Prologue

6 years since the last book...

Succubus Homeland, Borscht's Cave

Waking up and stretching on his giant cotton bed, the big white bear beastman slowly rolled around as he stretched out. It was rare that the bear wasn't woken up by a certain young man. Slowly getting onto all fours, he began to walk over to a large metal desk in the corner of the dwelling. His dwelling was much like a more comfortable cave. It was wide and spacious, and he could see across it from his bed. This made him feel much more comfortable here, and let him sleep peacefully.

A string of big fist-sized beads formed a large necklace that the bear slipped over his head. He also walked over to his dresser and used his Hand shaped paws to open it and dig out some sweat shorts. This was a recent trend that Rex was introducing among the beastmen.

Last year, a new exchange building had been built in the zone that was planned for the future city. This was going to be the next major project for the growing workforce. They had reached over a hundred workers, and now they were their own strong faction on the island. The beaverman, Bob, was put in charge of this crew. His real name was too ridiculous to pronounce if you weren't a beaverman, so Rex changed it. It had only meant Flattail anyway in beaver.

The main reason for his position was Bob's expertise in concrete laying. His thick beaver tail made an amazing tool for spreading and laying concrete. Bob was also a perfectionist that had a knack for being able to create structures. His being an insane sycophant that did whatever Rex told him, also helped. Bob had revealed a dream a while ago, he wanted to dam off the entire ocean. The steel and concrete had slowly formed this vision in the beaver's mind, and Rex was taking full advantage of it. Just like the succubi who produced weapons for him, all for the dream of progress!

Borscht didn't like wearing shirts, he didn't even really like wearing pants. His white fur was so thick he had no problems worrying about nudity. The rest of the working beastmen had adopted this though. Getting concrete in your fur was no easy matter to deal with, and it would usually have to be cut out. Scissors and other grooming products had come to the exchange, and a suggestion box was added. If they wanted something, a succubus would make a note of it for Rex to sort through later.

Walking out of the thick steel door that insulated his home, he felt the temperature difference, but his necklace kept him cool. Walking through the town, he was heading to a single location, Rex's new lab. It was a detached building that was 60 ft long and 30 ft wide. Outside of it were two little girls doing training for the mornings.

One was an adult Succubus, she had long black hair that flowed freely down her back. Her skin was a fair white and completely vein-less. Her eyes were a lightly glowing orange color, and she had dainty white horns. She had a red shirt that wrapped her chest and stopped right above her belly. It had thin straps that ran up the front and tied behind her neck. It served only to cover Kira's large and well-developed breasts. On her waist was a pair of short denim pants that showed her long legs off.

Her thin long tail danced behind her as she was sitting on a stool working on an enchanted plate for some device. It looked like it was a part of some kind of gun she was making. Kira had always preferred working outdoors since she was a kid.

On the other side of the lab was a tall dainty elven woman. Her dark brown hair was bound in a ponytail, and this only highlighted the serious expression she had on her face. She had green eyes and lightly tanned skin the color of wheat. She wore a sleeveless black shirt that hugged her body tightly and tight denim pants. A harness wrapped her upper body and sat below her modest breasts that usually held a gun.

She wore boots with steel-reinforced heels, soles, and toes. This wasn't standard steel, but dark iron that Rex had produced in small quantities. Right now he was probably in his lab conducti-

BOOOOOOOOM!

An explosion ripped a section of the building apart as debris began to rain, and flames shot out of the building. Welch had lost her balance and fallen over from her stretches. Kira had also dropped the tools she was holding and looked at Rex's lab with panic.

“REX!” The two girls screamed as they charged towards the wreckage of the front of the lab.

Borscht watched this all with shock, as he was looking in the sky. When the front of the building exploded and a fireball rose to the sky, he had seen a large blue blob get launched into the air. Right now the bear was carefully following this dot with his eyes. It had flown nearly straight up and was starting its fall. Seeing a dark mass in the center of it, he had an idea of what it was.

It looked like a bubble of blue snot, that had created an internal lattice as it bound something in its center. Soon this rapidly approached the ground and made an impact.

