Chapter 47: Patching things up

Maya nodded and asked: “What happened? Did you and Iris fight? I could feel her energy all the way to my class.”

Seth shook his head and said: “Fight is a big word. More like she threatened me and I threatened her back.”

Looking at the dried-up blood on the carpet, Maya raised an eyebrow and asked: “What about that?”

“Do you think I can threaten a peak sixth shell ascended with no repercussions? My source is in shambles.”

Maya frowned and asked: “So that energy that wiped out Iris’s was your destruction energy?”

“Indeed, but I won’t be able to do something like that again for a while if I want to keep my life…” said Seth with a sigh.

“But how is that possible… aren’t you in the second shell? There’s no way you can destroy all her energy, even with the destruction energy’s advantage over others.”

“I’ll tell you about it another day.”, replied Seth as he slowly stood up and stretched his body, trying to ignore the pain coming from the right side of his chest where his destruction source was placed.

Maya helped him up and nodded. “It’s fine if you don’t want to tell me, but can you at least tell me what happened with Iris? It’s not normal for her to react like that.”

Seth created a small mattress in the center of the class and sat down before saying: “The assassins I took care of. One of them was a royal.”

“Oh… now it makes sense.”, said Maya with a sigh before sitting down next to him. “Couldn’t you have just beaten him up? You should know she won’t joke around when it comes to royal descendants.”

“I could have, but the king will only get bolder. Now, even if I got seriously injured, I intimidated both the royals and Iris. When even his trump card, Iris, couldn’t do anything against me, he will finally stay out of my business, at least for a while.”

Maya nodded, and they both lay down on the soft mattress, falling asleep in each other’s arms. Seth was exhausted from patching up his source over the last three days, while Maya was not much less tired from staying awake to keep watch over him.

Henrietta and the other girls just ignored the two sleeping in the middle of the classroom and walked out in the evening.

Maya and Seth woke up close to the morning of the next day. Seth woke up first and looked at the ceiling of the classroom while speaking with the system.

Nodding, Seth turned to his right and pecked the sleeping Maya’s forehead.

Looking up, Maya rubbed her eyes and said: “Is it morning already?”

“Yes. You should go. You’ve been missing class for three days now. I’ll be fine.”

Maya nodded, and they shared a small kiss before she left to go back to class. Seth also cleaned up the classroom and sat back down in his chair.

The girls came in not long after Maya left, and all came towards him when they saw him at the desk. Caitlin was the first to open her mouth to speak, only to be stopped by Seth’s words.

“I’m fine. I just injured my destruction source in an argument with Iris and had to take some time to recover, but all is alright now. Resume your training and mention nothing about this outside the classroom.”

Caitlin closed her mouth and pouted as she followed the others as they were already leaving for the training room. Henrietta was the only one still standing there, apparently hesitating about something.

“Did your father tell you?” asked Seth, already knowing the answer.

Henrietta nodded before saying: “I want you to know that I don’t blame you and I won’t listen to my father’s words. Please don’t kick me out.”

Raising an eyebrow, Seth chuckled and said: “Why would I kick you out? You’re one of my students and I couldn’t care less about your origin. As long as you want to remain here, I will not throw you out. Go to your seat.”

Seth was worried she might be bearing a grudge, but there was no sign of that in her aura, so he didn’t get too deep into the subject.

Henrietta nodded and returned to her seat to continue studying. Seth cultivated for a while as well, but he soon tired of the pain his destruction source was bringing him and took a break. 

Leaving the classroom, he locked the door and walked towards the exit of the academy. He could see how the guards there stepped away from him, which made him realize they also received orders to not bother him.

Smiling lightly, he first went by his home and found his parents in the outside courtyard, speaking to some people Seth didn’t know. Since the system hadn’t alerted him of anything, he figured they were no threat and approached everyone.

“Mom, dad. Sorry for not passing by in a while.”

Nash and Hilda smiled at him while Nash said: “No problem. How come you are not in class?”

“I have some free time right now.” Replied Seth before looking at the man that was speaking to his parents earlier, who was now looking quite awkward, not knowing what to do.

Seeing Seth’s eyes fall on him, the man panicked and fell to his knees. “Ascended Seth.”

Seth nodded and said: “Stand up. If you are a friend of my parents, there is no need for you to kneel.”

Turning back towards his parents, he didn’t want to make things more awkward there and said: “I just wanted to check if you are well and need anything else, so I will soon return to the academy.” 

“Pearl, come with me for a bit.”

After saying his goodbyes to his parents, he gave some gold and books to Pearl before leaving his house as well. As he was returning to the academy, he passed by the library again and an idea came to him. Working with the system, he took about five minutes to plagiarize a book from the records.

The library was just as empty as last time, but he found Aleena at the main desk. She immediately got up when she spotted Seth.

“Don’t.” Said Seth, seeing she was trying to come forth and kneel, “I’m already tired of that.”

Aleena nodded and remained standing before asking: “Anything I can help you with, Ascended Seth?”

Seth smiled when he noticed she was a lot more relaxed than last time and placed the book he made outside on her desk.

“I know you’ve probably read all the books here a couple of times, so I thought a new story might interest you. Consider it a donation to the library.”

Aleena picked up the book and looked at the title. Noticing the title was unfamiliar to her, she lifted her eyes to thank Seth, but he was already gone. Not worrying too much about it, she sat back down and opened the first page of the book.

‘What do you mean? You really don’t know what I’m doing?’

Maya looked up from a book she was reading next to Henrietta and asked: “Don’t you have a key?”

Seth shrugged and, ignoring Henrietta’s presence, pulled her into his arms, making the book she was reading fall to the ground. Grabbing her perked ass, he kissed her lips passionately.

Maya moved her arms around his neck and followed his lead, kissing for a good minute. Once she pulled back, she looked at Henrietta from the corner of her eyes and said: “We have… spectators.”

“How do I look?”

“That’s fine with me. Let’s go.” Said Maya immediately. 

Seth sighed when he noticed she was serious and grabbed her outstretched hand.

The two locked the door and headed for Seth’s room when they spotted an antsy-looking Tiana pacing back and forth in front of the door. The sound of footsteps made her stop as she turned around with her head lowered and she said: “I thought about it and wanted to accept your offer.”

Maya smiled and covered Seth’s lips with her finger to keep him from speaking before walking closer and saying in a fake, angry tone.

“And what would that deal be, Teacher Tiana?”
