Chapter 17 “Troubling World View Part 1”

This Translation is hosted on https://bcatranslation.com/

“Just now that kid wanted to seal you did he not?” Dawn says while watching the monster hunters leaving.

Wouldn’t that fool look at the atmosphere first?

Shadow nods and replies, “Yes, it is stubborn people like that which makes up the majority of the hunters. It fits my impression of their profession. Also, the rational types are rare among their group so don’t expect anything different.”

Dawn quietly murmurs, “But why? I am nominally your tamer, meaning you’re ‘tamed.'”

“Even if we are ‘tamed’, we’re still monsters.” Shadow shot an irritated glare at the guy due to that word, “The friction between both sides isn’t just a day or two already. Eliminating it won’t be so easy. Well, at least they are willing to answer my questions. That’s already an improvement compared to the past.”

Dawn became silently embarrassed at his own idiocy. Not wanting to linger around, he promptly gathered the two and left, thus restoring the peace of the night in this area. Now, all that remains of the battle was the abandoned building and collapsed roof it had.

…..

“We can finally take a good rest.”

Back at home, Dawn yawned and threw himself onto the sofa where Shadow had already made a nest for herself near the corner. She’s the most tired of the three after exhausting the most power tonight.

“Landlord, I’m heading to bed first. If there’s anything, just let me know tomorrow.” Boink didn’t have it easy either after assisting with his phantom illusions. In fact, he had to rely on the human to carry him home; otherwise, the hamster might’ve just slept outside tonight.

After taking out a few thin blankets to cover Shadow – who’s soundly asleep by now – Dawn heaved a long sigh before checking up on his harvest. The order points given by the mysterious pendant had already arrived, but he won’t spend it just yet. It’s not much, and knowing the scamming win rate of the spin wheel, he would rather spend it all later in one go. As the old saying goes, a single draw is boring, a group draw is where the surprises come up. And then that leaves the Arbiter’s invitation letter that popped up in his inventory.

After spending several days with the two, Dawn’s sure they’re not bad guys inside. Now, if he decides to use it without their consent or knowledge, that would be him breaking the trust they built. Besides, he’s not even sure if it’s safe to use on others. What if there are side effects? It’s not the first time a demon offered the candy before the poison. In Dawn’s view, the fruit of life was the candy, and whether or not the letter was the “poison” was up for debate.

With another yawn, Dawn got up to wash his face before heading to bed. They would decide this tomorrow, as a group, not by himself like a good human being.

The following day, the sleepyhead that was Dawn had found himself struggling to get up despite the sun rising high. He’s always been a morning person so it’s rare for him to be sleeping past ten like today. However, the burning hunger in his belly forced him to get up and seek sustenance. Thankfully the catling deserved the title of being called a household expert.

“Oh good morning Landlord! You don’t seem to be suffering from any nightmare today so that’s good.” The hamsterling says after lifting his stuffed mouth up from the bowl. He’s been eating his breakfast up on the table.

Hearing this, Dawn’s expression immediately crumbled from the brief calm he had enjoyed since last night. Apparently he had forgotten the weird crossover he had with the dreamworld.

It’s probably in the past now Dawn. Stop thinking about it and move on…..

“Where’s Shadow?” The guy asks the hamsterling after not finding the cat.

“Just left, she’s watching TV in the living room right now.” Boink points with his little paw in the general direction and then makes a wow gesture, “The big projector and speaker in the living is a blast. I bet it will be incredible to play games on it….”