Boing!

This sound startled the two girls who were covered in soot, as they dug through the wreckage. Borscht had never seen the two so in sync with each other. Normally they were like two male cats, fighting over a vulnerable female. Now they were working together to lift the most difficult of wreckage. Welch had grown quite strong under the bear's tutelage, she was a natural. She could snap a 2x4 with a kick from her powerful legs now.

All three onlookers watched as the ball floated up from the impact, and slowly floated back down.

Boing!

It bounced again into the air, and they could imagine its trapped occupant's tragic screams. This bounce wasn't nearly as high, as it soon hit the ground.

Boing!...... Boing!... Boing! Splat!

The ball seemed to take a more liquid structure when the impact had settled enough and flowed like water as it opened up. It began condensing around the arms of the occupant and formed two plastic blue bracelets on his wrist's the color of the ocean.

The boy was a teenager now and looked to be around 16. He had dark blue pants that covered his legs, and a pair of black faux leather shoes made from a type of plastic. A belt was made of the same black material, and he had a gray button-down cotton shirt on. His dark blonde hair that resembled sand was a mess, and he was very pale. His green eyes had a confused expression as he seemed to be trying to figure something out.

“Rex, what happened?” Kira yelled as she ran over.

Welch wasn't saying anything, but from where her ears were pointed, you could tell she also wanted to know. They were both looking at Rex intensely as they waited for an answer.

Looking back at the flaming wreckage of the lab he was in, he could only deeply sigh at the sight as he collected his thoughts.

“I was trying to mana enrich oxygen to pump into a converter for making dark iron, but some nitrogen got mixed into it and began fusing with other gases.” Rex's pupils contracted when he said this. “Nitrogen is one of those elements that just really wants to be left alone... What I had created was incredibly unstable, and it exploded in the presence of absolutely nothing. Maybe some of the inert gas particles startled it?”

Rex began to slowly try to stand before he sat back down again.

“The ground is such a wonderful thing... when the world is spinning so quickly around me...” Rex said as he just stared at the dirt between his legs.

Dark iron had been the pinnacle material of the High Elves, it was an incredible metal. It had high heat and impact resistance that beat tungsten, and this made it a pain in the ass to work with. It was almost as dense as lead, and the mana did not penetrate it well when he tried to amalgamate it using mercury. This had led him to try all kinds of methods, as he wanted to produce this metal as accurately as possible.

That was because tooling it would take a very long time. Rex wanted to make cutters out of it for a lathe, and as the main component in drill bits. This meant he wanted to make round stock, and tool it as little as possible, he wanted to see if he could forge it in mana rich gas. This had been a massive blunder though.

“I just built that lab a few months ago, now I will need to get Bob up here again.” Rex muttered to himself, this was his old bad habit he couldn't get rid of.

Kira had given up on trying to stop him, as he just did it more when he felt pressured. Now he could talk to himself as much as he wanted. Wasn't that just better for everyone, they could all experience his thoughts in real-time?

This is what happens when two girls decide that you are a prime piece of beef, and both of them are easily capable of snapping your neck with their dainty hands. They had all carefully tried explaining using mana to improve physical power, but it made no sense to him! They all sounded like a bunch of quacks trying to sell him snake oil. Using the force of mana to create collisions in the body, and using mana to rebuild the muscles?

“I think I will just stick with building things, thank you.” Rex muttered in frustration.

Rex had to assume it was because he had no mana, he just couldn't grasp it. This was because everyone seemed to perceive it slightly differently. Welch could not cast a spell to save her life, her mana was incapable of leaving her body. Borscht had taught her the methods of the beastmen, and she saw an explosive rise in her power. Kira as well had developed greatly.

Imagine the shock of waking up and being smothered in a succubus' breasts. This was a peak where none stood previously, and now she had twin competing mountains. It was that easy a process that neither of them realized until morning. Kera had told them that hers happened mid-flight, and caused her to fall in the ocean. Kira was incredibly clumsy for a few months and had to slowly adjust.

