Succubus Homeland, on the way to the Exchange

What would happen if a beaver were to gain advanced intelligence rivaling humans? They were known as nature's architects because of the structures they use to divert rivers. When it came to controlling water, they were better than any other creature on the planet. They create entire environments for other species to live in. They did this with almost no intelligence, entirely from instinct.

As they approach the exchange as a group, they could see this majestic creature. The walking beaver had a brown pelt that was patchy from his constant scratching. His black eyes were bloodshot as if he rarely slept. He wore thick denim overalls with a bare chest exposed. The two front teeth of his had been grown flat from chewing on pieces of metal.

He didn't need those teeth anyway, as long as he had that paddle.

Bob had an incredible ability when it came to structures, he didn't use any rebar when he was reinforcing concrete. He would only use all of the scrap metal from the weapon production and from cutting the plates. Taking these jagged, messy pieces of steel, he could arrange it in such a way that it was structurally more sound than more modern construction. He would only need to apply a few thousand welds and it was done...

He was only building a small home for the pug dogman!

The pug dogman was in charge of directing the labor, his name was Doug. If a normal dogman was around 6'5, then Doug was short at 5'5. He was a uniform beige color with a black snout that was short. This means he always makes raspy breathing noises. Comparing him to a normal dogman, was like comparing Rex to a Dwarf. Doug was very stout, and he had massive muscles covering his frame. He also wore denim overalls with a white shirt. He was leading the dogmen to stir concrete for Bob.

If Bob was the brains, then Doug was the muscle. They made a great duo together, and the 6 years of building the refinery had allowed Rex to instill a lot of knowledge into Bob. Rather than teaching him, it felt more like he was giving the crazy beaver the tools he needs instead.

Doug's house was round and domed, with various triangular windows that could be opened. It even had basement storage, with a refrigerator. The very center of the roof was also triangular glass, making a skylight directly over the bed, on the second floor. This is where he planned to take his future bride when they manage to steal her from somewhere. This home was his pride and joy and resembled a large version of a domed dog house, that was the only thing Rex could compare it to.

I guess some things will never change, no matter the world...

This was for Bob to get more practice, this was the first house he has ever built. The new city was planned to be built around the exchange. To achieve his dream of a modern city, he would need to build all of the tools and machinery. There were so many parts he felt were missing from the equation.

Those damn elves just won't let me have any time!

The refinery took twice as long as he thought to build, but that was fine. It had been well worth it for what he had gained. Rex had concluded after teaching Kira enchanting, there were always going to be races better than him at something. The best foundation for any country is one built by the worker's hands. The sweat, blood, and tears will become a part of the concrete, making the workers a part of the city itself.

Their offspring will inherit those stories and take on a part of that pride. Then Rex will take all of these children into his school, and he will slowly mold their thinking. Ensuring that the stupidity of their parents can never be allowed to pass on.

Approaching the beaver and pugman he waved to get their attention.

“Hey, Bob, Doug!” Rex called out.

The beaver looked over at Rex from the Doorway he was framing for a large steel door. His eyes took on a gleam as if he had seen his god!

“Great Builder! You have come before this little one!” Bob yelled out as he bows before Rex in prostration.

Rex paused with the smile still on his face, His eyes slightly twitching. This was the result of Bob realizing just what he had built with the oil refinery. Imagine the beaver's shock when he came to realize just what all of those strange metal structures and pipes were capable of doing. While it looked shoddy, it worked perfectly well. That was the only thing that matters in the end.

“Bob, please rise. You don't need to do this.” Rex said with his signature confidence.

“No, Great Builder! I must! I am not worthy to stand before your brilliance!” Bob said, as his face never left the ground.

I think I might like the beavermen.

“Well Bob, I accidentally destroyed my lab. Can I get you to build another one if it can't be repaired?” Rex asked the beaverman.

Bob began to breathe excitedly, as his eyes took on a fanatical shine.

“Can I build it properly this time? The last one was too small. It should be at least several times the size! With pillars and shiny floors! Lights everywhere, as if to drive out the darkness of the-” Bob began going into one of his episodes, so Rex decided to stop him.

“No Bob, I just want it repaired, or the same thing built,” Rex said to the beaver in exasperation.

The joy on the beaver's face was quickly replaced by a look of dread.

“Why must you constrain yourself to such a measly shack?! You should be enshrined in a mighty structure capable of diverting an ocean! Just order this Bob and he will immediately begin constructing it!” The beaver's depression was quickly converted into his kiss-ass fanaticism.

“No... Bob, the old design was just fine. I don't want a giant lab anyway.” Rex says in exasperation.

Are all of the beavermen going to be like this?

Bob took on a look of dejection again, this one was staying though.

“I understand, Great Builder,” Bob said quietly.

“Thank you, Bob, you can get back to work.” Rex said as he had to stop himself from sighing.

