“Oh! It hurts!”

Habin wasn’t surprised.

It appeared as if he did it on purpose.

He stabbed her in the side and now her clothes were stained with blood.

Yernia tried to stay alert but it wasn’t enough.

She had never been a hostage before.

Nobody had pointed a blade on her neck or at her ribs so she had no idea what to do when she got stabbed on the side.

Fear kept her from any further movements.

“I’ll treat your wound when we get out.”

“…….”

Yernia was so speechless that she couldn’t cry anymore.

Was Habin planning to take her as well?

She already expected it but she still couldn’t believe that he was going to kidnap her.

What did she have to do to keep herself safe?

What should she do?

Before she knew it, all the people inside the barracks had come out.

They must have intended to help her but unfortunately, Yernia was held hostage, so they couldn’t do it.

Everyone froze, fearing that they might make things worse.

Just in time, someone shouted. “Major Lecardo is coming!”

The sound of her husband’s name brought her instant relief but it was a crisis for Harbin.

Ha-bin glanced around, cursing.

“Don’t let him come here or Mrs. Lecardo will die!”

Of course, it would take a while for Cassian to save her since the battlefield was quite far from the barracks’ location.

Before he arrived on the scene, Yernia would most probably bleed to death.

When she closed her eyes to get rid of her confusion, she suddenly heard multiple horse hooves approaching.

“Hurry up and tell him that if he doesn’t want Mrs. Lecardo to die, he must stop and remain in place !”

“Who’s going to die?”

At that moment, Yernia felt the cold wind slashing against her skin before opening her eyes.

Had Cassian brought the sandstorm with him?

She made eye contact with him as he sat on top of a black horse.

Cassian, who arrived with blood trickling down his forehead, hardened for a moment.

He stared at Yernia who was currently taken, hostage.

“Yernia, breathe.”

“…….”

“It’s all right. Breathe.”

Only then did Yernia realize that she was holding her breath.

As she slowly exhaled, Cassian came down from his horse.

She was relieved to see him standing in front of her.

“Cassian, I….”

She wanted to admit that she had been stabbed, but she couldn’t.

Cassian’s eyes went round and large and Yernia suddenly forgot how to breathe.

Feeling cornered, Habin stabbed her in the side one more time before escaping.

“Damn it!”

Habin had abandoned Yernia and ran away.

She lost track of the situation for a moment.

Her movements went slow and so was her mind.

When she collapsed, Cassian caught Yernia in an embrace.

The last thing she saw was her husband’s pale face before closing her eyes.

The barracks went quiet.

Some people had quite a few injuries, but there were no casualties.

Cassian immediately returned after killing the monster on the battlefield.

Unluckily, the place, where the drinking party should be held, was as quiet as a grave.

It couldn’t be helped.

Major Lecardo’s wife was taken, hostage.

A guide had stabbed her in front of him and she hadn’t woken up yet.

“Please save her. Save her no matter what.”

After Cassian settled Yernia on the bed, he called a doctor to treat her.

Cassian’s hands were soaked in blood as he tried to stop the bleeding in her ribs.

He couldn’t do anything else as the doctor treated her wound with a sense of urgency.

Even though Yernia got hurt, he couldn’t bear to summon the dark monster inside of him ever again, afraid that she would get hurt.

It was a misjudgment on his part.

Her injuries almost made her lose her life.

It was similar even now that Yernia collapsed.

He had never felt so incompetent for the first time.

“Major!”

A ball of fire seemed to burn his insides, making him cough blood.

Cassian wiped the blood with a handkerchief that Yernia gave her.

Yernia’s face, smiling brightly as she gave him a handkerchief, seemed to have just happened a while ago but now she was unconscious as if she were dead.

“Major, aren’t you overdoing it?”

He spat out blood twice on his way to Yernia.

Cassian was still human no matter how strong he was as an Esper.

He devoured the large monster and suffered internal injuries.

Staggering, he held the nearby table with his hands to support himself.

Due to the veins bursting in his scleras, the whites in his eyes were red as he glanced at the person helping him stand upright.

Captain Ricks’ eyes widened when Cassian looked over his shoulder.

“Habin has escaped.”

“You ordered me to watch over her at the barracks,” Tiddy reported behind Cassian’s back. “I have no face to show you out of shame. Please kill me.”

Habin dared to hold Yernia hostage, stab her to death, and escape, unscathed.

He was going to punish the drunk knight who couldn’t fulfill his duties even if he specifically told him to protect his wife but now wasn’t the right time.

It wasn’t too late to catch that guy named Habin.

“Before I kill you, you must capture him.”

“I accept your command, Major.”

“Keep him alive and bring him to me this instant.”

Cassian intended to make Habin as food for the monster inside him.

He would rip his limbs to shreds as painfully as possible before swallowing him.

Still, he didn’t think that it would be able to relieve his anger.
