One moment I was inside the egg shaped coffin, the next moment, I found myself standing in the middle of a battlefield.

Everything was on fire. Burning trees, burning carts, burning corpses of unknown creatures formed a thick, black veil of smoke. The rain was falling heavily, yet the fire just kept on burning. Behind the smoke, I saw silhouettes of people fighting. People with wings and their enemies were monsters with different sizes. I heard yelling, shouting, and grunting. I heard thousands, no, tens of thousands of different voices. And in those voices, showed the elements of pain, anger, horror, yet some determination and pride.

And then, tearing through the air, the sound of something roared, followed by thousands of demonic, maniacally laughs. There were big monsters, some stomping the ground, some flapping its wings sending their little opponents flying.

And then, I noticed the thing I was familiar with the most. That smell, that alluring smell that filled the air!

Blood!

Blood was everywhere.

My mind got excited.

I then looked around, saw a puddle of blood formed under a nearby corpse of a giant monster. Ahhh… I inhaled. Delicious. However, since I didn’t know that creature, I refrained from doing anything. After all, I learnt my lesson. Some blood might smell amazing, but might also be deadly to drink.

So, I only approached the puddle of blood and looked down onto it. And here it was, my own reflection. Under the bloodstained heavy white armor, I was not myself anymore, but instead…

A humanoid creature with wings!?

So I was the same as those winged people fighting monsters?

And wait a minute! I realized. What was that thing on top of my head?

A small ring that was glowing and spinning.

A halo?

It was like.., I was… an angel?

What the hell was going on?

But as soon as I asked myself that question, someone suddenly approached me.

“Who?”

I raised my shining longsword, pointing directly at him.

“Woahh! Wait!”

The person who answered turned out to be one of my kind. He too, was wearing heavy armor and had wings. But instead of four wings like me, there were only two on his back.

“Commander, it’s me! Raziel!”

Raziel?

Raziel proceeded to get closer. But I had no memory of that name. Therefore…

“One more step and I will cut your head off!”

“Woah!” Raziel shouted. “Easy!”

“Answer me, where am I?” I asked.

“Oh no, Commander!” Raziel suddenly gasped and pointed his finger towards my right arm. “Is that a Yugan’s bite?”

“Huh?” I muttered. “Yugan?”

I looked at my arm, and saw a piece of armor on my right arm was missing, revealing my skin and on it, there was a bite mark oozing out blood that was mixed with some kind of green liquid.

“What the hell?” I held onto my arm. My thought was, how the heck did this kind of wound go unnoticed!?

But then I also realized.

I wasn’t feeling any pain though.

“Yugan are demonic creatures that usually feast on memories, commander!” Raziel explained to me. “Its poison can cause memory loss, hallucination and confusion.” He then gave me a bottle of golden liquid. “Here, drink this, it may help!”

I received the bottle, yet still remained skeptical and held onto my sword in case Raziel was actually tricking me. Yes, I had to be cautious. I looked at the bottle, and to my surprise, some text suddenly appeared within my vision.

<Heavenly Panacea.

Mythical grade

Effect: Cure all illness and grant debuff immunity for the next 2 minutes>

“Hey, what the hell are these letters?” I then asked. “Why can those letters float in the air like this?”

However, when I tried to touch those letters, my hand just went right through it.

“Oh no!” Raziel gasped. “Commander, don’t tell me you already forgot about your ability? Our Father in Heaven gave you the Eye of Truth, which can reveal the very nature of everything, including items!”

“Oh? Is that so?” I said. “Interesting, but that’s not enough for me to trust you yet!”

So I tossed the bottle back to Raziel, made him drink it first, then I drank another bottle once I confirmed that it was safe to drink.

And instantly when my tongue touched that golden liquid, I could feel it.

Memories of things started flooding into my head.

My name was Lucien, created by the Almighty God and was one of many Commanders in the army of angels. Four-winged Cherubim, only below that of a six-winged Seraphim.

A few weeks ago, we received a mission to rescue and escort a mythical creature back to Heaven. It was the Spirit of Light, one of the nine primordial spirits which were trapped in Hell by the Demon Queen.

We successfully retrieved it, but on our way back, we were noticed by the demons. Hence, the Demon Queen sent out her army to destroy us. We already sent our message asking for reinforcement, but it would take quite some time for them to arrive. So now, in this battlefield, I would have to stand by my fellow angels to fight the demons and protect this spirit of Light.

Yes, at any cost, even if it was my life.