She got the succubus' signature charm, as well as the ability to transform. Rex had never seen her use it though, she hadn't had any reason to.

Standing up, his legs weren't shaking, and he heaved a sigh of relief.

“Are you going to be doing that again? Aren't you a bit too weak to do something so dangerous?” Welch asked him trying to hide her worry.

Rex's fears for Kira were confirmed, she had made Welch into her worst enemy. The worst thing you can do is get in the way of someone with slight curiosity, as this only makes them want said thing more. After the glasses he had given her, as well as him being a half-teacher, they had a good relationship. Then a jealous succubus felt she needed to step in, and this made Welch only want him even more.

“Of course I'm going to try again.” Rex looked at her shocked. “Why would I ever let a single failure get in my way?”

Right now the two girls were eyeing each other, this had happened since he landed. They were having a silent showdown over who would get to comfort him. Rex hated the two of them fighting, and they were no longer allowed in his lab. They had started arguing when he was making new explosives to replace the nitroglycerin.

They had fought right behind him when he was dealing with something very dangerous. This had destroyed Rex's first lab and almost collapsed their house. Blue was made very angry, as it was the best shock absorbent material. It had quickly swallowed the entire flask, and then exploded, and directed the pressure at the roof.

They were covered in goo afterward and had to wait for Blue to slowly reform itself. It then vibrated very angrily at them, as if telling them off. It had gotten so much smarter over the years, as it continued to grow. Blue was constantly undergoing chemical changes in its structure, Rex had carefully observed this. The chemicals it consumed were only used to make more of itself, and the chemicals it produced were through reactions using mana.

His current theory was that he had created an incredibly acid-resistant mold that was rapidly evolving. When he drank it; he created two divergent strains, one became Blue, and the other lived in his body, and eventually replaced his immune system. Rex at most would get a sore stomach from drinking poisons. He could also resist acids and corrosion, this was because of a chemical that the mold released that was on his skin cells. If he scratched at it, it would begin to corrode as the acid could penetrate the cells.

This then leads to a horrific reaction from his body. He began to rapidly sweat out toxic bacteria. Fortunately, it was contained in his sweat, or it would have turned into a crisis. The mold in his body had a terrifying biological ability. They could inject a type of RNA, that would take control of the bacteria, and allow it to live in harmony with his body.

He only knew of one of them, and that was the deadly neurotoxin called Botulism. Clostridium Botulinum was a bacteria that could be found in improperly made canned goods. It loved dark, damp, warm places, and cans were filled with things it could eat. Botulism was the toxin this bacteria would create to kill any of its competition. It caused upper body paralysis, and you will die being unable to breathe, as the muscles in your face and throat just stop working.

Rex had worked in a canning plant and was very familiar with this bacteria, thankfully it wasn't air-born. It would die being exposed to air, but he had Blue to take care of it. Now Blue was so large he could no longer just remain as a single bracelet. They also both weighed several pounds and sometimes he wore it around his waist. Blue hated moving along the ground, it would mostly just ride around on Rex like some spoiled king/queen. He had no idea if a biological weapon could have a gender?

“Alright, Kira, Welch, let's go get Bob. I will need to get my lab fixed.” Rex said as he looked at the two girls plus bear.

The dwarves were working on making a tunnel through the mountain, this would more directly connect the north and south, an elevator would also be installed to the top of the mountain. Manpower was a constant issue, and only 1/3 of the island were working under them.

The group made their way to the center of the succubus homeland, a small stable that had been built that held various sized harnesses. Currently, over 700 succubi resided on this mountain, it was over half their race, and it was leading to overcrowding. To fix this issue, Rex had them live together as roommates, so many of them were related. A five-story building had been constructed in the last 3 years, and it had lots of little apartments in it.

Borscht and Welch both put on harnesses, but Rex didn't. He had a much faster and easier way down the mountain. Rex waved at the two as he walked away from them towards the edge of the settlement. A tall ladder had been set up that climbed up the side of the cliff. Rex looked at it with a sad smile on his face, as he slowly began to climb it.

