Baby Wolf!

 

(Rose’s POV)

The maids, who were staring at each other silently, burst into laughter in unison.

“Though, in a way, that’s the charm of our young lady.”

“The lady-like type is also very attractive.”

“Me? Lady-like?”

“Well, let me give you an example.”

Mira nodded her head. Immediately, the two maids got up. Rika, the maid with fluffy hair, cheerfully said.

“We’re a young couple walking down the street. Honey, where are we going?“

On the other hand, Rachel, the maid with short hair, spoke simply.

“I don’t know.”

“A park? Or a market? What would you like to do? Oh, well let’s do all of them!”

The two walked with their arms intertwined. Then, a maid jumped up and rushed to the both of them. Rika spoke as if reading a Korean book.

“Ah, the carriage suddenly-!”

As soon as the maid, no, ‘the carriage’ was about to collide with Rika, Rachel pulled Rika from the waist. Rachel waited for the carriage to completely pass before looking down at Rika.

“You should always be careful.”

She spoke in a tone that sounded indifferent, yet Rachel’s arm still firmly held Rika’s waist. Rika then smiled so brightly that her eyes couldn’t be seen and suddenly screamed. 

“Ayiee!”

‘Argh!’ The maids suddenly screamed as they left the room. ‘Why the hell are they screaming? Well, Rachel’s just holding on to Rika to prevent her from bumping into the carriage. Wouldn’t it be even weirder if she didn’t hold on to her in that situation? Mira noticed the confused look on my face as she flailed her arms. 

“The sweetness that blooms like beans in a drought amidst indifference is an oasis in a desert! A dandelion blooming in a hostile land!”

“Ah, I love the sweetness that a person gives, even if they don’t show it!”

The two returned to their seats after bowing gracefully like actors in a real troupe. Even though Rika is like that, Rachel is really good at acting. No, that might have been her genuine personality.

“These days, I’m only looking for books with indifferent male protagonists.”

“That’s right! I fell in love with that type of male lead.”

The rumours that Mira had been selling romance novels to the maids were true. Instantly, the maids, who at first said they didn’t like books, became hardcore devotees. They once had a heated conversation wherein they said things such as, “I like the male character in this novel because of this, and I like the male character in that novel because of that.”  It was a never-ending comparison amongst them. 

“Well, don’t you think having a lover like that is not really all that great?”

They were the maids who were sitting on the other side. As soon as that maid spoke, the maids sitting next to her nodded as if she understood what she meant.

“If I were dating an aloof person, I’d feel like I am the only person who likes him.”

“I know right! I’ve been in a relationship before and a nice and friendly man is still the best choice. ”

The maids who loved an indifferent male lead glared at them all at the same time.

“You guys are clueless. If it was me, I would always be nervous if I had a sweet lover. If he’s kind to me, there’s a big chance that he’ll be kind to other people as well.”

“I think that I would be so unlucky if my lover was kind to other people as well.” 

However, the maids who loved a sweet man did not give up either.

“You’ll change your mind once you start dating.”

“This is why you shouldn’t say anything if you haven’t been in a relationship before.”

“Oh, it’s not like you guys can’t, it’s just that no one wants to be with you guys.”

Even Satan would flinch from what she just said. The maids were all astonished. I thought I was the only one who thought so.

“Oh my gosh, how could you say those words without any hesitation?!”

“That was out of line! Did you seriously think that we’re incapable of dating?!”

“It’s not too much. What’s so bad about what I said? You guys started it!”

The fight suddenly grew more and more intense. If I leave them be, it might turn physical. So I got up and put a stop to this fight. 

“Everyone, stop.”

Mira felt so upset.

“But, my lady…! But they just don’t know the charm of an indifferent male protagonist!”

“Yeah, you guys are right.”

The other maids were also upset.

“But they don’t know, the charm of a sweet male protagonist!””

“That is true as well, I agree with you.”

The maids were speechless.

“Wait a minute, my lady. How can you agree with both sides? You have to decide which one is right!”

Why do I have to decide? Both are correct. And then I laid down on the bed again.

