"Are you crazy? I know it is hard for everyone to find a way to survive. But this thing is not necessary, isn't it? It will involve lives, real lives. Think about it, Peter."

"Why are you reacting too big? That was just a suggestion."

"And I can become the volunteer to test that out if you guys are afraid."

"Who's afraid? We just don't want somebody to do mindless thing."

"Come on, man. You don't need to go into the herd of monsters. You just have to step out of the door and let them see you at that time. If they would attack you, these necklaces are useless. And there might be an unknown reason which caused the monsters to not attack them."

"Alright gentlemen, calm down! Okay? Finish your jobs first and argue later when you got back into the house. Now, we are in the battlefield and we are not sure where the monsters went. We even have no idea about when they are coming again. But, we gotta be extra careful. You good?"

On the Jasmine street, in front of Julia's house, there was only a car left. The other three were driven away by Thomas and his brothers two hours ago. But the dead bodies of several people were left on the street just in situ together with corpses of wolves.

Originally, Kevin wanted to shoot these guys when he saw them getting into cars. But for unknown reason, he chose to follow the advice of Brian. After all, these kids all grew up in front of their eyes. As long as these kids didn't want to endanger them, he didn't want to attack them either. Otherwise, he should have blown up the car with rockets in the first place. But he didn't do it. He was leaving a chance to these kids to survive like Brian said.

As for them being responsible for the monsters invasion, Brian didn't think Kevin's news was entirely right. For an old experienced veteran, he could tell the real mastermind behind them or the one who did that might be actually Kyle in the story.

Of course, if they would still dare to come back and hit their mind on them again, he would not hesitate to use every means to kill these dangerous species. Especially, Kyle, Brian would not mind to kill him if he dared to come their place. Brian even wanted to take the lads and search around the town for Kyle.

Now, the old man was guiding the grown men to clean up the battlefield while holding an old fashioned kerosene lamp in one hand and a shotgun in another.

After hearing the arguments between Kevin and Peter, his dried mouth couldn't help but twitched.

Brian felt that the words of both of them made sense, especially the conclusion from that kid Peter. However, he felt that Peter was acting strange at sometimes. It was as if Peter's thoughts would become messy at sometimes for unknown reasons.

Brian picked up a skull necklace from the corpse on sidewalk.

Kevin asked, "Old man, are you sure we are just here to loot and not moving these bodies? These corpses are going to produce foul smells and unhealthy environment if we leave them here like that."

Brian scolded him while carefully looking at the necklace, "Are you stupid? We can easily test it out whether these necklaces would be working or not with these corpses. Take the necklaces from them.