Humans were lazy creatures by their very nature, just look at how convenient modern society was. The biggest complaint Rex had in his last life, was not being able to strangle his bitch of a wife. After that, it was that his work did not have a single elevator. Imagine carrying several pounds of explosive primer, that is very sensitive to friction, up and downstairs. Now he didn't even have his impressive physique back then.

Rex hadn't quite hit 5 ft. His diet wasn't exactly the best, and he sometimes forgot to sleep. He was shorter than both Welch and Kira, and Borscht could wear him as a necklace. He had gotten used to it over the years though.

The 7 years he had been here, had a profound effect on his thinking. Rex was an engineer at his core, he wasn't some idealist or politician. Bob was a better city planner than him, and Kira was a better enchanter. None of this mattered to him as much anymore, he had experienced it plenty in his last life. Rex was a problem solver at his core, and he wanted that to be his legacy.

This was a crappy world he found himself in, and he had been all alone in it. That first year nearly drove him insane, and he lost a lot of his humanity. Now he was trying to claw it back.

Rex was certain that he was the only human among the entire mainland, maybe even the world. The only way he would know was if he could explore it. This meant he would need to build a nation to support him, and become a part of it.

The elves and beastmen had a similar habit, and that was enslaving anyone weaker than them. The elves are what lead to the beastmen forming together, they also pushed the demons to stay unified. The skaarm were also a constant threat, as they tended to eat anything that wasn't them. The dwarves were also not nearly as unified as they once thought.

The dwarves had several factions and resided everywhere under the continent. The dwarves had many sub-species like goblins and gnomes. Most of them were short, as they lived underground, they also suffered severe photosensitivity. They had also lived around a highly acidic fungus, which lead to a PH problem in their stomachs. They had to use alcohol to help break down the food they consumed, or some kind of weak acid.

Most pure citric acid is gotten from fungus, none of it comes from fruit in the modern world. Some fungi can produce it in the presence of carbohydrates or cholesterol. This happens when they are breaking down the food, usually fruit. The fungi grew on a type of root plant that grew commonly underground. It sounded like some kind of potato; but he couldn't be sure, but if it was, he would fry it.

Climbing to the top of the ladder, he caught his breath, as he walked to the edge of the cliff. Looking back he could see the succubi lifting the bear and elf off the ground, he also saw Kira making her way towards him. In response, he raised his arm, and they grabbed each other's wrists, as he leaned off the side. His weight was picked up by Kira, and he was soon gliding down the mountain in the air. It was such a smoother way to travel.

As she grew up, the weight she could carry increased. Kira couldn't fly with his weight, and her wings were barely moving as they sailed through the air. Kira had a slightly larger wingspan than a normal succubus. She also had bigger horns and a slightly longer tail. He could only assume it was all of the life force-rich water she drank growing up. It must have been like calcium-rich milk to a growing succubus, who knew they also suffered nutritional problems.

This meant Shaya would probably benefit even more. Kira was the first succubus who never needed to feed, but do not mistake her for some pacifist. Kira had gotten fierier as she grew older, and having Welch around made her more volatile. Kira was the official leader of the succubi now, Kera had stepped down and acted as her office. That is what today was for, they would be conducting a council to decide their future direction.-

Rex and Kira had spent all night figuring things out, this time they had to take a more careful approach. Dryfys took everything Rex did and treated it as if it was gold. The war had been ongoing for 6 years, and it wasn't looking good for the beastmen. An elven warrior called Ivangor appeared on the battlefield after 6 long years of being missing. He then leads a raid the moment he appeared in the wee hours of the night.

Fourpaw had died during the night raid, and the beastmen lost one of their kings, but that wasn't all. The tiger king Lior, was also badly injured and may need a few years to recover. This wasn't all though, elven ships were seen approaching the beastmen port north of the acid island. Rex thought that kicking off a war would give him time to develop, but he was dead wrong. The elves weren't treating this as some territorial battle, this was an attempt at genocide.

