“Priya. How many more tribes are there in this area?”
“Huh? A-Ah!” Priya quickly shook herself from her stupor and jogged to catch up to me. “Just three more, Ryuuko! But seriously, what’s gotten into you!?”
Just a few moments ago, Priya had been standing in shock as I annihilated yet another leader of one of the many tribes that dotted the landscape of Celatria’s eastern half.
I didn’t blame her. The rate at which I defeated my opponents was pretty much unheard of, and a mass conquest like this had never actually happened before. After all, the only instances of the eastern tribes ever unifying was when the Demon Lord appeared.
There was a sort of unspoken agreement between the larger tribes to never go at each other’s throats, yet here I was violating that pact. Even so, it didn’t matter to me. I had already delayed my plans for long enough.
“Let’s go to the next tribe, Priya. Which direction are we headed?”
“U-Um, northward and a l-little to the east. Are you really doing this though!? Look at the people around you, Ryuuko!”
I looked around at the crowd that was staring at me while Priya courageously chastised me. No longer did their stares sear my skin. In fact, I relished them. Every second that they spent looking at me would only serve to ingrain my overwhelming strength into their minds.
Some of their gazes were filled with curiosity while others were filled with hatred. I could understand that. After all, I was a mere human intruding into their territory. By all means, I shouldn’t be here.
To make matters worse, news of my conquests had already spread throughout the eastern tribes and many welcomed me with their weapons already drawn. Again, I relished it.
It would only serve to make my conquest smoother.
“It’s just somethin’ I gotta do, Priya...” I replied. I had already given her the gist of everything earlier, but I suppose it was still sinking in. I mean, if someone told me that my world was going to be destroyed in two years because of some irresponsible God, I’d be hard pressed to believe that shit right off the bat too.
“I know, but... Isn’t there a better way to do this? I mean, you’re a member of the Zaltsel clan and part of the royal family, so I’m sure they’d listen...”
Her voice was hopeful, but only because she didn’t quite understand how all of this worked. I liked that about her. It was a certain quality that I needed around me right now so I could ground myself in reality.
I won’t lie. My rapid victory streak certainly did give me an ego boost, and I doubt anyone could resist thinking for just a second that they were destined to rule the world after doing what I just did.
That’s why I took Priya with me when I departed on this arduous task. Her voice—filled with boundless hope—was my sole anchor to reality.
When I first crossed the Fissure with Radeca and Liandra, I had already come up with a preliminary plan. Since Radeca had been abandoned by her people and Liandra had pretty much been kept off-records after being captured, they would be the perfect candidates for acting as my operatives in the western half of the continent, starting with the Ardene Kingdom.
After returning to the Zaltsel clan, I explained the entirety of my plan to everyone who I’d gathered, including Priya despite her being in a separate clan. A gentle smile appeared on my face as I recalled how that had turned out.
“You’re doing WHAT!? You just got back and you’re already rushing off again!?” Lucrezia exclaimed mere seconds after I finished explaining my whole plan to everyone.

Before I could speak, Aurelia’s voice cut across the room. “That’s rather reckless, don’t you think? Hm... Thinking about it a little more, it does sound fun. How about you let me join in as well?”
“Aurelia!”
I laughed at their sisterly exchange. Honestly, I had already expected Lucrezia to object vehemently to my decision, but what really surprised me was Antenora’s response.
“So that’s the path you’ve chosen, Ryuuko. In that case, I will do all I can to assist you for the coming fight.”
Even now, those words still remain in my head. Of all the people in that room, Antenora was the last person I expected to stand with me. Perhaps I should have seen it coming thanks to her past life as the previous hero, but I simply couldn’t see her as anyone else other than the snarky and hostile shurai that I knew her as.
During the entirety of the meeting, King Borea had remained silent, not even uttering a single word even as I prepared to depart. Instead, he approached me at the doorway and held out his hand.
His gaze was fiercer than when he fought me, but mine was fiercer still. He clasped my forearm and nodded once. That alone was more than enough for me to understand his message.
We were both warriors, and there was only one responsibility that a warrior had when they marched out to battle:
Win.
“We’re here, Ryuuko.”
Priya’s slightly nervous voice pulled me back into the present. As I focused on the sight ahead, even I was forced to stop and stare in awe for a moment. Based purely on their defenses, this was more than just a tribe. This was a clan.
Standing before me was a massive wall erected from the yellowish-gray stone that populated the mountains of Celatria’s eastern half.
It was easily the tallest wall I’d ever seen in my life. Not even the massive wall that surrounded the Zaltsel clan’s territory could compare, but even so, I knew I could clear it with a single leap if I chose to do so.
In fact, that was exactly what I should do. Chances are, this tribe was probably banking on their thick walls and heavy gate to stop me or at least hold me back until they could bring the full brunt of their forces on top of me before I even had the chance to challenge their leader.
I smirked.
I guess that’s too fuckin’ bad, ain’t it?
“Wait here, Priya. I’ll be back in a moment.”
With that, I leapt from the ground and soared.
