Chapter 3: 3

Xi Yu stared at the man opposite him who has the same aura as his older sister in his past life. According to the original owner’s memories, this was his half-brother Xi Wen. 

“Don’t think I don’t know what you are planning to do.” Xi Wen warned. 

Would you look at that? Even the tone and choice of words was the same. He really resembles his sister. 

“I don’t understand what you’re talking about.” Xi Yu doesn’t have any clue about what this brother was talking about. 

“Xi Yu!” 

“I really don’t know ah! Ge? Aren’t you supposed to be happy since I obediently stayed at home for an entire month?” Xi Yu was exasperated. He can’t accept being scolded without doing anything. 

Xi Wen’s gloomy expression vanished instantly the moment he heard his younger brother call him ge after so many years. 

“What did you just say?” He asked in a solemn tone. 

“I said I don’t have any idea of what you are talking about.” Xi Yu answered obediently, he has this inkling feeling that if he said the wrong answer this new relative in front of him will act like his sister when provoked. His sister was the only person he feared in his past life. 

“The one after that.” 

Xi Yu knitted his brows, “Aren’t you supposed to be happy since I obediently stayed at home for a month?” He asked hesitantly. 

“The one before that.” 

Xi Yu wracked his brains, facing a ticking time bomb in front of him his thoughts was jumbled. Those was his words ba? He didn’t think he missed out any words? Did he mean the word brother? 

“Ge?” 

Xi Wen in front of him nodded. “What’s your intention in calling me that after such a long time?” He sounded like he was suspicious of Xi Yu’s motives. 

“Can’t I call you that? Aren’t you older?” 

“If you know I’m older, why didn’t you call me that in the past?” The focus of the interrogation was shifted, for some reason Xi Yu was relieved. 

“I was angry.” The original owner was angry. 

Xi Wen pursed his lips, “And you’re not angry now?” 

“En” Seeing the doubtful look of Xi Wen, Xi Yu sighed. “Being angry for something unreasonable will only decrease my lifespan. Anyway, I admit that I was foolish back then. My emotions got the better of me.” 

“I don’t believe you.” 

“Aiyaa, you’re hopeless.” Xi Yu gave up. There is no point in wasting his saliva to the person that can’t be convinced. 

“Xi—” 

Xi Yu immediately cut him off,  “Ge, you’re the hope of the Xi Family, quickly go and return to the company. Don’t waste your time here. Every moment is precious. Time is gold.” 

The angered Xi Wen was about to explode again. Xi Yu whispered ‘oops’ in his head before frantically coaxing his brother to calm down again. 

“Haha, I was just joking. It is good to take a break once in awhile. Remember to rest ge.” 

His words seemed to be successful causing Xi Yu to breathe a sigh of relief. 

He didn’t expect to deal with another ticking time bomb in this life. It seems like the shadow of his overprotective sister won’t even live him alone even in this new life and new world. 

Due to the sense of familiarity, Xi Yu loosened up and acted like he always do in front of family members. “Ge you have to believe me. I really am determined to change. I think it’s time for me to grow up. After all I’m already old enough. Don’t worry about me any longer, I’m a dog if act rebellious again.” He promised. 

“I’m watching you.” Xi Wen wasn’t fully convinced but he decided to give Xi Yu a chance to prove himself. If he really cant, then he’ll send this brat abroad. 

“Wooo~ that’s creepy.” 

Xi Wen scoffed at him. He loosened his tie and closed his eyes. He was tired after attending meetings after meetings for the rest of the day. Adding the problem that his brother might act up again, he took an hour trip to pay him a visit. 

The words of the servants might be true, his brother might have really changed for the better. Xi Wen thought that it’d be best if he behaved himself for the rest of his life. 

“Sleep at the guestroom ba, it isn’t comfortable to sleep on the couch in that posture.” Xi Yu advised which was responded with a casual wave from Xi Wen. 

He was indicating not to bother with him. 

“Then ge, am I allowed to go out now?” He was cautious while saying that. 

Xi Wen abruptly opened his eyes. “Are you meeting with those foolish brats again?” 

“No, really. I’m planning to adopt a cat.” Meaning he was going to the pet shop. 

Xi Wen eyed him suspiciously. “You can’t even take care of yourself and now you’re planning to take care of a life? You’ll kill the cat.” He chastised. 

“Ge, you are purposely messing with me. That’s not good. Don’t think I won’t cry, my tear glands are ready.” Xi Yu joked. 

