My room is small and I don't really put too much stuff in it considering I don't really spend a lot of time there. A bookshelf, a small bedside table with drawers filled with clothes, a small couch and a small table. Everything is small and not exactly imposing. The only thing that really gets one's attention is the medium-sized counter near the window.

It's where I do alchemy.

Of course, it only looks like a place where I 'read' because I hide my tools; Granny has no idea of what I can do. If someone from the government finds out what I can do, even if they use tools to discern the truth out of her, she wouldn't be lying. Also, there is the fact she'll find out about the vitamin potions. I'm afraid she'll tell me to stop making them.

My past life sister and her… sometimes, I feel like they're the same.

I hurry over to the table and take out the herbs I have in my bag. For starters, I'm going to need to explain how Alchemy works for me. Most Alchemists have to put up their hand against the object they want information for. I know some blacksmiths that do this for iron. But I don't need to do it like that, I just need to do that with my eyes. However, it's going to be different when I need to do something else. For example, to scatter the chemicals that are inside a herb.

"Scatter." I announce as screens pop out in front of me.

[Some Herbs That Is Useful]

[Components:

This One Thing That Is Very Important For Some Reason; good to be used for FIRST AID POTION (EXPAND TO KNOW MORE INGREDIENTS)

THE OTHER STUFF; ….]

"Take This One Thing That Is Very Important For Some Reason."

And just like magic, that one particular thing floats in front of me; in a shape of liquid. I take one small plate where it goes down softly. And then I do this to the other components of the herbs until the leaves become dry. I put the leaf aside until I have at least ten more dry leaves. They will become spices. There are no more nutrients on it but it tastes really good.

When I finish taking all of the components of the herbs, my eyes start becoming dry. I look at the window and see that the moon is way too high for it to still be around seven in the evening. I need to go to bed to make breakfast tomorrow. Or later. I'm not quite sure what time it is right now, there's no clock here unlike on Earth. I take the dry leaves I put aside and burn them a bit.

I grab a fire based magic stone I hid under my bed and carefully tap it twice to the side and a small flame comes out on the top.

Magic stones are just normal stones that people who are affiliated with mana, specifically fire this time, put their mana in. So even normal people who don't have mana can still be able to use it for convenience.

With dry leaf in hand, I put it slowly near the flame. I pull it out almost immediately because the leaf has already started burning. I blow air on it to stop it from burning anything further. I start grinding it with a small hammer. Times like these I wish I had mortar and plaster. Earth really has more tools that can be used here. After that, when the leaves all turn into ashes, it is now a spice.

I do it a few more times when my sleepiness gets the better of me and I accidentally put my finger to the flame without the leaf.

"Ah!" I exclaim but shut my mouth off quickly. I quickly go down, as carefully and silently I can be, to the kitchen for clean water. I quickly put my finger inside the bucket and hiss in pain. I put the finger out to blow on it but my action pauses when I see a screen says,

[BURN] And a zoom in picture of my injury.

What?

What the Hell is that?

[EXPAND on how to heal a Burn]

"Expand…" I whisper in confusion.

Then, the screen shows something else.

When I first started realizing what my ability can do, it only just shows the ingredients needed to make a potion. For it to work, I needed to make a trial and error to succeed.

But this…

What is this?

[For a Burn to heal, clean it properly with cold and clean water. And put FIRST AID POTION but drinking it won't fix it, using it as a salve would be better. For a FIRST AID POTION to be a salve, putting a flour in…]

Hey, hey! Isn't this dangerous?! It's already scary enough that I know how the Alchemy skills really worked but giving me this kind of ability on top of that is going to put me on the spot?

But then my eyes go back to the screen.

Nobody would know if I tried it, though, right? It would be fine as long as nobody knows, right? I should just try it once, right?

Right.

"And this is an apple." Granny, who looks way younger than she looks right now, points to a fruit in her hand. And then, she dives into a paper with a pen in her hand and writes the word APPLE. "This is how you spell it. Do you get it?"

"Yes."

"Okay, Ramoonie. You write it."

I take the pen out of her hand and start to write. It's wiggly, and, more or less, looks like a chicken wrote it but it's still readable.

"Good." Granny nods in approval. "Again. You write a sentence that uses an apple as a topic."

I write, Apple tastes…

However, thoughts come through my head. Granny is older, and beautiful, she can sew, write and read. Only people who worked with nobles and people who will work in guilds can do all of those. But Granny isn't an Adventurer or works in guilds. I wonder if she used to be a maid in a noble house.

"Granny," I call.

"Yes?"

"Why are you teaching me how to write?"

She pauses and gives me a look. She slowly pats my head before saying, "Because I owe you."

I blink. "Me?"

"Yes."

"Owe… you mean me? And not my parents?"

Granny smiles sadly. "Maybe."

I'm about to open my mouth again when —

— I gasp as soon as I open my eyes.

A dream… Right? Or was that a memory when I was a child? I don't remember that happening. She did teach me how to do those, though, it's just that one particular scene… I don't remember her saying she owes me something.

But my head hurts as soon as I try to think about it.

I breathe on and close my eyes. Relax, focus, clear my mind… That's right. I had something else I should worry about. I look at the finger that had a burn last night.

Completely gone. Not a lick of anything.

And then there's this. This screen.

[Fulfilled the requirements to Level Up!]

[Alchemy (Medicinal) LVL. 2]

[allows to find and better information, will tell instructions, can now be used to perform operations on injuries, as long as it isn't deadly.]

What requirements? Also, medicinal? What the fuck does that mean?

There's so much stuff I don't know about my own ability but I don't really have much time to think about it now.

I look at the window and the sun is already up.

A new day has started.
