"You're not lying to me? Don't you international students like to party it up? Going to bars and things?"

Fu Zheng laughed. "You're stereotyping international students. We do go to some parties for fun or to fit in, or maybe we might be curious and go to a bar, but it isn't as easy as you think. Asians are a minority in school and it isn't easy to find someone who's right for you when there's not that many of us to begin with. Many international students study abroad for many years and remain single the whole time, and they envy those domestic male college students."

Saying so, he lowered his head and gently kissed the tip of Ning Wan's ear. "When my friends and I vented to each other about being envious of domestic male college students, I never actually felt anything, but now I really am envious, even jealous."

Embarrassed to be kissed, Ning Wan felt her ears redden. Even her face changed colour.

Fu Zheng hadn't had enough. He lowered his voice, "I especially envy the boys from your school."

"Not only at your college, but your high school, too."

"Like Chen Shuo, for example."

"Domestic male college students are so lucky. So many beautiful girls of the same age, no language barrier that forces them to work harder. Isn't being at university at home much easier than if you were an international student? You could even have a college romance."

When Fu Zheng said this, he really did sound a little envious. "Not only that, but there are all the various Chinese cuisines, unlike us poor international students who have PTSD from all those strange-tasting so-called Chinese foods abroad, to the point of having to get used to western food instead."

That day, the two who had exchanged secrets held hands the whole time. Like all ordinary couples in amusement parks, they created many mutual firsts in each other's lives: the first time going into an "Adventure Cave", where they secretly kissed behind the backs of the rest of the team; together on the couples rafting ride, where the people on the opposite raft got their hair wet; lining up side by side for the super-super-popular crispy chicken drumsticks; and sharing a matcha ice cream together, with a kiss after every few bites...

After all these years, it was Ning Wan's first time completely forgetting her dignity, forgetting all the pressures, the endless maybes and regrets of reality, and immersing herself only in the sweet.

Here, she didn't need to be a nervous lawyer who was always on call. She didn't need to worry about community work, about how to be more competitive in her career, about her future career path. She could simply be Ning Wan.

How wonderful Fu Zheng was. It seemed that with him, she finally had a safe haven to occasionally escape from the pressures of reality. Although he claimed to be a crybaby with a fragile heart, for some unknown reason Ning Wan felt at ease around him. He felt very steady and reliable just by virtue of being there.

But after all, it was merely a small-scale, low-altitude show, and a theme park didn't have too many places suitable for watching fireworks. By the time they arrived, all the good spots were already taken.

But because she was being held up by Fu Zheng, although she could see the fireworks, Fu Zheng's line of sight was completely blocked. All he could see was her back.

So although it was excellent, midway through the show Ning Wan broke free and said, "Fu Zheng, you should watch too."

But Fu Zheng seemed unconcerned. "I'm older than you are, and I've seen plenty of fireworks. I don't mind missing one show. So long as you can watch them, it's enough for me to watch you."

They were both ephemeral and beautiful, and so there was absolutely nothing wrong with replacing a falling star with fireworks.

Her face flushing slightly with excitement and nervousness, the light of the fireworks reflected in her eyes, she quietly made her wish--
