Neither of them was prepared to see an elderly gentleman dreaming of being a hero and rescuing the damsel in distress. Tuktuk sighed and held Helios back, concealing their Echo forms in the shadow of an alley lined with neon LEDs.

“It’s best for us to observe for now to work out which one is the dreamer. Although, Tuktuk can probably guess who it is,” Tuktuk dryly said.

“Save me, Techno-samurai!” the pink-haired damsel woodenly cried out. Her tightly knotted bun fell loose as robots grab hold of both of her arms. Her breasts dramatically bounced with unnatural force in her skin-tight cybersuit.

“I’m coming, Kamiko. Unhand her, you mechanical fiends!” the dreamer angrily exclaimed, comically pointing his laser sword at a motionless robot in front of him.

The robot stupidly stepped forward with outstretched clamps. Allowing the elderly man to chop down, severing the robotic arms at the elbow. Exposed electrical cables showered sparks as the metal melted from contact with the laser sword.

The man jumped forward and used the robot as a springboard, leaping toward another two robots holding the girl captive. He slashed across their metallic necks with a flamboyant flourish. They immediately exploded into a mass of cogs and springs. Helios turned away from the scene.

“This is just painful to watch,” Helios muttered while rubbing his temple.

“Indeed it is. But you must take a role in the dream to succeed in shaping your offering. We’re called Nightmares for a reason, you shall become the villain. Now, go!” Tuktuk instructed, giving Helios a nudge toward the elderly man.

The moment Helios stepped out of the shadows, he returned to his demonic aspect with digitigrade legs and four arms. Mysteriously, the demon skin draped over his shoulders changed with him. It shredded into thin threads of fabric that organically encased his body in light before dimming down to its final appearance.

His dreadlock tentacle hair cascaded over a strangely fashioned protective over-vest that reached his reversed legs. It had a high collar and was made with countless overlapping hexagon plates that allowed it to move freely like fabric. A white sleeveless silk cross vest was visible underneath the black mantle that allowed for all four arms.

In tangent with the black harem-style pants he wore, Helios’ lithe form was completely covered. He paused and held out his arms to inspect himself. The elderly man instantly adapted to his arrival in his dream.

“Ha! So, you finally make an appearance, Demon-face. I wondered how many of your robot army it would take for me to destroy before you would come out of hiding. I’m here to rescue Kamiko from your foul clutches. Release her at once before you no longer have any minions left,” the dreamer shouted, slicing his laser sword across the neck of a robot kneeling in front of him. The robot dramatically twitched like it was being electrocuted as he tossed it to the side.

What is this fucking bullshit? I guess I’ll just have to do what Tuktuk said and play along for now.

“Your skills are not enough to defeat me, Techno-samurai. Ptui! Kamiko will be coming with me. Cough, she’s my daughter,” Helios coughed out while spitting to the side in distaste.

“W-what? That’s impossible, Kamiko told me that you killed her father!” the dreamer exclaimed.

He stepped back and dramatically clutched at his chest while dropping his laser sword. A stream of golden light emerged from beneath his hand and flowed into Helios’ clothing. Helios smirked in satisfaction.

Hehe, maybe this isn’t so bad. I could have some fun with this, what do I know about sci-fi anime?

“You should never have let go of your sword, Techno-samurai. A warrior’s soul is in their blade!” Helios shouted while lunging forward. He threw a savage punch at Techno-samurai’s head. “Power punch!”

Techno-samurai blocked the fist with his cybernetic arm. The impact severely dented the metal. Helios’ second fist, hidden behind the first, circumvented Techno-samurai’s block and landed squarely on his jaw. Techno-samurai was sent flying away as another stream of golden light detached. Helios inhaled deeply and flexed his four arms above his head with an amused expression.

“I underestimated you, Demon-face. I won’t do it again!” Techno-samurai shouted as he scrambled to his feet.

He kicked the laser sword from the ground into his hand and then leapt into the air. Thruster vents opened in his arms to propel him higher. A flash of lightning illuminated his silhouette as he raised the laser sword overhead.

“Ahhhhhhh!” Techno-samurai shouted at the top of his lungs as he swung down with all of his might. Helios frowned and narrowed his eyes, watching the radiant neon blade fall in slow motion.

Break!

The moment the laser sword collided with Helios, a shockwave blasted out in every direction, followed by an explosion of pink light. Once the light cleared, the scene had changed. Techno-samurai held the sword with a dishevelled appearance and ragged clothes, a head shorter than Helios’ demonic figure.

The laser sword rested on Helios’ shoulder, sizzling ineffectively against the countless interlocked hexagon plates. The landscape had become replaced with the scenery of Hell that Helios was more familiar with.

Techno-samurai retracted his sword and dropped in limply at his side, looking around the empty environment with a dumbfounded expression. Helios remained indifferent as he watched the elderly man process the change with a cascade of different emotions.

“This is a dream, why does this place feel so real?” the dreamer hesitantly asked, golden light pouring from his skin into Helios’ clothes at an exponential rate. His figure drained of colour with every passing moment.

“What you’re seeing now is a glimpse of the real Hell. I can see that your Mortal mind is struggling to comprehend it. You will never awaken again, you’re coming with me,” Helios coldly replied, holding out an inviting hand toward the dreamer.

“I don’t want to go. I’m afraid,” the elderly man said with a pitiful expression. His face scrunched up with his lower lip pouting forward and tears of terror streaming down his face. Helios merely responded with a serene smile.
