"It is an honor to meet you, your majesty." Spoke Akshan as his son hid behind him.

The prince stared at this with no expression, signaling with his hand for the guards to stand up.

The General Ahmed walked up next to him and bowed.

The prince moved his hand again.

Ahmed spoke, "His is their chief, named Akshan."

There was a moment of silence.

The prince moved his hand again.

The General spoke to the travelers, "Raise."

The group of gypsies stood up by the command.

"Do you know why you are here, Akshan." Spoke the prince as he stared at him, who still couldn't meet his eyes.

"For failing my duty as a their chieftain. And in that your people almost suffered a bad fate."

The temperature of the room changed, bringing shiver throughout everyone's spines.

"Almost?" His voice grew colder.

Akshan bowed again, not daring to raise his head nor eyes.

"I apologize for my mistake, your highness!" Sweat could be seen from his forehead as he bowed harder.

The prince's eyes met those who stood behind the chief.

Silence filled the room once again.

Salman followed the prince's sight.

And it fell on the chief's daughter, who didn't lower her gaze, but kept staring back.

Everyone noticed.

Salman gritted his teeth angrily.

The prince, without saying walked towards the chief, who couldn't raise his head in fear.

"Move aside." The cold and dominearing voice made Akshan shake and move involuntarily.

Only then did he raise his head in confusion. Watching the prince's eyes not leaving his daughter.

He hesitated to jump in.

The prince stood in front of her. Staring at her from above, being much taller than her.

While she just looked ahead, not meeting his eyes anymore.

Her height peaked at his chest, or a little less.

He raised his hand filled with scars.

His big fingers filled with black metallic rings and gems slowly held her brown garment on her face.

Nobody could say a word.

He gently took it off her face.

You could hear the gasps of his men behind him.

The prince's eyes stood expressionless.

While there were traces of fear, she finally raised her hazel eyes to meet his.

The prince took a moment, as if he was bewitched.

Her eyes trembeled at his dark pupils, not knowing where to look anymore she looked down.

Salman suddenly screamed. Jumped on the prince. Throwing a punch.

The prince brushed it off with his shoulder without much trouble. Leading Salman to struggle to maintain his balance.

"Are you his woman?" Asked the prince.

She took a moment, before shaking her head.

"I would have apologized for my behavior if he was. But now," he turned to Salman. "Explain yourself young man." His voice grew colder.

Salman didn't seam to reason and jumped again on the prince with another punch.

The prince's eyelids fell halfway, his eyes looked half dead.

He moved his head slightly dodging the punch. Raised his hand at an immense speed that seemed blurry to everyone else.

Cracks.

AHHHHHH..

Screams of Salman shook the room as he fell to the ground.

His elbow was broken. Making his arm face the other way in a very uncomfortable scene.

The prince held Salman's hand as he was falling to the ground.

Holding it tightly and raised it with a twist.

Another disturbing series of cracking sounds stepped on the gypsies' hearts as they watched.

Salman's mouth coughed white fog as he screamed and howled.

Soon enough he passed out from the pain.

The prince's men didn't move. As if this was a common occurrence.

No one said a word other than the kids, wimpering in fear even while having their eyes covered.

"Akshan," spoke the prince.

"Y-yes, your highess."

"You will be slaves for a year. I know you all dance well, some sew, while some can do labor. So I am waiting for your performances. Starting today."

He turned to look at him, making Akshan tremble with his frightening gaze bowing in fear.

It seemed he wasn't mistaken that someone kept watching them in the oasis.

The prince turned to walk away, not caring about Salman on the ground.

He paused, looked at the chief's daughter by the side.

"What is your name?"

She look a deep look at his back. "Laila."

He walked away with his men without saying more.

the remaining ones tended to hold Salman, taking him away.

No one could say a word in his defense.

Even those who knew his love for Laila.

The prince only took off her shemagh. Otherwise everyone here would fight him to death.

And again, everyone here knew, they became slaves.

They deemed themselves lucky to become slaves for the spam of a year. And slaves to such a man.

They were still treated normally and kindly by the guards, who took the liberty of explaining to them.

Working for free and not leaving the town. They will even be provived shelter and food.

They couldn't ask for more. They were still respected as human beings.

Akshan held his daughter's hands alongside his wife and son.

Nobody could deny that the prince may have interest in her.

Her mother already started crying and imagining scenarios where her daughter would become a sex slave to him.

The atmosphere hardened and they tried their best to calm her down.

Especially Laila, who seemed the most calm out of everyone.

"Did you see how everyone was laughing outside. How they could wear as much jewelry as they wanted and walked unworried of theft. Even vegetable merchants had silver wear." Spoke one of the close men to the chief.

Everyone joined the conversation, nodding at his words.

"He seems like a generous ruler. But, at the same time..."

Everyone looked down in worry.

He was as much cruel if not more.

A guard suddenly spoke. "Being like that is what made the people have that kind of lifestyle in this city. Being that cruel to injustice. Being more terrifying than the evil doers. Yet as generous as a god. He excels at both virtue and the sword. That is the being you saw today."

The guard looked at the people with pride in his eyes as an another took his place. He could only speak after his shift was over.

He smiled and left.

The man who took his place stood as a statue as his shift started. Uncaring of all the questions the gypsies asked him.

Laila kept reminiscing everything that happened.

From one night they turned from free travelers to slaves.

"Kharrast kingdom. First prince."

She sighed, thinking to herself.

"I still don't know his name."

She thought about his hand taking off her garment.

This was the first time she saw a royalty with such rough skin on his hand, with so many scars.

No, he was not the first one.

But yet why, did it feel like even his fingers were like swords.

Again, no. As if he himself, was the sharpest sword standing in front of her.

Soon enough came the guards with new orders.

Holding them and taking each to their soon to be jobs.

Akshan alongside his wife stared at their daughter being left with the dancers.

They both knew how amazing Laila danced. But that only gave them more reasons to be worried about her from the greed of men. Especially in this situation.

The guards left the dancers in different cells according to their genders so they could change into more fitting clothes.

Laila hid her face with a veil. She would have loved to do the same to her eyes.

She sighed.

The female knights kept guard for this cell, which was a bit of a first for the gupsies to see. Female knights.

Laila finished dressing before the others, and decided to start a conversation with one of the female guards.

"Hello, excuse me."

The female guard turned, her eyebrows twitched as her eyes fell on Laila's.

"Yes?"

"Do you, perhaps know who we are going to be dancing in front of?"

"The prince and his people, of course."

"Hmm," Laila took a moment to think. "Can you, tell me what kind of man, he is?"

The female guard sighed. "I believe you should give up. His majesty knows nothing but war and his duties as a prince. All the women whom approached him were fully rejected."

Laila's ears became red, her eyes trembled as she got embarassed.

The female guard noticed and shyed away from Laila's stare. "Ehem, I don't know. If it's you..."

Laila got even more embarassed and started spewing nonsense, "me? no, no, no, I could never, no, no, no..." frustrated she shook her head.