“Yes, Great Builder.” The beavermen reverently stood and turned to leave.

Rex turned to see Doug and Borscht also having a conversation on the side.

“Boss, I heard we are going to begin getting the ladies soon? Is this true?!” The dogman asked with tears in his eyes.

The bear nods his big white head with a solemn look.

“Yes, we get new boat, and take ladies from elves, and other tribes.” Borscht told the dogman.

Doug began tearing up in his beady eyes as he responded in earnest to the white bear.

“I did it! I didn't become like them! HAHAHA! WOOOF!” The dogman began to dance in glee.

This utterance was enough to grind his brain to a halt, as many unsavory images pass through his head.

Rex's hands went to his face and began rapidly scrubbing at it. He was pretending they were full of bleach to rub the images out of his brain. Why had Rex's workforce grown? It was due to all the weird sexualities the islanders have developed.

I would be so happy if it was only a tale of 2 islands here... it is so, so much more than that...

The only women on the island were kept on top of the volcano, this was for their safety, originally...

Most of those hot-blooded, young, free slaves were going to stick it in something, and that wasn't the succubi. This led to a fracturing effect on the island and its various factions. The dwarves thoroughly sealed their tunnels, to protect them from nonsense. Rex has already promised them he would free women for them. They had the stoic dwarves to keep the sub-races in check, it wasn't perfect though, and some things happen that Rex didn't want to know about. Rex was willing to gloss over all of it though, in comparison to what else was on the island.

Now let's get into the things a traditionalist like Rex, took some mental gymnastics to comprehend. The first group was the prisoners who had been here the longest, they were like the Spartans. They were happy to do whatever it took to protect each other. This meant even acting as outlets for each other's lust. This lead to a very strong bond forming between the elves and beastmen. These old men all felt afraid and did what was necessary to protect themselves.

After 6 long years, this created a “culture,” as they called it. They claimed they had broken the bonds between gender and race! Their strong determination and bond even drew in some of the hot-blooded young slaves! Their leader was a rugged, graying old lion named Simbad. These people didn't directly work for Rex, but they weren't a problem. They were the largest faction on the island at 150 members strong.

The other faction was the freed slaves that took the opposite approach, why not be women...

In Rex's world there existed a fashion that was called “drag” and it was worn by men. This was something he had never foreseen happening here. They were also a collection of slaves and some of the prisoners. They bought female clothes and dresses from the succubi and wore them themselves. They had their form of culture, and Rex did not want to understand it. It was possible to support someone from the sidelines. Kind of like donating to a charity you know nothing about!

Their leader was an elf who was originally a prisoner. He was a snow elf and had long flowing white hair and pale blue eyes. His skin was as white as the succubi's, and he liked to wear a blue dress over his well-muscled frame. This fellow went by the name of “Carlice-Chwan.”

The slaves and prisoners under Rex were the normal ones, they refuse to join either of the other 2 factions. They were deeply outnumbered, as the other two kept a strong alliance. This made up the situation of the island.

I need to go to the meeting and figure out what happened at Fang City.

This was an excuse, so he didn't need to think of the two faction leaders.

“Kira, when will Kera be here?” Rex questions the succubus following him.

“It will have to be tonight when the sisters from fang city arrive. Since the elves and beastmen are fighting on the waters near Acid Island, we have to be a lot more careful.” Kira told him with a hint of sadness.

Who knew if you fail to name something long enough, the nickname will just stick?

This was mostly due to the reduction in cotton coming into the island. For now, the food wasn't a problem with such a small population, but that would quickly change on an island. No island can develop properly without large amounts of trade. Now that the beastmen were losing, he could consider selling them TNT. What could a single Ivangor do against countless explosives? Rex didn't want to make assumptions until he had a clearer picture in his head of what had lead to Fang City's destruction.

Rex concluded long ago that he could not trust what a succubus says at face value. This was because they often did not think something was important, so they just omit it from any report. How could Rex possibly prepare any coherent strategy with faulty information?

From the very beginning, they left out all kinds of useful information, like the fact the elves also have a powerful enchanter. Rex spent a long time taking apart the remains of the elven cruise ship. It was quite a brilliant and elegant solution to make the ropes move around using enchantments. He also saw a simple design for an engine to pull the ropes, but it wasn't very strong. It was only slightly stronger than the simple engine Rex had designed in the past, but Rex's was much faster.

The more examples of enchantments they could collect, the better Kira would become in time. The formulae he spent so much time making, were perfect for reverse-engineering the parts of the enchantments, and figuring out what they did. He would need to sincerely thank the elves for their contributions to his naval fleet. If he could just figure out what to build them from.

