the part where Acherson’s host settled, and was now pressing him for cash. The thing he never even had in the first place.

If he agrees – he will lose all of his racketed business, and quite possibly his life. If he refuses – he will lose his life, and quite possible everything he has.

My Boss’s getting tired of waiting, ya hear me?! If ya won’t get ‘r money tomorrow, I’ll personally wipe the tunnels with ya face!

SLAM

When the things couldn’t go even worse, the door opened again.

Acherson immediately grabbed on his sword, but when he saw that it was one of his subordinates, he calmed down.

“Hey, Boss, a girl came, and said she wants to chat with you.” He had no idea what is going on, so Acherson just nodded to bring her in.

He can always sell her if she’s any good, so it won’t hurt.

The door opened, and the girl entered.

She was a teenager in worn rags, like in almost all of the petty gangs, like his own.

“I had a deal.” The girl stretched out her hand, making Acherson confused with what the hell she forgot here.
