Grimm gazed into the mirror with a look of annoyance as he put on an eye-patch on his right eye. The reflection revealed a pale, delicate face that was quite handsome, with black hair and a single golden eye which gleamed with intelligence. Despite the fact that his right eye was covered, he could see with perfect clarity, and without the eye-patch, he would receive a headache because of the immense details processed by his right eye.
[Eye of Wisdom], the Talent that belonged to the mob character he had transmigrated into. He, an ordinary man from Earth, had become Grimm Wotan, the last remaining scion of a noble family who had gotten accepted into Skye Academy, one of the most prestigious academies in the world of Gimel.
That was when he had realized that the world he was currently in was one of his favorite novels, ''Vengeance of the Regressor'', a popular fantasy novel from Earth.
''Vengeance of the Regressor'' was the story of Virgil Brushwood, a swordsman who died fighting the dragon Malice Striker and the Demonic Army. With the power of the [Mani Moon], a Divine Artifact, he had gone back in time to his days at the academy, and prepares to fight the oncoming threat.
The novel wasn't that special when it came to plot, following the general troupes of a regression novel, but it stuck to the formula without error and delivered with excellent world building and character exploration. That was what had separated it from the rest of the chaff, and made it one of Grimm's favorite novels.
Of course, just because he liked the novel doesn't mean he wanted to be transmigrated into it. The world of ''Vengeance of the Regressor'' was highly dangerous and one that he wanted to be far away from.
The world of Gimel was formed after a war between the gods and the giants called the [Twilight of the Gods], which caused the destruction of the previous nine worlds, the extinction of the giants and most of the gods. The new world, Gimel, which was formed from the fallen World Tree, was then occupied by the survivors. Humanity restarted, and the remaining gods sacrificed their divinity and became ordinary mortals to make the new world habitable.
However, they were soon threatened by the Demons, creatures that spawned from the Chaos Sea located in the Primordial Void, which drowned the World Tree. Created from the corpses of the fallen, they sought to return the world to nothingness once again.
The humans were helpless before the demons, as the Runic Magic System had fallen without any divinity to power it, until the Progenitor Wizard formed the Numeral Magic System with Mana and drove them back into the darkness. The demons still remained however, and were merely biding their time before they once again try to destroy the world.
This was the setting of the novel, and at the center of that was Skye Academy. Unfortunately, this was the same school that Grimm was going to attend, and he couldn't leave unless he wanted to make himself an embarrassment to the aristocracy. As a noble, reputation was important, and he needed to keep his image if he wanted a peaceful life in his lands.

Grimm actually did not mind entering the academy, as he could avoid the plot as long as he kept his head down. However, that was only under normal circumstances.
Grimm was somehow chosen as a member of the S class.
The S class that had the main character and all the other very important characters in the series. The S class that is the center of the all the danger. He was joining that same class.
Grimm could not figure out how that happened, as he didn't exist previously in the novel. Looking back at his memories, it seems that he had awoken his Talent, [Eye of Wisdom] and had gotten a special recommendation, an event that was definitely not in the book. It was also around the time of his transmigration, so it seems that his appearance had already changed the story.
Talents were abilities formed from the remnant divine blood of the gods, so it mostly occurs within the nobility, who were said to be descended from gods. Talents were rare, and even weak ones were potentially useful. They were separated into categories based on their use, so a Talent like [Natural Heart] would be support, while a Talent like [Battle Sense] would be fighting Talent.
Grimm's [Eye of Wisdom] was different, as it checked all the categories. Not only did it increase his dynamic vision and visual acuity, it allowed him to see Mana and analyze spells and objects. It was an extremely overpowered ability that had made him get instantly sent to S class.
A person with such a talent should have made an impact in the war, so it was weird that he was never mentioned. It was as if Grimm was just suddenly inserted into the world of the novel as a last second addition.
Why was such a character never shown? Why did he get into S class this time? How was that related to his transmigration? Would his presence start to effect the plot?
Grimm groaned as he looked into the mirror once again and said
''Whoever sent me here, you better watch your back, because I'm going to find you, and you will rue the day that you messed with me, Grimm Wotan!"
