Chapter 46: Sudden conflict.

After Tiana had left, Seth destroyed the mattress as well before walking towards the storage room, where he found a red-faced Henrietta reading through a space energy book.

He didn’t even say a single word as he walked back into the classroom, leaving the door open. Henrietta closed her book and followed with her head lowered.

“Do you enjoy watching other people have sex?”, asked Seth with a smile after taking his seat back at the desk.

Henrietta shook her head and lowered it. She couldn’t say that she enjoyed it, but she just couldn’t stop looking. Seth sighed and said: “I have no problem with you looking, but you need to speed up your progress.”

“Everyone else is already an ascended and, if you want to hope to ever catch up to them, you’ll need to pun in a lot of effort, even more so with four sources. Collecting energy for all of them is going to take a long time. Also, remember our deal.”

Seeing her nod while opening the book in her hand, Seth said nothing else and closed his eyes to cultivate as well. He knew she was quite a smart girl, so he wasn’t that worried.

He only had one more visitor by the end of the day, but he didn’t provide any extra entertainment for Henrietta.

Maya nodded and turned around with a large grin. “Does that mean you’ll bring her here soon?”

“Maybe.” Shrugged Seth, “I’ll try to propose it to her, but she needs some time to calm down, I guess. I’m going to wait for her to seek me out before I do anything else.”

“That’s fine as well.” Replied Maya before walking into Seth’s arms and pressing her chest against his. “So, do I get some fun tonight?”

Seth grabbed her perky behind and gave her a firm kiss before pushing her into the bed. Maya split her legs, ready to welcome him when Seth turned her around and took his place behind her.

Looking back from the side, Maya bit her lip and asked: “Someone is quite aggressive tonight.”

Seth smiled and moved his hand to rub her dream valley, only for his hand to suddenly freeze.

<Third shell air assassin heading for your parents’ house.>

Heaving a sigh, Seth stood up before saying with a frown: “An assassin is heading for my parents’ house. I need to go.”

Seeing his serious expression, Maya asked: “Do you need help?”

“I should be able to deal with him myself. Sorry about this Maya.”

“No problem. Go.” Said Maya as she moved her hand to her wetland: “I’m a big girl. I can play around alone for a while.”

Seth nodded and teleported away. Once he was gone, Maya removed her hand and sat back up.

Walking up to the window, she started cultivating and whispered with a small smile: “Come back soon.”

“That fucker.”

‘System, since when did the academy have an air ascended assassin?’

<It’s the leader of the assassin corps and is a member of the royal family. He’s the current king’s uncle.>

Seth’s eyes turned cold as he increased his speed, using the system to head directly toward the assassin. When he teleported onto the rooftop of a small shop in the middle ring, Seth could see a group of four assassins rushing towards his parents’ house through a dark alley.

Looking at the one in the middle, surrounded by a layer of air energy, Seth brought out a sword from his storage space and waited patiently.

When the three assassins were passing by an alley next to the building Seth was using as a vantage point, he blinked right in front of them, his sword heading for the air ascended’s head.

The assassin’s eyes widened and a burst of air appeared between his head and the sword, blocking his forward advance in an instant. The other two assassins at the sides also pulled out their daggers and plunged them toward Seth.

Seth smiled at the air ascended and disappeared again. A small grunt and the sound of colliding metals resounded throughout the dark alley next.

The two assassins turned towards their leader after their daggers clashed with each other and were terrified to see an iron sword passing through the leader’s neck from the back. The sword had a small cluster of dark-red energy at the tip, but it disappeared just as the two assassins looked.

With a quick eye signal, the two wished to run away, but just as they took a single step back, both their necks fell from their bodies as a thin thread of destruction energy dissipated into thin air.

Seth pulled his sword to the side, cutting the air ascended’s neck as well before storing the sword back in his storage space. After the air ascended’s body fell to the ground, dead, Seth teleported all their heads and bodies inside his storage space before leaving.

He knew the king will know it was him that hid it anyway, so he went in the royal palace’s direction to send a message. After waiting for his space energy to recover, he stealthily made his way inside the palace before creating three spikes in the garden and impaling the three heads on them.

<Host, Iris might intervene since you have killed a member of the royal family.>

‘I know, but showing weakness will only make things worse. Let’s hope I can make her understand…’

Once he was done, he quickly rushed back to the academy and sneaked back inside. Maya was waiting for him on the bed, cultivating.

