Chapter 1: UNTIMELY DEATH

[Location: Hospital] [Oncology department]

Evans was sitting in the doctor's chamber with his parents. The doctor was examining his report. It seemed like the news wasn't good from his grim expression.

Evans' hands were sweating even in the air-conditioned room. His restless eyes were on the doctor's face. His cough has got worse in the last couple of days, and the medication and chemotherapy didn't improve his condition. He lost consciousness three times yesterday, and some blood came out while he was coughing this morning.

The doctor closed the report and slightly shook his head. Then he looked toward Evans' parents, "I think it will be better for the patient to wait outside."

"Oh, come on. I know my body better than anyone. I blacked out, coughed blood, and sometimes... it's really hard to breathe. I am dying, and I know that. So, just lay it all on the table and tell me how long I got?" said Evans, unable to hold back.

His parents nearly mortgaged all their assets for his treatment, and then there was that big bank loan. Evans didn't want his parents to waste money on him anymore.

He had made up his mind last night and decided to stop the treatment since he couldn't watch his parents suffer for him anymore. His heart pains thinking about the sufferings he brought upon his family and how much they will suffer after his death.

"Son!" Evans' mother grabbed her son's trembling shoulder.

"Tell us, doctor. Is there anything we could do...?" Evans' father asked the doctor as he took his glass off and rubbed his red, tired eyes.

"Haaa!!! Very well," The doctor sighed and said, "The tumors have spread in his lungs and... I am sorry to bear the bad news. But it's the final stage."

"How long do I have?" Evans repeats his question. He wasn't interested in all that.

Next month is his 20th birthday, and for a boy who never got to live his life to its fullest, Evans wanted to know how much time he had left so that he could at least put a stop to his useless dreams that weren't going to be fulfilled. And instead, he can do something that only he can do in his critical condition.

"Without chemo, weeks, a month tops. And with chemo, 5 to 6 months. I am sorry, but that's all we can do. You have to make a decision... Are you going to continue the treatment or...?" The doctor said while looking into Evans' father's eyes.

Evans knew that his day was near, but a month, 'So, it's time... F*ck!!! What did I do to suffer such punishment?' He questioned God even though he knew that he no one would answer his questions.

"Is that a thing to ask...? Obviously..." said Evans' father as he stood up from his chair. He wanted to continue the treatment. He wasn't ready to give up on his only son. Even though there wasn't much time, he wanted to spend as much time as he could with his son.

However, Evans grabbed his father's hand, "This is enough, dad... It's time to let it go. I don't want to spend my remaining days chugging medicines and see you, mom, suffer. Please..." His eyes became wet even though he tried his best to hold them in.

Evans' parents were against his decision. But since he is an adult, the doctors will abide by his decision to stop the treatment. The doctor gave him some painkillers as his last medication. They discharged him after he signed a few papers.

[Two weeks later]

Evans was waiting for his favorite anime, Naruto: The End of Ninja. It was supposed to be a 1-hour finale, and he was glad to be alive to be able to watch the finale before his death.

In the past two weeks, all the great shows like One Piece, Bleach: The Hell Arc, Dragon Ball Remake, and HunterxHunter premiered their finale, and Evans didn't miss a single one. And, finally, it's supposed to be his favorite one.

'Well! At least God kept me alive. I was able to see all the endings. Damn!!! I never expected HunterxHunter to end like that. I think that they are gonna make more movies... Oh, well. My time is almost up...' Evans thought while munching on a pack of Cheetos.

Suddenly, he began to cough, holding his stomach, "Cough!!! Cough!!! Arggg!!!" Evans stumbled on the floor as he tried to reach his painkillers. He grabbed his chest as a piercing pain grasped him. He couldn't even scream.

'The finale... I won't go like this,' Evans gritted his teeth and pushed his body while extending his hand toward the table. He finally got the painkillers. He tried to open the bottle, and it fell on the floor, scattering the pills on the floor.

He took a pill and swallowed it, "Cough!!! Cough!!! F*ck it!!!" He was lying on the floor as the pain slowly subsided, "Blood!" Evans muttered after noticing blood all over his clothes and hands.

However, the sudden announcement on the TV took his attention away for a moment.

<Good news for Narutoverse fans. I know you all are waiting for the explosive finale, so I won't take much of your time.>

<Tada!!! We are glad to announce that the anime will continue through featured movies after today's finale. Seven movies are already in development, and the first movie will be released in the next month...>

"F*ck!!! How could you guys do that? This was supposed to be the ending. Why are you doing this? I... I... Arggg!!! Cough!!! Cough!!! F*ck it all!!!" Evans yelled, but his cough got worse.

So, he calmed his nerves, got up from the floor, and slumped on his bed with a tired expression. He couldn't believe that he won't be able to watch those movies in his life. But he couldn't do anything at this point.

"Well, whatever..." Evans mumbled.

The show began...

The show ended...

Evans was lying still on his bed. His eyes were open. The reflection of the TV could be seen on his iris. He wasn't breathing anymore. There was a drop of tear in the corner of his lifeless eyes.

...

[Drip!!!] A drop of water fell on a water surface.

"Hufff!!!" Evans jumped up in shock, "Oh! I thought I died..." He examined his hands but saw that they were transparent, "Well... F*ck!!! I am dead." He stood up and saw that he was standing on a wet surface.

<Isn't he surprisingly calm in his situation? Poor sod... I choose him.>

<Me too...>

<Well, he at least got a strong mind... I am with him.>

<He got my vote too. It's been too long since anyone accepted their untimely death with happiness in their heart.>

<Me too...>

"Hey, care to explain who you guys are? I can't see anyone other than this wet blue ground and white room," Evans yelled in confusion. He heard some voices and felt thousands of eyes on him. He shivered, "Am I in hell? No offense... But there is nothing here..." He inquired.

<Amazing mentality... I choose him...>

<Hahaha!!! Brat isn't afraid even after death... I vote for him...>
