The grotesque doorman closed the door behind them once they were all inside. The interior was filled with red gauze draping from the ceiling, allowing light from the main room to shine through. Tuktuk had Krutak’s massive figure lead the way. Helios caught one of the drapes coming toward his face as it snapped back into place after Krutak’s passing.

Pushing it aside, they entered the main room of the building. It was a large open space with an extremely high arching ceiling. Helios looked around Krutak blocking the view. He saw strange apparatus decorating the walls.

Elegantly designed restraints of many different types were put on display. Along with an assortment of cages stacked neatly in a range of different sizes. All of them were fashioned with high attention to detail. The chains and ropes were made from a multitude of decorative materials.

“Ahhh, get them off me!” a panicked voice said.

Unable to see the disturbance, Helios curiously walked around Krutak to investigate. The first thing he noticed severed arm placed atop a workbench. Jars filled with demonic claws, teeth, and other, less savoury specimens were arrayed on a shelf behind it.

That looks like Shazz’s arm. Was that what the Imps were doing here, delivering it?

A sound caused him to return his attention to the present. A large Luminare was strapped to a heavy table fashioned of dark lacquered wood in the middle of the room. It appeared highly uncomfortable because its shape was very similar to a centaur. Four draconian feet were restrained to the table. Along with a pair of hands that were currently tugging at its bonds in distress at Demonic Larvae tearing into its flesh.

Standing beside the table was an enormous Vulgaris demon emptying a barrel, spilling another Demonic Larva onto the captive’s chest. The larvae immediately joined its peers in devouring the Luminare alive. She neatly placed the barrel into an empty stack of them.

Nightmare Dimmane had four spindly arms that reached the floor. She had feathered sepia-coloured vibrant wings folded against voluptuous curves. She had lustrous raven-black hair pinned up with fine golden chains woven into it. Her alluring figure was covered by an open-back high-split dress made of delicate lace. A tail peeked out from under the fabric, briefly revealing pale flesh. Dimmane placed her arms on the four corners of the table and leaned to stare into the restrained demon’s eyes.

"Shhh, Thith'toraath. One should not be so hasty to complain. It was not long ago I had you pulled from atop a Primus in a hidden back alley. It’s not the first of your victims. How long did you think you could avoid capture in the city, outright disregarding Fastidium’s law? My eyes are everywhere and they always inform me of demons like you first," Nightmare Dimmane said, standing upright and stepping away.

“Indulging in your little hobby there, Dimmane, while also dealing a little vigilante justice at the same time?” Tuktuk said.

"Ah, Nightmare Tuktuk. I was wondering when you were going to bring your new apprentice by to meet me. I'm almost done here, just let me clean up,” Nightmare Dimmane replied, picking up a blood-red silken cloth from her workbench and wiping her hands with it.“The Tsun’tak Familia requested I breed them some Dolore demons. This one here rescued me from quite the bind. I was becoming concerned that I wouldn't be able to find an appropriate food source for the Larvae."

“Tuktuk doesn’t know why you waste your time on side projects. He’s sure that you could earn a name for yourself as a great Nightmare with your talents,” Tuktuk said, gesturing around the room at the apparatus on the walls.

Dimmane turned to greet her guests. Her gorgeous features were accentuated by a delicate masquerade mask. It looked like intricately engraved bone with golden filigree and inset red gemstones. Beautiful black eyes covered with a rust-coloured glaze examined the room before returning to them.

“Fame is of little value to those of us from Libidine, Tuktuk. We are more concerned with… function,” Dimmane replied, wetting her luscious lips with a forked tongue before playfully biting her lower lip.

Helios’ eyes narrowed when she suddenly rushed across the room toward him, coming to a stop just as abruptly. She lowered her eyes to his level and sniffed his neck inquisitively. Giving him a view of layers of golden gemstone jewellery rattling against her chest. He broke his eyes away from her enticing cleavage and met her gaze. Her lips slightly parted with a soft sigh before straightening.

“What do you think of Tuktuk’s apprentice, Helios?” Tuktuk asked in amusement.

“Fearless, recklessly so. A perfect match for a foolish Imp with no sense of self-preservation. Throwing your hammer at Lord Arthrim, really? What did you expect would happen? The chasm between you has only widened in the millennia you’ve been lax in atoning for your broken oath,” Dimmane reprimanded.

“Arthrim has no natural talent for being a Nightmare artificer. His reputation was earned through back-alley deals and borrowed clout,” Tuktuk spat with contempt.

“Much like you’re doing now?” Tsiyaha chided with a snort of amusement.

“Shut it, you!” Tuktuk snapped.

“I like this one. She would be well suited to becoming a citizen of Libidine. I merely reside in Fastidium. The demons of Libidine specialise in exciting the emotions of foolish men. You would do well,” Dimmane said, gently brushing aside Tsiyaha’s snake hair. They hissed in retaliation.

“Why don’t you devour him yourself?” Krutak suddenly asked, pointing at the Luminare on the table. His stomach grumbled in hunger.

“Because Nightmare Dimmane is a failed Archdemon, a Deviant. She never passed the bottleneck into awakening her Soul Brand,” Tuktuk snapped.

“That, my dear, is a touchy subject. Has no one ever told you not to spread gossip about a lady? I much prefer the term Senex,”

“Tuktuk doesn’t care what you prefer. He’s old. A Senex doesn’t exist, you’re a Vulgaris. Deviants always want us to pander to you with your made-up castes,” Tuktuk ruthlessly replied. Seeing the argument about to become heated, Helios stepped forward to interject.
