Chapter 06, Onion-alien Mission, Start.

Tokyo, Gantz-apartment.

In this tiny Tokyo’s apartment, ten people kept appearing one after the other. The way the did that surprised every single one of them as they became it’s witness. Teleportation was only a thing of SF and novels for all they knew. The group showed surprise when the tenth member appeared. A naked teenage girl, who appeared asleep. The members were almost shouting at each other to decided what to do as the eleventh member appeared. Different from them, his look was so incredible it grabbed everyone attention, making them forget the naked girl even. Takashi’s face wasn’t visible as he donned his improved version of the gantz’s suit and helmet. Looking at the member right in front of him in silence, he stopped as he saw the naked girl.

And here I thought they would have covered her at least.

He looked at the other members, acting shocked again in front of Kaze and Sei, before asking her.

“Please help me with her”.

Walking to the black ball, the path in front of him opened like magic. He then went to operate the commands, making the ball open itself. Grabbing the suitcases labeled SHIORI Kishimoto and SAKURAOKA Sei, he went to the still fainted Kishimoto and took her in a princess carry. He then put her down away from the group’s sight in the kitchen. Damping a towel with some water, he soon wiped her face to wake her up. He was careful to act as medicaly as possible, so that no-one could call him a pervert or something else.

“As soon as she wake up, you should both put this suits on and come back to the sphere’s room”. It took care to put an edge to his voice as he talked to her.

He could see Sei looking at him strangely. His face may have been covered by his helmet, but he let his voice normal as he spoke to her.

As the girl finally opened her eyes, Sei was the first person she could see, taking care of her. Takashi was back in the sphere’s room to talk to the group as they all saw the message on the screen.

This sent a stir along the group. So he pursued with his prepared speech without letting them interrupt him.

“I’m not the one who killed you. I’m not the one who chose to bring you here. I’m not the one who chose to give you this second chance as Gantz called it. I’m just a guy like you. Only difference between you guys and me is that I came here way before you. Now you can either listen to gantz and most likely die. Or you can...”

He let the silence linger a moment.

“Come with me, if you want to live”.

I so wanted to use this phrase once in my life.

Takashi saw that Kishimoto and Sei were suited up at last.

“This basic suits will help you try to stay alive in front of what you will all encounter outside. I suggest you to suit up fast. This spherical thing won’t wait for you.”

DAIZEMON Kaze the fighting-maniac Takashi met earlier, MASARU Kato an high-school student, TAKASHI Inamori a blond teenager, and MASASHI Yamada an elementary school teacher, started to change immediately.

Seeing KEI Kurono a classmate of Kato, KIYOSHI Yoshioka a yakusa, HIROSHI Hatanaka also a yakusa and GORO Suzuki an old politician not moving, Takashi talked to them.

“What’re you four waiting for? Don’t want the girls to see you changing? You weren’t embarrassed looking at the naked sleeping beauty earlier.”

“Listen now you piece of...” started Yoshioka, trying to bully him, as a gantz publication appeared on the black ball.

MISSION START IN 30 SECONDS.

As the group looked at the screen, they each showed different reactions.

Kishimoto and Kato seemed reluctant to fight.

Inamori, Yamada and Kaze showed doubts seeing the target.

Sei was holding an x-gun, trying to figure how to use it.

Kurono, Yoshioka, Hatanaka and Suzuki were all looking defiantly at Takashi. As if to call off a bluff.

“Everyone grab a gun of riffle. Numbnuts, grab your suits, I won’t risk my life to save your guts”.

Takashi used this as a distraction to shove Kurono’s briefcase and a x-gun in his arms just in time, as he started to disappear.

Soon they all were in a Tokyo suburb’s dark street. And Takashi saw Suzuki going on his way, surely to his home, while the yakusas were playing with the guns and Kurono tried to get himself changed as fast as possible behind a bush. Thankfully for him, his classmate held his gun for him.

“Alright people, group on me we don’t have the night for all of this. Four things you should remember right now :

- 1 Leaving the mission’s area, showing gantz’s technology or talking about it to a non-gantz-member will have the bomb in our brain explode.

- 2, Every target will want you dead, they won’t show compassion, don’t do it either.

- 3, Your suit can block friendly fire and damages to some point, don’t test it’s limit or you will die tonight.

- 4, Every mission is on timer. Let it reach zero without doing your job will piss off the system. You really don’t want to see him cranky.”

The yakusas earring him, pointed their guns on him.

“So what, you think you can still play balls with us now?”

Takashi raised his arms in front of him. Not to stop them. Not to beg them either. He wasn’t even trying to negotiate with them at all.

“Actually, I can. 5 : Always have a backup plan.”

Two monstrous H-guns appeared in his hands suddenly.

“You really think I would let myself be outgunned by an unknown group without precautions? Are you stupid 24/7 or do you sleep at nigh?”

Seeing the two fidgeting in front of him, he let the silence go for a time, waiting for the planned distraction, and …

BOUM.

A gory pattern was visible around what remained from Suzuki’s body. Chunks of his head visible all around him.
