Meanwhile, after Tatyana separated from the group, she began walking around the town, trying to find a place to stay. It wasn't too crowded, and she could walk comfortably, keeping her distance from the people walking in the streets.
Her red eyes observed the surroundings with interest. It was her first time seeing so many people in one place. Most of the people walking had dark eyes and hair, and their skin was on the fairer side.
She was quite average height-wise at a little bit more than 160 cm. Tatyana wanted to be taller, and she knew (hoped) that she would still grow taller.
In the middle of the streets, carriages occupied it, some going very fast. Tatyana frowned, 'That's dangerous. What would they do if someone came in their way?'
The creatures pulling the carriages were varied. Most of them looked like the horses she had seen in the past. Others looked like bulls but slender and more agile. Others looked like big brown lizards.
It was very mixed.
On the roadside, there were a lot of shops. After looking from afar, Tatyana could see the high number and variety of articles sold. She had never seen many foods, items, clothes, and tools sold in the road stalls.
Every seller was shouting aloud, speaking about prices and other things, gaining the attention of the many passersby. Tatyana blinked and realized they hadn't talked to her even when she walked closer. Tatyana scrunched her nose cutely and humphed, 'It is not like I wanted to experience being shouted at!'
Moreover, she didn't have any money, so she could only use her belongings to trade in case she wanted to buy something. After realizing that the only things valuable to her were her books and sword, she frowned. 'Should I sell one of the books? I could copy their content and then sell them to gain a lot of money.'
However, they were one of the few things the maid left her, probably coming from her biological mother. Hence, even if she had read it so often that she could write the entire book backward, she didn't want to sell it.
Tatyana stopped walking and looked around, 'Let's first try to become a medical assistant. Even if I have to sleep in the streets for some days, I can easily bear it.'
She saw a middle-aged woman carrying a basket and wearing a flowery dress. 'She looks kind and gentle. I will ask her.'
Tatyana approached and called her, "Excuse me, could you answer some questions?"
The woman turned and saw a dirty girl coming her way, 'A beggar?'
However, the moment she registered her face, her eyes widened, 'Not a beggar. A very beautiful and young beggar!'
Tatyana, not knowing that she currently looked quite miserable, asked with a respectful tone. "Miss, where is the nearest clinic?"
The woman lifted an eyebrow and said, "Girl, you must have some money if you want to visit it."
Tatyana blinked, confused, "Money for visiting the doctor?"
The woman laughed at her shocked face, "Isn't it normal?"
Tatyana frowned, "Why would doctors charge for healing people?"
The woman shrugged, "They also have to gain their bread, right? Moreover, their tools should be expensive."
Tatyana was even more confused since they always took their ingredients from the forest nearby and made their own tools. "A-anyway, where is the nearest clinic, miss? This is my first time in this town."
The woman upgraded Tatyana to a "Beautiful wandering beggar." She decided to tell her the way, 'Hmm, I will send her to that one since they are the most gentle ones... Other clinics might beat her up if she appears there.'
"You must walk to the end of the street and go right. The fifth building to your left is the clinic. Be careful, little girl."
Tatyana smiled and said, "Thank you, miss!"
"Oh my~, such a beautiful girl you are. Take care, and do not be deceived by bad people."
Tatyana nodded and walked away.
The middle-aged woman thought to herself, "I have to tell Sister Xiao about this. Wasn't the Hui family interested in some of her pills? Maybe she can take this girl with her and teach her the Merchant trade. A beautiful face like hers is hard to find; with the right education, she can reach far."
Tatyana walked down the street and reached the building the woman had told her about. It was quite big for a clinic, with a total of three floors and occupying three houses worth of land. 'So big! I never knew clinics could be this big...'
She didn't see anyone in front of the gates, so she approached with careful steps. After going through the open doors, she entered a welcoming hall. The walls were a shooting white, together with dark brown and light grey furniture. It was, in general, quite relaxing. Tatyana thought that it looked quite different from her mother's mainly wooden clinic.
'They must have built it this way to relax their patients!' Tatyana concluded. Yet she was wrong; it was decorated that way because it was the general trend in these clinics to build their businesses. They gave a more professional ambiance, and people inadvertently respected the place more.
Tatyana saw people lining up to speak with the receptionist, a middle-aged woman, and also went behind them, patiently waiting for her turn. She could more or less hear their conversations, so she paid attention while looking down to understand how things worked.
This made her not realize the looks other people gave her.
Tatyana realized that the things these people complained about were quite similar to those she had heard in her hometown. Various methods to heal them flashed in her mind, and she was ready to use them when they asked about her experience.
After half an hour, her turn arrived. The middle-aged receptionist had a very welcoming disposition. Her temper was moderate, she was soft-spoken, and her gestures were respectful. Speaking with her would make you relax and encourage you to tell her the problems more honestly.
Tatyana also felt comfortable looking at her and prepared to speak.
When the woman saw Tatyana, she was surprised.
The little red-eyed beauty in front of her looked travel-worn; her hair was messy, and her skin was somewhat dirty. Her robe was slightly torn in the limbs as if she had used them to move pointy objects like thorns.
