Chapter 94: Fu Hua Memories (4)

After their moment of banter with each other, they headed back home together to the hut where Fu Hua first appeared.

"[Nuwa is a ravishing girl filled with grace and elegance, and takes away the breath of everyone…]" Nuwa wrote on a piece of paper the legend about herself.

Fu Hua watched and sighed in exasperation, "Oh dear. Are you writing an essay about your own looks?"

"Looks are important! People like beautiful stuff! The main character has to be a pretty girl for the story to be popular."

"Erm, I think that the plot is way more important."

Hearing that, Nuwa shook her head and retorted, "You just don't understand, Jingwei! Animals, weapons, ships, tanks, and guns… we have to transform them into pretty girls… It's a RULE! Plain and simple."

Nuwa added, "Besides, Fuxi and I look almost alike. I'll need to add some special features to prevent overlapping roles."

Hearing a new word come out of Nuwa's mouth, Fu Hua found the name familiar, "Fuxi…?"

"What's wrong, Jingwei? Your complexion looks pale…"

Fu Hua tried recalling the familiar name as a memory flashed inside of her mind, "…[Pioneer] …Fuxi…?"

Otto noticed a reaction and he spoke excitedly, ["Yes! Your memories have initiated a new reaction! We'll jump right away to the new memory fragment."]

"…Wait! I want to ask Nuwa a couple more things!"

["I know that meeting old friends are great, but we really need to find those spheres. The next memory is available. Let's go."]

Right after Otto finished saying that, Fu Hua's body glitched into existence and disappeared briefly before reappearing in a strange blue space.

Fu Hua didn't feel any mishaps with her body after she was again teleported by Otto into this independent space. She could only grip her hands tightly before she returned to normal with a sigh. She then proceeded forward, defeating many enemies in the process.

["If I'm not mistaken, Nuwa mentioned Fuxi… who happens to be the Goddess of Erudition. I never expected you to have a circle of very classy friends."]

Fu Hua could feel her head ache as more information related to Fuxi slowly start to appear in her mind, "Yes, I remember now! Fuxi is Nuwa's elder sister. They look similar, but behave differently. Fuxi doesn't talk or smile a lot, but she's blessed with immense wisdom."

Fu Hua continued, "She was tasked with becoming the [Pioneer]. She is responsible for imparting knowledge to the next civilization. She is also the one in charge of managing the spheres."

[Good. I think we're getting closer and closer to the target.] 

After defeating all the enemies that came her way. Fu Hua enjoyed a few seconds of silence before a blinding light filled her vision, causing her eyes to close.

A few moments later, Fu Hua finally opened her eyes slowly as she blinked a few times. She is now at the coast, and she heard the chirping of birds perched on some coconut tree for shelter and the sound of the waves softly hitting the shore and wetting her feet. She could also feel the heat from the sunlight in the sky before looking to the sides where the beautiful clear sea rested as if it had never been touched by humans.

["We made it safely to the next memory. Hmm. This should be a short while after the Nuwa encounter. The location is pretty far off."]

"I remember this place, it's the coast of the South Seas. I've been here before with Fuxi. We came here to seal one of those spheres."

["Keep the memory running. We'll soon locate the sphere."]

"Let's go find Fuxi first."

Fu Hua walked forward, gazing at this beautiful scene for a few minutes before finding Fuxi crouching on the shore collecting something.

As said earlier, Fuxi has a similar appearance to Nuwa, except that she wears a white cheongsam with gold stripes, she has light blue eyes, and has a white snake wrapped around her hands just like Nuwa, and of course her facial expression is flat like Bronya.

"49,50,51..." Fuxi turned out to be collecting shells while putting them in a shell bag that looked to be full.

Seeing this, Fu Hua then approached her and asked, "Fuxi, what are you doing here?"

Fuxi raised her head and looked at Fu Hua before saying in a gentle tone, "Jingwei! Good to see you here. Your arrival is very timely. Help me carry these shells. They are too heavy for me." 

"Allow me…" Fu Hua took the pouch from Fuxi's hands before she lose her balance because of the weight, "Gah! It's really heavy. What are you going to do with these shells?"

"The people of this Era will be using them as money. Once it starts circulating, it's value will appreciate quickly." Fuxi answered.

"I see. I guess you're accelerating economic development of this era, right?"

"No. I'm hoarding them for an obvious purpose."

Hearing Fuxi's unexpected answer, Fu Hua asked doubtedly, "Eh? Aren't you the Pioneer of Humanity?

With a straight face Fuxi answered Fu Hua's question, "I'm joking, of course I'm circulating all these shells. But I will accumulate some wealth myself without affecting the market."

"..."

Fu Hua fell silent hearing this before saying with a straight face "…I remember now. She's really into money and finances."

"Having money feels great, you know." 

After that Fuxi said, "I've collected enough sea shells here. Let's go somewhere else."

Fu Hua weighed the bag containing the shells in her hands before saying.

"The weight of this bag… There's more than 51 seas shells here, right? "

"51 sea shells? No. We have 51 empty bags. All of them must be filled with sea shells before we head back."

Unlike her previous memory, which was filled with monsters, this place was quiet without any monsters at all, so Fu Hua could focus on enjoying the company of her old friend Fuxi.

Walking side by side on the seashore, Fu Hua then asked "Fuxi, was the reason we came to the south seas to pick up seashells?"

 

"Well, not really. But collecting shells is important." Fuxi emphasized the word shell.

"You're getting more serious than I like…!"

"Our other objective is geological prospecting.  The soil can teel up about the past and the future of this land."

"Future?"

Fuxi didn't answer Fu Hua's question first, She raised her head to look at the weather for a moment before lowering her head and turning her head to the side where the clear blue ocean was visible and said, "Right… Just as I predicted. This is a good place. There is sufficient water and cool weather. More importantly, here meets the ocean, foreign tourists will definitely come… They will bring their culture and knowledge to this place."

 

"Do we need to move people to this place first?"

Fuxi shook her head, "No. We must follow the path of history. We just have to direct them a bit, but we can't easily change the result. This place is not suitable for primitive tribes. But when civilization begins to grow, people will build a new life in this place."

Fuxi cast her gaze forward followed by Fu Hua who also stared ahead before saying, "I can imagine people building houses and cities here. The civilization of this era will develop rapidly and become something extraordinary in the future. So, I wanted to come up with something before people started settling down."

"...I see, I will fight to protect this place."

"Before anyone occupies this land, we must..." Fuxi took out the bag containing the shells with sparkling eyes in the shape of money and smiled, "Buy it... Everyone..."

"What?" Fu Hua with a blank face.

Fuxi then explained, "This place will rapidly grow in population, this settlement will become a city and a center for traffic, as well as commerce. It may look unprofitable for now... But in the future it will have a higher value. It's definitely worth more than shellfish."

"So what should we do? We are tasked with protecting this world, not to relax and enjoy life."

Hearing that Fuxi then looked at Fu Hua and said deeply, "Jingwei, there will be a day when Nuwa and I grow old, but you are special. Your special body can keep you young, you may have to protect this world by yourself along with the other Flame-chasers who are still alive for a very, very long time."

"I know and I'm not afraid!"

Fuxi shook her head and said in a serious tone, "No, that's not what I meant. Do you know how much money you need for food, clothes, in a hundred years of life? Then there are inflation, devaluations, and other financial disasters. You have to get ready first."

"…I see, thanks for your idea."

"It's good that you understand. Protect this place well. Yosh, now I have to take care of the last thing."