This news had come last night, and neither of the two could sleep after they had received it. Rex had bags forming under his eyes, Kira looked as clean as usual. This could only make Rex further admire the constitution of the succubi. His only saving grace was that Kira grew up after he got past the worst of puberty. It was hell being surrounded by so many beautiful women all the time, but he got through it.

Kira and Rex were finally approaching the ground, and when he was a few inches off the ground, they let go of each other, and his feet hit the ground. Taking a few steps to kill his momentum, he watched Kira give a flap of her large wings, then stopped gracefully landing on her feet. They were on the south side of the island, near the base of the mountain.

The island was shaped like a half-moon, with the mountain that used to be the volcano in the center. This split the island into 3 main parts, the flat southern area, the marshy north, and the mountains that stretch to the east. The large area to the south had long been prepared to start a town and farms. Combining all of the prisoners with the ones who died over the 6 years they had over 300 people on the island, but it was less than 400. The people who worked for Rex and the succubi had it best, they were a mix of prisoners and slaves, but most of it was the slaves.

Without a census bureau to keep careful count, he had no way to know the exact population. He had also stopped counting the dwarves in this number, the trade had worked well to build a good relationship with them.

The slaves were much younger, and they weren't as stubborn to change. Rex didn't want to help spread the oppression in this world anymore, that is all a monarch is capable of. The refinery was a huge achievement and looked much more impressive than it was. Most of the large round structures were just storage tanks for the finished products. The fractional distill and the ethane cracking plant was the busiest parts of it.

The cracking plant turned the ethane and methane produced from oil into plastics. This gave Rex access to the gaskets and seals he would need. The distill also produced the various oil bases he could use to make mechanic's grease. This was a thick sticky black oil that was most commonly used in machinery. Dark iron was also one of the best materials he had ever seen to cut other metals. He also finally had a workforce that was beginning to become talented after 6 years of constant practice.

Soon two more thumps landed beside him. One was a graceful elf, who jumped out of her harness near the ground. The 40 ft fall was nothing to Welch, her natural dexterity gave her an incredible level of control over her movements. When Rex first met her, she was only slightly stronger than him, now she could easily lift him over her head, all 123 pounds of him. While he was small for the average, it was still quite impressive, as she probably just weighed 140 or 150 pounds soaking wet.

Elven warriors were considered incredibly rare, while they did have melee troops, these were mostly a type who used magic paired with a martial weapon. They did the same with bows and arrows as well. The only real exception he had heard about was their crazy-ass general, Ivangor. Both Welch and Ivangor were the same sub-species of wood elf, but Rex couldn't ask Welch about any of the elven leaders. She blamed them for the death of her grandmother and her attendants and carried a lot of hatred in her heart.

The other occupant to land was Borscht, but he had a special method he developed. Tuck his arms and legs in with his head, and roll using his impressive girth across the ground. Rex could hear the bear's laughter as he rolled almost 20 feet to kill his momentum. Looking at the gathered Succubi taxi service in the air, Rex smiled at the group, as he waved goodbye to them.

Now that he had his friends with him, it was time to get to the city planning work. Kera would be arriving at the island later with her subordinates. The plan was to do a joint meeting between the succubi and the workers, it was time to begin to expand off the island, and they would need to find a new source of citizens. Rex didn't want the large beastmen or elven tribes, he wanted all of the small groups that sprung up.

Bob came from one of these groups, the beavermen were a small group in the beastmen. Rex wanted to give these oppressed people a real chance, he couldn't help sympathizing with the weak. While this wouldn't work on the elves, he wanted to continue to peel slaves away from them. While they might not be willing to work for him immediately, that didn't matter as much anymore.

Soon the strength of your arm would be worthless, and only your willingness to work with the whole would matter. The collaboration led to some of the greatest achievements of mankind, and Rex wanted to instill this belief in the future generations. That was the only way to create a lasting civilization. You had to create a beautiful vision that all could see and grasp, then you had to give them the tools to fight for it till their hands bled.

Too much was going on now, and it was time that the succubi got involved in it. The results of the next few years would determine the course of the mainland's future. It was now time to begin to show the mainland a new 6th faction had silently formed.
