Chapter 63: One Week Break

I had a friend who was supposed to come visit me, he worked on an oil rig out in the pacific and we often talked online and played games, I have known him since high school. Brandon had been at sea for over 9 months, he was 26 and in probably better shape than most of the people I knew. He had a 25 year old wife and a 3 year old daughter that has autism, she was actually the inspiration behind Shaya. He got COVID between the time he got offshore to get vaccinated and the time it took him to take a flight back to Colorado from Oregon.

 

He had to be put in the ICU in Denver, and I found out last night from his wife that he didn't make it. This is the second close friend I have lost to this disease, and I pray that if you haven't gotten vaccinated and if you have access to it, please do it. I myself have gotten a Moderna vaccination and am fully vaccinated. This really isn't about being strong or weak, I really wanted to crack a beer and listen to some of his stories while we played cheap indie games. 

 

I have lost 2 close friends to this disease, and this is the platform I have the most power on. The vaccine really is safe, everyone I know who is vaccinated is still here, everyone has friends, family, and people who care about them, that means you to, please protect yourselves. I need to take some time and focus on getting my mental state back to where I want it.