“I’ll have someone send a cat over.” 

Xi Yu nodded, “Then I’ll thank you in advance.” 

“…..” Aren’t you suppose to argue until you get your own way? Since when did you like receiving presents from me? 

Xi Yu didn’t know his thoughts. After repeatedly confirming about the matter of the cat. Xi Yu finally gave the peace his brother needed at this moment. He looked like he hasn’t sleep for days. 

Opening his eyes to watch his younger brother walk upstairs, Xi Wen secretly prayed that his brother will remain this way. 

Old Lu approached Xi Wen. “Sir”

Xi Wen straightened his posture. He motioned the old butler to sit down. “Was it true?” 

“Yes sir, the young master was behaved this month. He did not sneak out nor did he caused troubles to the servants.” 

“What do you think about his sudden docile attitude?” 

“He’s determined to change for the better.” 

Xi Wen hummed and dismissed him. 

He trusted the old butler’s judgement.

When Xi Wen returned to the main house, he was not surprised to see everyone present. 

He gave the maid his coat and walked in. If outsiders see them like this they’d definitely misunderstood that the Xi family is about to bankrupt because of the solemn atmosphere in the living room. 

“How is he?” Lin Ran started. She was Xi Wen’s mother. 

“Not Dead.” 

“Xi Wen! Mind your words.” Xi Liang, his father warned. 

Xi Wen ignored his father and sat beside Xi Wan who was silent. 

“Yuyu wants a cat.” His words made the three people around him startled. 

“A cat? He can take care of a cat?” Xi Liang doubtfully asked. 

“Regardless if he can or not, just give it to him.” Xi Wan commented. 

Xi Wan tap the coffee table, “Forget it, I’ll give him one personally.” 

“You’re busy, let me do it.” Xi Liang was implying that Xi Wan has a company to take care of. 

“No, with your taste I will not be surprised if you chose an ugly-looking-cat.” Lin Ran interjected. “I will do it.” 

The three started to argue about who will buy a cat for Xi Yu. Xi Wen watch them boast their connections until he was satisfied. “It’s arranged. My secretary will give him the cat tomorrow. The three of you arguing like this is pointless.” 

“Brat, what’s the point of telling us this if you have done it already?” 

Xi Wen looked at his father like he was an idiot. “I only told you that he wants a cat. Don’t put words in my mouth dad.” 

Before the the four of them engage in a debate, the cooking auntie came to stop them. “Dinner is ready.” 

Xi Wan contemplated for a bit, “What breed did you chose?” 

“Persian cat” 

“Oh, I’ll reimburse you later.” 

Xi Wen did not look at him. “No need.” 

“I insist.” 

“I said no need.” 

“No, I’ll transfer it later.” 

“There is no need.” Xi Wen repeated with emphasis. 

Xi Wan stared at him and he stared back. Both man with the same facial features look at each other in stalemate. The atmosphere also dropped in several degrees. 

Lin Yan ignored her two sons and headed to the dining room along with her husband. Such scenario happens all the time when these two meet. 

Xi Wen was the first to back down. “Alright” 

Xi Wan nodded and followed his mom. 

It’s hard when you’re the only mature person in the family. Xi Wen sighed, welp he really can’t chose his own birth family so he have no choice but to be patient. 

“Don’t let Yuyu attend Ruan Qianxi’s banquet this coming weekend.” Lin Yan gracefully cut the steak on her plate. 

“I know.” 

They heard that Ruan Qianxi’s brother, Ruan Tang and Lan Ziyi will announce their engagement during the banquet. Xi Yu likes Lan Ziyi. Like might even be an understatement, to be more accurate Xi Yu is obsessed with this alpha. 

Xi Yu had even tried seducing Lan Ziyi with his pheromones before. An act that is considered a disgrace for an omega. 

Him attending the banquet will only bring trouble. To avoid it, he have to stopped. If locking him on his room means he can’t mess around then the Xi family is willing to do it. The world is big, Xi Yu is a beauty, he will definitely find the Alpha that suits him perfectly. 

Regardless if they receive the resentment of the young omega, they have to do it. If receiving Xi Yu’s hate can save his already crumbling reputation, all is well. 

What worried Xi Wen isn’t the possible commotion that Xi Yu will do if he happens to be there, he was worried that due to broken heart Xi Yu might give his chastity to a stranger. That’s what usually happens in romance novels that he read before.
