[Lady Ashara’s writings]

It was a beautiful day, the birds are chirping in the windows, the flowers in the garden are blooming, and the temperature is not too hot. I was with my sister Allyria that day, practising on how to knit with our mother. But that beautiful day soon ended when my father entered the room, and he told us, or perhaps more specifically me, that the Morian’s fostering will soon end. I was crushed when I heard it. If he’s gone, who will accompany me anymore? Who will tell me stories and bring me on rides? Arthur? He rarely ever comes back anymore. But I didn’t say anything at first, I just nodded, and got back to what we were doing, but my mind was distracted, I didn’t like it at all.

As time went by I continued to be quiet, but my heart became more and more heavy when I saw the servants began to decorate the halls of Palestone Sword with decorations for a feast, they became busy cooking and arranging the tables. I eventually broke and couldn’t stand it anymore, so I rushed to my father’s chamber, and asked if he could extend the fostering. But my father just smiled and told me that he couldn’t do anything about it, as it was Morian’s request in the first place.

The betrayal that I felt that day was unimaginable. I was but a lonely 13 year-old girl then, eager for something new, I got that in the form of Morian, yet here I hear that he wanted to leave the place, that he wanted to leave me. And so I didn’t say anything to my father again, I just slammed the door and locked myself in my bedroom. The servants had begged me to get out, but I was silent. My sister asked me to get out, but I was silent. My mother commanded me to get out, but I was silent.

But then, the boy I hated suddenly entered the room from my window. I probably thought then that I should’ve kicked him out the window, let him fall to the rivers below out of spite, but thankfully I didn’t. He had asked what was wrong with me to suddenly lock myself in. I again didn’t answer him, but he suddenly put his warm hand in my face, forcing me to face him. So I finally questioned him about his decision to leave me.

But he didn’t answer, instead, he kissed me, a short and tender kiss. It was my first kiss, and I admit, I was in love with him. I was just too scared to tell him, but when he kissed me, my barriers broke, and I cried. I don’t know why I cried, but I did. When he broke the kiss, he then told me that he wanted to see more of the world, he wanted to see Dorne, and he can’t do that inside the walls of Starfall. So I asked him if he could bring me with him, but he said no, for good reason, Dornish lands aren't known to be friendly. He said that he would come back to me after he had seen Dorne, he would come back to ask my father for my hand in marriage, and so I agreed to wait.

And after that, I relented, I finally got out of my room, just in time for the feast. I remembered that I didn’t really eat anything, I just kept staring at Morian. My father probably noticed it, but thankfully he didn’t say anything.

Next morning, I stood with my family in front of the entrance of the castle, Morian was saying his final goodbyes to my father, he thanked him for his tutoring all these years, he then moved to my sister Allyria and hugged her like she was his little sister, he moved to my oldest brother and shook his hand, and finally, he’s facing me.

He just smiled at me, that annoying smile, I feel like every time I saw that smile, my fist twitched as if I wanted to punch his beautiful face. But I faltered, I only managed to say a single sentence, not wanting to cry in front of everyone.

“When will we see each other again?” I questioned him.

He only bowed and kissed my hand, before saying. “Perhaps in the spring?”

Then he jumped onto his horse Athena, and walked away from Starfall along with his small band of guards, leaving me confused with his words.
