A new day, the third inside the game, begins with that now familiar bubbly feeling. Elissa understands now. This is what was wrong, what she Always felt was missing. The depression that, before her sisters disappearance and her mothers Suicide, Kept her feeling like a worthless waste of space, like life had no meaning... the secret jealousy that she didn't recognize as such, that she felt when her sister, always so cheerful, bought something cute. Because it wasn't "NORMAL" for guys to like cute things, and so She suppressed her desires... and forgot that's what the feeling was. She had forgotten what it felt like to have any emotion except Sorrow and Rage... She had already decided, when this investigation was over, to take some time off and look into Her options. Gender reassignment techniques had come a long way since the bad old days of her late grandfathers youth. From Complete Genetic restructuring to advanced Hormone therapy, and full body Cosmetic Nano-Surgery was a popular option as well. She'd decide her course of action later.

Rising out of bed, she left her room, stopping only to pay for another night, then left for the quest destination.  It only took 20 minutes, and she now had The beginner Blacksmithing skill.

She made her way back through the gate, and the butchery was easy to spot, being the only large structure outside the walls... and the herd of golden cattle inside the attatched pasture. Elissa made her way inside, and used Detection eye to locate her objective. A young minotaur woman, who was manning the counter. Upon Elissa's approach, she stood up.

"You here about the missing Meat?" Elissa nodded. "Good. Well it Ain't no mystery as to the culprit, missy, I done seen it with my own eyes. A white Gigaton-Rabbit. Darn thing damn near took my pa's leg off. What we want you, one of them tough adventurin types, to do is... Hunt the White Bastard down and kill it. It's bigger'n an Alpha, so you'll prolly have to kill a few of them to lure it out. You bring me its head and you can keep the rest of the materials, plus I'll teach ya a thing or two about Workin with leather and meat. Good luck, Missy. You'll need it."

The woman returned to her seat, and proceeded to ignore Elissa.

"Well... time to hunt Rabbits... I'd better try to stay Quiet."

Two hours later, She'd successfully killed the 10 dog sized rabbits, and the two horse sized Alphas, and was walking through the nearby wooded area following large tracks that had appeared Immediately After the second Alpha went down, When something impacted her side, sending her flying away into a tree. [-2 hp. -8hp.  90 remaining] the initial hit wasnt that damaging, but the impact with the tree was. Despite having risen to level 3 during the Rabbit hunting, her HP hadn't increased at all. She looked at the thing that had hit her, to see what looked like a Yeti. A nine foot tall, three feet wide, built like a Gorilla Yeti. But what it had on its head gave her a sinking feeling in her gut...

"Detection Eye."

[White Gigaton-Rabbit, Athenor the Destroyer. Warning: Extremely Agressive, Maneater, Immune to Ice magic. Class: Berzerker.]

"THIS. IS. NOT. A. RABBIT!." Just seeing that on the status screen was enough to make her mad. This thing was a Yeti that just happened to have long ears. It wasnt cute at all! She was already shooting at it before the rest of the status hit her.

"Wait, it has a class? This... may be a problem."

Every hit from the bullets, while damaging, made the beast angrier and angrier... until it roared, and swung its huge fist at her... a fist that had humanoid hands. It missed, and hit a tree, the same tree that had inflicted 8 points of damage on Elissa moments ago... the tree was pulverized.

"Okay. Don't let it hit me. Good to know."

It was angry... but slow. So very slow. Finally, after shooting it and blasting it with Shadow Spikes for what felt like an hour, Her Detection eye pinpointed a weakness. Dodging around the beast, She fired one shot directly into the base of its neck... The critical hit dealing enough damage to end the fight.

"I see. Even the game knows it's not a Rabbit."

After catching her breath, Elissa Dismantled the creature, collecting the loot, which included its grotesque head. She headed back to to butchery, and was greeted by a very happy minotaur. The hug she was given dealt 20 points of damage, but she learned how to use the pelts of her prey to craft basic boots and gloves from leather, and Basic clothing and a cloak from Wool, fur, etc... as well as how to make sausages from the meat drops. By the time she returned to the inn, she was exhausted... and had replaced her Beginner hat with a rabbit-skin Hooded Cloak that gave a +3 to definitely and a 10% stealth bonus, And some fingerless Rabbit-skin gloves that gave a +5 to ranged damage. A decent Haul.

"One more Quest, and I'll be able to go investigate that Forgotten Godess."

[Quest Complete. Rewards Granted. Quest 5/5, Rest til morning, then seek out the guard captain. Complete Quest to gain: Permit for Southern Passage, 500E, Upgradeable Weapon, Two Weapon Upgrades, choice of new skill.]

That would bring her upgrades to three, and give her a weapon they could be used on. Useful as the one she already has is a silencer... and her starter revolver isn't that powerful. Tommorrow would be an eventful day.

[Outside the pod]

Gauge was anxious. It had been three hours since his detective had went in, and so far so good, but he was afraid. Afraid he'd lose a promising detective. Afraid this wouldn't work, or would reveal nothing... a huge waste of time... but mostly, Afraid of what he might have to do, to protect his secret...

3 hours here meant three days in the game, the time-dilation effect making it seem as if they were inside much longer... Gauge smiled down at the dive pod.

"I hope you get your answers, kid... I truly do. Heh. Imagine if we were wrong six years ago, and she's still alive. That'd be a hell of a good result. As for plan B... nothing yet... but theres still time. Plenty of time.
