Primeval Happiness
In the center of the city a looming figure casts its shadow. It was the Golden Tower, Built hundreds of years ago by blood and gold. Atop this tower stands the King, the ruler of the city. He was the one who brought the government and major corporations to their knees He earned this status not through birthright alone.
The city was used to be ruled by three major powers, he was born as the heir of one of these powers, The Mafioso. The balance of power was a standard trifecta, one organization can’t move against another lest they leave their backs to the third power.
But the King was not satisfied with his status, he wanted more… he wanted the entire city. He managed to break this delicate balance. Who knew all you needed to do was introduce a fourth power.
Now here he was sitting on his golden throne, looking down upon the world. He felt a deep satisfaction in his chest. He built this… he fought and conquered to get this status. He trampled upon the prides of many powerful people. The King can’t help but smile with that thought.
“There is nothing better than conquering others” The King thought.
The King reveling in his own superiority was soon interrupted by a knock on his door.
“Enter: The King said.
The doors to his golden throne room swung open. A man dressed in blue military clothes soon entered. The Commander kept his eyes to the floor as he walked into the room. Gazing into the figure of The King is considered a crime as dictated by him.The commander soon came to the middle on the room and knelt respect and fear for his life.
“State your business” The King’s domineering voice filled the room. No doubt that the commander will be killed if this matter was trivial.
“Y-your highness, Subject ##71011 has been found in the sewer systems, how should we proceed” The commander went straight to the point.
“You need me for this?” THe King mocked. “Well… it is a bit important” The King contemplated for a moment of what his verdict would be for the escaped animal.
“Just kill it.” He said deciding on a whim.
“But your highness, the Scientist said that the subject is prime research material”

“Do you perhaps have no ears?” The King calmly said.
A jolt ran up the commander’s spine.
“Sorry your highness I’ll get right on it”
The commander hastily went out of the room, not wanting to spend any more time in his presence. As for the King, he never once looked back… still gazing at the city. At his possession. Though this did not mean the King didn’t feel anything from the recent interaction. No. He felt extreme bliss.
The feeling of being above someone and having them tread carefully around you was a nice feeling. Without even looking he felt the army commander’s fear. The way his body was stiff and unnatural. His higher rate of breathing and how he never raised his head to look at him. He saw it all through the reflection of the window.
Truly there was no greater feeling than trampling one someone’s power and system of beliefs. That’s what he felt when he blackmailed the government with their own dirt. How he savored the face of fear when he threatened the corporate heads with their lives. And how much he delighted in trampling on his brother’s dream.
His poor little brother…
The man who created the fourth faction . All he wanted to do was help the poor and turn the slums into something more. But he was taken advantage of, used as a distraction as I dug up the governments dirt and infiltrated the core staff of the corporations. When the other two powers destroyed the new faction it was already too late.
The best part is the King never fully destroyed any of them. The government still has its power, the corporations retained its commodity and his brother is out and on the loose. And yet here he was on the middle of the city, taking residence upon the highest tower.
He’s basically saying “The person responsible for your misery is right here. And you can’t do nothing bout’ it”.
He felt constantly under watched by a bunch of hungry wolves surrounding him and observing, looking for any weakness and he just can’t wait for one of them to pounce. The moment they do he will king them down and trample them to the ground once again. He will show them true superiority.
He’ll wrestle them to the ground and take a couple of their claws and teeth. Leaving just enough for them to bite another time. This feeling of superiority, of power is the kind of drug the King desires.
If you ask why doesn’t the King just trample upon the weak, he would say:
“Trampling upon the weak is fun. But trampling upon those who think they are superior and those who are superior… tearing their beliefs apart and stripping them of their powers one by one… there’s no greater happiness”.