“Well you guys said that you don’t like being too indifferent or too sweet.”

“…. We definitely said that.”

In this case, it is enough to mix both of their opinions appropriately. Then I raised my finger.

“How about a man who is indifferent to other people, but he’s kind and sweet towards his lover?”

Thud. An invisible rock fell over the maid’s heads. The room became quiet in an instant. I waited for the maids to open their mouths with my head supported by my other arm. How long would I have to wait? Mira was the first to open her mouth.

“That is so right, why didn’t we think of that? I was thinking between being unconditionally indifferent or deciding between both sides.”

“There’s no law that you have to choose one or the other.”

From the mouths of the maids, a loud scream came out that was incomparable to what it had been a while ago.

“If there was such a man, I would get down on one knee and propose to him right away!”

Mira burst out laughing. And she shouted proudly.

“Duke Serenity!”

The author gave numerous speeches from beginning to end about how miserable and terrifying it would be to be in a relationship where they are the one who actively expresses his love towards his partner. In the end, the author vowed to himself. 

“Next time, I will definitely be with someone who likes me more.”

‘It is said that the author’s lover was blunt enough to make a person lonely even when they’re together. I hugged the pillow and looked up at the ceiling. As long as the engagement has been confirmed, I should not receive a breakup notice just like last time. I have to hold onto him somehow until Belial decides that he’s going to kill me. But before then…’

“Am I really indifferent to him?”

“Yes.”

Even if I ask other people besides the maids, no, even if I asked a hundred people, they would definitely give the same answer. I thought I was doing well as a romance fantasy novel fan, but I guess I was delusional. Then I asked the maids for a favor. 

“Can you lend me some of the romance novels you guys read?”

A magnificent pure white carriage incomparable to any that belonged to our family stopped in front of the mansion..

Behind Belial stood servants holding luxurious boxes and bouquets of flowers. Belial blushed and acted very coyly.

“I also prepared a present for your family, do you think they would like it?”

As expected, today, he shows such sweetness. But I can’t lose to him. I read a lot of romance novels in preparation for today. I approached Belial, picked up the hem of my dress with my hand and said.

“Hello. My-“

My mouth stopped moving. Belial’s height, which was over 180 cm, suddenly caught my eye. Standing next to Belial, it is not unreasonable for my brother to laugh at me and say I looked like a dwarf. Pfft…. The maids quickly covered their mouths. At least those maids whose hands are free managed to survive, but not the servants that Belial brought. They couldn’t cover their mouth as they were holding a lot of presents in both their hands. The servants tried to cover their faces with the gifts, as if to avoid being killed, with a reddened face.

If they want to laugh, they are free to do so. There are times in life when you want to laugh in front of your boss. I decided to leave my seat so that the servants could laugh comfortably. As I pulled the hem of Belial’s robe.

“Let’s go inside, my baby wolf.”

I heard another reaction from the servants again. The servants were now in tears because they could no longer hold back their laughter. As soon as Belial turned around, all the servants collapsed onto the floor. In particular, Mira was hitting the ground with her fists alongside Becky.

Did it hurt that much?

“Oh, Lady Rose. Please stop…”

“This is not what we wanted…! But of course, this is good in its own way…!”

It was me who spoke, but the shame was on the onlookers. These people seem to have a high level of empathy. I immediately glanced at Belial. Belial’s face was whiter than ever. I really don’t think I should be here anymore.

They are worried, but Belial is equally worried as them. It would be beneficial to quickly get out of the situation. With that in mind, we entered the mansion. As soon as the doors closed behind us, we heard a roar of laughter from outside. They laughed so loud that we could clearly hear it from inside. 

I listened to their laughter and opened my mouth.

“Laughing is good for their health.”

“……”

“We are protecting the health of those people. Baby wolf…..”

Before I could even finish my words, Belial’s hand immediately covered my mouth. Even though he blocked it,I could easily remove his hand with my own strength.

It’s just lightly touching my mouth. If he really intended to block it, he’s not doing it properly. With that in mind, I slowly lowered Belial’s hand. 

“What’s wrong with you?”
