Yernia grew up in comfort and learned the least amount of knowledge.
“That doesn’t matter. I can apply bandages and disinfect wounds. I’m pretty good at sewing, too.”
There was only one doctor and two nurses around here and they weren’t enough to take care of a large number of people.
The nurses, who were about to faint from exhaustion, glowered at the prying man.
So did the doctor as he pushed the man aside and grabbed Yernia’s hand.
“Welcome. I was waiting for someone like you to help.”
“Huh?”
“Disinfecting wounds and wrapping bandages. That’s all you need to do. I’m grateful that you’re here.”
Yernia’s eyes widened at his words of welcome.
“I’m glad to help, doctor.”
And, that’s how Yernia looked after the injured.
It made her sick every time she had to sew their loose flesh together.
Embroidering on a handkerchief and sewing a person’s torn skin were too different.
She felt like going insane at the moment but she hid her weakness tactfully in order to help the people who needed her the most.
However, when the disinfectant was poured frantically into a soldier’s messy wound, a scream pierced her eardrums.
“Get some fresh air for a moment, My Lady.”
The doctor focused on treating his patients without any complaints, and sent out Yernia on the first night.
Unlike Yernia, he didn’t cry nor was he scared.
The stars had popped out in the dark sky and it was already morning when she returned to the barracks.
Come to think of it.
She hadn’t even eaten yet.
“Who told you to do this, Yernia?”
She made eye contact with Cassian as soon as he came out of the barracks.
The barracks for injured soldiers were close to the barracks where Cassian attended meetings.
“How did you know that?”
“I always keep tabs on wherever you go. But what is this all of a sudden? It surprised me that you want to leave the barracks while I attend meetings.”
Yernia was also surprised to realize the dangers on this battlefield.
“I did it because I wanted to help. I also didn’t want to be alone in the barracks. Didn’t you come out of the meeting just now because you were so busy?”
Usually, Cassian wouldn’t look for her until nightfall, but he didn’t even search her whereabouts around that time, so she thought he was too occupied.
Yernia wasn’t disappointed at all.
She was just relieved.
If Yernia kept waiting for him to return to the barracks, she would have to deal with boredom and that was too difficult.