Feeling Seth teleport inside, she opened her eyes and asked: “I suppose it went well?”

Seth nodded with a smile and came to the bed to kiss her. After a simple kiss, Maya nodded and asked: “Do you mind giving me some help with something?”

“No problem. What is it?”

“I don’t understand what I’m supposed to do to break through to the seventh shell. I tried poking at the shell to see how much energy I would need, but nothing happened.”

“Oh, that. Well, you should just focus on accumulating energy for now. To break through it, you’ll need a different theory. To be exact, you’ll need soul theory.”

The two got dressed and left for their class next. Seth gave the practicing girls some tips before answering some questions Henrietta had and cultivating at his desk.

Just as his classes were about to be over, his door opened and an angry Iris stepped in. Fixing her eyes on Seth, she asked: “Are you out of your mind?”

Seth opened one eye to look at her before turning towards Henrietta. “Go in the back. No peeking this time. There won’t be anything interesting for you to see anyway.”

Henrietta nodded and walked in the back obediently. Turning back to the fuming Iris, Seth asked: “What are you talking about?”

Seth could see flames slowly manifesting around her body as Iris said: “Don’t even try to get out of this. If I don’t get a good explanation for you killing a member of the royal family, you’re going to die here.”

Seeing that her energy was gathering, Seth sighed and shook his head. “What was I supposed to do? That assassin was heading for my family. Was I supposed to let the royal family kill mine?”

Iris clenched her fists as a clear sign of struggle appeared in her eyes, causing Seth to say: “Don’t do anything stupid and you can tell that to the king as well before….”

Iris stopped listening and energy surged out of her body, covering almost the entire academy. Seth knew she was serious and without a moment of hesitation, tapped into his divinity.

A surge of destruction exploded out of his body, wiping all of Iris’s energy in the atmosphere in an instant. The entire academy became devoid of fire and air energy.

Iris shook as she felt all the energy around her disappear and took a step back, her eyes trembling in their sockets. She was looking at Seth with pure terror in her eyes.

Seth used energy to teleport the blood in his throat under the desk and said: “Leave now before you regret it. This is your last warning.”

Iris’s body shook at his words and she walked backward, but stumbled on her own steps and fell to the ground. Seeing Seth standing up, she started crawling backward pathetically until she was out of the building where she flew out.

Once she was out, Seth also fell to his knees and started throwing up blood all over the ground.

‘Damn it, Iris.’ Cursed Seth as he quickly sat down cross-legged and started working on patching the holes in his source.

Henrietta walked out with her entire body shaking, and, seeing all the blood around Seth, slowly walked up to him. “Are you alright?”

Seth nodded without opening his eyes and said: “I’m fine. Leave me and tell the other girls to not bother me as well. Continue studying like normal, but lock the door. One of my sources is injured.”

Henrietta nodded and rushed outside to inform the other girls as well. She then walked outside to remove the sign and lock it up. When she just took the sign in, a panicked Maya rushed by her and walked up in front of Seth.

Kneeling next to him, she looked at the blood below and asked in worry: “Are you injured? Can I help?”

Seth smiled and shook his head. “It’s fine. I injured one of my sources and need to patch up the damage so I won’t lose too much progress.”

Maya nodded and asked nothing before sitting down next to him. Seeing Henrietta looking at her awkwardly, Maya said: “Find something else to do. I’ll watch over him.”

After Maya was gone in the back to study, only Seth and Maya were left in the classroom. She said nothing as she kept Seth company while cultivating herself.

Three days passed like this, a time in which Seth didn’t speak another word and Maya just silently stood watch by his side. Seth was focusing on recovering as quickly as possible and making sure nothing happened to his parents.

Luckily, the king was spooked enough to not try anything else for the moment. The fact that Iris wouldn’t respond to any of his summons terrified him to no end.

Three days later, Seth finally opened his eyes and heaved a long sigh.

Maya did the same and looked at him: “Are you alright now?”

Seth nodded and felt his destruction source. The damage was still there, but his energy was no longer leaking out.

‘How much did I lose?’

‘That’s fine, all things considered.’

Smiling toward Maya, he grabbed hold of her hand and said: “Thank you for keeping watch over me.”
