Chapter 22: Chapter 22: Second Training Level II

(third person POV)

The next morning Lancel continues training with Ser Arthur, Lisa trains with Ser Arthur when Lancel is not training, since he has not yet passed the second level of training.

Lancel started with a sword cut without much force to prevent Ser Arthur from attacking him by deflecting his sword and attacking him in the neck. Ser Arthur, seeing the sword cut, takes his sword by the edge, strikes Lance's wooden sword with the guard and deflects his attack, and then attacks his chin with the pommel.

Lancel wanted to avoid the attack by leaning to his right side, but the speed of the pommel strike still grazed his left cheekbone.

Lancel "Master, you are attacking hard" he tells him rubbing his cheekbone

Ser Arthur "All warriors must bleed" he tells him with a wistful smile.

Ser Arthur initiates the attack with a slash to Lancel's head. Lancel grabs his false edge of the sword and blocks the cut, sending a kick to Ser Arthur's stomach. Ser Arthur slides his sword down, hitting Lancel in the knee with the pommel, avoiding Lancel's blow.

Lancel makes a side slash from left to right which Ser Arthur blocks, but Lancel quickly slides his sword in a slash towards Ser Arthur's chest. Ser Arthur lowers his sword and with the edge deflects the tip of Lancel's sword to his right side and turns his sword quickly giving Lancel a stab in the stomach.

Lancel does the same attack as before trying to be faster in executing it. This time Ser Arthur takes a step back, takes his sword from its false edge and deflects the point of Lancel's sword downwards, and with the guard of his sword moves Lancel's sword upwards and moving a step forward he stabs him in the chest to Lancel

Ser Arthur places the point of his sword on the ground keeping his half guard waiting for Lancel's attack. Lancel sends a thrust to Ser Arthur's chest, Ser Arthur swings his sword upwards stepping to his right avoiding the thrust as he slashes at Lancel's neck.

Lancel sends a swift sword thrust into Ser Arthur's chest. Ser Arthur takes a step to his left and grabs Lancel's right hand pulling him in while his right hand hits him on the chin with the pommel of his sword.

Lancel sends a slash to Ser Arthur's neck, Ser Arthur stops the slash as he crouches down and using the force of Lancel's slash he lets his sword swing to his left diagonally. Causing Lancel's sword to pass hard as he retracts his sword giving him a cut in the left arm to Lancel

Lancel sends a cut to Ser Arthur's neck, which blocks by taking his sword from the edge, slides the sword and with the pommel of it deflects Lancel's sword to his right, as he took a step forward, slashing Lancel's neck with the point of his sword.

Ser Arthur "These are all the movements I perform during combat, you have to practice them and try to avoid them for the next training, I'll give you a month of solo practice" he tells Lancel as Lisa approaches to start her training with Ser Arthur

Lancel "Thank you Master" he tells him as he goes to the side to practice each movement by heart and trying to know how to avoid them.

A month after practicing alone, Lancel is ready to continue his training with Ser Arthur.

Ser Arthur "Are you ready boy?" he tells him as he puts on guard

Lancel "That's right" he tells him, keeping all his focus on Ser Arthur's sword.

Lancel slashes hard at Ser Arthur's abdomen, Ser Arthur blocks the attack and takes a step forward, sliding his sword to land a pommel blow to the chin. Lance takes two quick steps back, avoiding the blow. Then he advances a step taking a thrust towards Ser Arthur's chest, he takes his sword from the edge and deflects the thrust by taking a step to his left, he releases the edge of the sword and turns it using both hands giving a cut towards the abdomen of Lancel.

Lancel parries the slash with his sword guard as he tilts his hands down, quickly placing his right hand on the sword edge and sliding his sword over Ser Arthur's taking a step forward, raising his left hand, sending Ser Arthur's sword slashing above his head and he slides his sword over his right hand sending a thrust to Ser Arthur's throat.

Ser Arthur deflects the attack with the pommel of his sword and takes a step back. Lancel advances two steps and sends a cut from left to right to Ser Arthur's abdomen, Ser Arthur manages to block the cut with the edge of his sword, then slides his sword and attacks Lancel's hands, block the tip of the sword with the guard and he take a step back.

This exchange continues until Lancel receives a blow to the chin and falls to the ground tired from the exchange he had against Ser Arthur. Being on the ground, he thinks that if they were real swords, he would have received several cuts in the exchange of attacks and surely his strength would decline if that happened.

Ser Arthur "With what you have achieved, you only need to fight with real swords" he tells him with a smile on his lips, because his apprentice managed to quickly learn how to fight using the techniques he taught him

Lancel "I still can't... defeat him... Master" he says between gasps

Ser Arthur "No, but you would defeat some of my companions in the royal guard" he tells him remembering his companions in the guard, some dead and others still in the guard serving the Usurper in King's Landing.

(Lancel POV)

At the end of the year 286 a.C. I am ready to leave for the Freehold of Valyria, to find Valyrian steel

Lancel "Lisa, it's not long before I will going to Sunspear" I tell my sister so as not to worry her by telling her where I will going

Lisa "It's okay" she tells me taking my right arm in her arms, then continues "You will must take care of yourself" as if knowing that I'm lying to her

Lancel "I'll get you some good material so my father can make you a good blade" I say patting his head with my left hand

At the beginning of the year 287 a.C. I ask the system to transport me to Tyria