Right now steel was a very scarce resource, and there were only so many dwarves and their sub-species. They could only consume so much of his alcohol, and this limits the amount they produce. This was a relationship purely based on trade and convenience. Rex was perfectly fine with an alliance like this, as he still held the advantage. The dwarves' food supply was dependent on him, as were all their commodities like soap and toilet paper.

The dwarves had sent a representative to visit him. It was after he had a new exchange built in the center of the new city. This one was much larger, and he took all kinds of different resources as trade. Seashells, limestone, magic crystals, seaweed, and any other special things that could be found. If it was bizarre, or strange, Rex wants it in his hands.

Being a researcher was something he just never thought he had in him in the past, this was some strange mental block he made for himself. Who knew that mana was the answer all along? It wasn't just his bitch wife who made him unhappy, it was himself. He should have considered research when he was a child.

“Alright, let's go to the exchange and wait for them. I refuse to underestimate the elves again.” Rex says the last part very solemnly.

Welch's fist tightens, as she quickly thought of the smiling blonde elf who tried to abduct her.

Her attendant had tackled Dryfys into her training courtyard to free her. She was pulled away by the attendant's brother, as they listened to Dryfys torture him to death inside the barrier. She was then sold as a slave to escape the search Dryfys tried to conduct to find her. Executing the rebels was just an excuse he had made. Dryfys had even gone so far as to take the corpse of her grandmother into his custody.

These thoughts had driven her to her only possible source of revenge. That was the dirty-blonde-haired boy who leads around the leader of the succubi. He sometimes even rode around on a possible future beast king! The most terrifying thing in his possession was the seemingly useless blue bracelets on his wrists. This immediately made her recall a terrifying memory.

One of the freed slaves had tried to kidnap Rex, and Kira merely stared at the slave in pity. This slave was soon wrapped in a violently roiling glob of blue liquid, and Rex was violently expelled from it. It then proceeded to contract violently, and you could hear the sound of bones crunching, over the sound of the steam being released from the acids. In less than a minute it had turned into a clear blue blob of goo. It then proceeded to crawl over to Rex and slide back onto his wrists. It then turned right back into those very same bracelets.

After this incident, not one of the slaves dares to go after the boy again. This was because they saw what happens when you piss the blue slime off. Who knew what would happen if the boy wasn't around to control it. Would it turn the entire island into a chemical hellscape to vent its fury? This also wasn't taking into account the leader of the succubi who was nearly always at his side.

Right now Kira was starring her down, she somehow knew that Welch was thinking about Rex. She was looking down her nose at Welch with a smug grin on her face. Kira then smiles at the elf, before walking up to Rex and pulling his arm into her chest. This action by the succubus was infuriating to the elf.

Looking down at her modest peaks being pushed up further by the gun holster's straps, she suddenly feels a sense of inferiority that she hates. Feeling a sense of spite, she walks quickly to the boy's other side and grabs his other arm. This made the look on Kira's face switch to rage, but Welch didn't care, the dumb bat shouldn't have challenged her!

“Please stop... I beg you...” A male voice sounds out in exasperation between the duo.

Rex was currently bent slightly forward to hide what was happening in his pants, he was still in puberty after all. Kira could understand, but with Welch, it was due to how elven culture treats its females. They were the ones who were supposed to make the advances. A male doing it was rude or very desperate. Welch planned to steal the engineer from the leader of the succubi.

Rex was in quite an odd situation himself, as his body was filled with deadly bacteria. Blue kept it off his body so that it didn't spread. It only came out in the presence of toxins or chemicals, so he could somewhat control it. Blue was able to act as a chemical sensor, so it could act if he started releasing any of the toxins.

This gave him an extra excuse to kick the girls out of his lab, so he could “study.”

The results were about what he could expect, he was a walking disease vector at the moment. This was something he needed to quickly figure out, if this went airborne then he wasn't sure what he would do. That was due to the cocktail of different enchanted bacteria that the mold has assimilated. When it takes them over, it gives them the same mana process the mold receives at birth. This makes the bacteria even stronger, and he has yet to see just what it was capable of. The last thing he wants was for the first victim to be one of the two girls.

I have so many problems, and not nearly enough time. Can I even think about romance right now?!

Free from the girls he quickly pushes the door to the exchange open, it was glass and steel. The new exchange was much bigger than the original. It was divided into two sections, the store, and the bank. The store had a lot more goods and items. Items like lights, magic fuel, different kinds of clothes in different sizes, a variety of tools, and various types of food they got from the elves and collect from the beastmen's territory.

These items fill the shelves and the succubi watch the store very carefully now. This was due to how they handle theft when it happens.

Looking behind the counter he could see a succubus in a red dress, as she was watching an elf customer intensely. In her dainty arms was a long rifle with a lever attached at the bottom of the grip. The gun uses a magazine as opposed to the tube they usually possess. When the magazine is empty it will eject itself audibly for the succubus to hear. Why such a bizarre design that makes no sense?