However, those ruby-like round eyes carried natural innocence in them. Although she looked somewhat bad, it was clear that she was a good child at heart.

Her smile became gentle, thinking she was someone from a poor family, and she treated her softly. "Hello, little girl. Is someone from your family ill? If you want help, don't worry too much about the price, we can make payments in installments or other options."
Tatyana smiled, thinking that she was quite a good person. She shook her head and said, "No, I was here to look for work. I know about medicine, so I wanted to work as an assistant here."
The woman was surprised and then frowned. 'Is she in dire need of money? However, she shouldn't lie like this.'
"Little girl, although I find you somewhat pitiful, lying like that is not good. You have to understand that this trade is something that requires knowledge."
Tatyana was startled, "Eh? I did not lie, I-"
The woman interrupted, "Claiming that you are a healer is putting the lives of others at risk. Even if you want a job, it is not good to lie like that. We have other jobs like a sweeper or a maid that you can take if you need money."
Tatyana tried to speak again, getting more anxious by the second. "But I really know-"
The woman interrupted again. This time her tone carried disappointment."Sigh, to think someone so young and beautiful can be so devious. Go, little girl. I will forgive you since you are young and do not know better. Others will not be as gentle; you have to be careful."
Tatyana wanted to stomp the ground out of frustration. 'Why doesn't she let me speak?'
Tatyana tried again, raising her voice. "Miss! I can prove-"
However, to Tatyana's surprise, the woman turned left and shouted, interrupting her one more time. "Guards! Take out the little girl. Do not be rude to her; she is young, after all."
Tatyana opened her eyes, completely shocked. 'She would call the guards for this!?'
Before she realized two tall men came to her sides and grabbed her arms. Then, they slowly turned with her and carried her outside.
Tatyana didn't resist because she was too shocked to react.
When she was outside, she woke up and turned toward the clinic. One guard said, "Girl, we won't let you enter, so you better go."
Tatyana looked at the two tall, intimidating men and got cowered. Although the young girl probably had enough strength to beat them, seeing two muscular, big men looking down at her was terrifying.
Instead of walking inside, Tatyana resolved to try one more time. She shouted and said, "Is listening to me that much of a time loss? I'm from a medical family!"
The middle-aged woman heard her shout but didn't answer. 'How can someone from a medical family look like a beggar? They are all very wealthy. That little girl is too much! Maybe I shouldn't have been so gentle to teach her a lesson.'
Tatyana stood at the door for another ten seconds until one guard said to her. "Little girl, please leave before we have to get physical."
Tatyana looked at them and shrunk. Her heart was beating fast out of frustration and some fear, so she asked meekly. "Can you tell me where the other clinics are?"
The guards didn't answer. One of them even unsheathed the sword at his waist.
Tatyana was startled and ran away in fear. Then, she entered an isolated alley and stopped to catch her breath, looking back just in case.
When she saw that no one was coming, the feeling of frustration exploded, and she directly stomped the ground repeatedly. 'Why doesn't she let me speak!? Is it that much trouble giving me one minute of her time? Bad woman! Very bad woman! Umm, silly woman!'
Running out of insults, Tatyana stopped stomping the ground. Her breathing was ragged, as it tired her doing that. 'Why are people so unreasonable!? First the townspeople, next Ruo Yun, and now the receptionist! At least Sister Shi Ning, brother Hao Junjie, and the woman in the streets were gentle.'
However, when she looked at the floor, her eyes widened. There was a deep footprint on the hard soil, some centimeters deep. 'W-Wow! I'm really strong!' Tatyana crossed her arms and harrumphed, 'The next time, I will beat up the guards!'
However, thinking about their size, some natural fear came to her. 'I-I will only beat them up if they provoke me!'
Tatyana then thought with optimism, 'There are more clinics in the town! I'm sure I will be able to find a job.'
Tatyana walked outside the alley and had to ask another ten people to reach the next clinic, mainly because most of them ignored her.
Again frustrated at the disregard people had toward her, Tatyana entered the next clinic. Who would have expected the same result to repeat? Well, most likely most of you, right?
However, even though a similar scene was repeated, Tatyana tried to speak about her knowledge before the man in the receptionist position interrupted.
The outcome was worse this time.
The guards treated her like thrash and basically threw her outside, yelling at her things like they would kill her if she didn't leave. Their shouts were so loud that Tatyana was again cowered.
Tatyana fled in fear, and halfway in the street, she stumbled, rolling on the dirt road and getting even messier than she already was. Thankfully, the bruises she got were barely visible.
On the hard and uncomfortable soul, Tatyana's red eyes teared up. Nonetheless, she bit her lip and held them in, walking away with slow steps.
Shortly after, she reached the next clinic. There were a total of five in the town, but this one was the smallest by far.
It had two floors and occupied as much land as a single house. Tatyana calmed herself and took a deep breath.
Then, with a new resolution filling her eyes, she entered again.
To her surprise, there was no one inside. On the counter, there was an elderly woman with her eyes closed.