Ammo was very scarce at the moment. This was because of how the plastic casing was produced in the refinery. It requires the superacids that Blue produces from his body, which leads to the creation of a weird machine that allows Blue to go in and out of the raw oil.

As the slime grew bigger, it grew smarter. Every cell in its slimy body was like a transistor, the more mass it had, the smarter it was. It could also keep control better over a farther distance from its center, like a gooey tentacle monster. Acids were no longer a problem for it, Rex had gotten past the antimony problem by dissolving it into a solution. Then Blue quickly discovered all of the uses this strange metal had when in acids.

When it came to acids, the king was one with both fluorine and antimony. Fluorine is like chemistry's dirty whore, and will react with almost anything but those pesky metals. They were like those annoying wives who held onto their husbands like screaming banshees. They have very strong bonds that were very hard to be broken. That is where the Antimony acted like the suave pool boy and coaxes that wife off the man. This lets the fluorine get to it and take all of his money. Together in acid form, they are the most dangerous couple that mankind has ever discovered.

Blue could now produce this seemingly innocuous, clear liquid that could dissolve even glass and plastics. Rex had no way to store it currently, and making the plastics cause the metal to slightly corrode every time they do it. Currently, he has no way to shape PTFE in mass. It was a polymer that was produced from the gas tetrafluoroethylene or TFE gas. This was something the refinery has just put into production for a few weeks.

Almost every single home in modern society has PTFE in it, in some form. It was discovered completely by mistake by a scientist named Roy Plunkett. He was tasked to find a new refrigerant to replace the ones used in fridges and freezers at the time. While reacting TFE gas he found that the pressure went away suddenly in the canister, but the mass hadn't changed. Cutting it open they found a waxy white powder. Being the boring researchers they were, they called it polytetrafluoroethylene, or PTFE.

This would later be sold as a coating on cooking pans. It made things incredibly hard to stick to the pans, and they were very easy to wash. This plastic has many incredible properties and was highly heat resistant. Rex has the powder, but no way to use it currently. It took a lot of pressure and heat to apply the coating properly and requires very special tools and machines. Rex hasn't had time to develop them yet.

Rex has just been too busy for it, so for now it would just cost a bit of metal every few months to make ammo. Rex wanted to open the way to these types of plastics for their various uses. The best one in his opinion was as a coating for clothes so that the rain rolls right off them. Looking in the sky, he could see clouds beginning to gather. Once a month the island would get hit with quite a storm, and it was that time again.

Waving at the succubus behind the counter who had her gun ready for any form of theft. The succubus merely shook her tail in greeting back, her hands weren't going to leave her gun as long as there was any possibility to shoot it. This lead to Rex having to go with a lever or pump action design. If it was automatic, they would not let go of the trigger until it ran dry. The M1 Garand he had designed had a similar problem, this was due to the speed at which they could pull the trigger and reload.

Looking at the plastic-formed magazine, he could see a spade-shaped groove pressed into both sides of it. A proper succubus reload is done with the tail, never take your finger off the trigger on a battlefield! This was the motto of the succubus warrior.

They are like a bunch of thugs, wielding 7.62x51mm rifles!

The bullets look just like a black shotgun shell, with the bullet surrounded in plastic. This meant they were just a plastic tube with no change in bullet size. the clips were completely straight, and 7 rounds each. They didn't need a scope since they had incredible eyesight. Most of the grip and stock were made of injection-molded plastic to reduce the weight of the weapon. This was the technology that made use of the succubi's ability to cast metals.

To injection mold something, you just pour in molten plastic and pump in gas. This was done with the engines he used in the refrigerator to make a compressor. The succubi made the molds out of metal and then poured in the plastic using a special metal hose Kira used the heating enchantment on. It looks like a vacuum cleaner with a long metal hose that you filled with powdered plastic. It was something fast they could throw together with existing technology. This was just to make small items though, Rex had yet to make a large injector.

When Rex thought of how to deal with the needs of so many races, only one material came to mind, and that was plastic. It could be reinforced to be as sturdy as steels, and it was easier to shape than glass was. The only problem they were having was getting enough workers to run all of the various parts of the refinery. It requires so many different people to control all of the different processes.

The planet they were on did not possess a magnetic field, meaning it had a completely different core structure than Earth. Without a magnetic field, you get electromagnetic waves from the sun that will bombard the planet constantly. This will destroy most electronics and meant a compass couldn't be used. Without a computer, they were forced to use workers to control the various pumps and enchantments. This severely slowed the production of any special products like ammo. Currently, they could only produce around 500 rounds a month.

Walking toward the back of the exchange was a door that leads to the second floor, where they would wait for Kera. Rex needed to find out why the war suddenly changed so rapidly, there was no way it was a single elf who did it all.
