“What about ‘Mr. Jiggles’?”, I suggested as a joke. “Master, I don’t think such a name would be appropriate.”, Athena voiced her opinion.
‘She’s right.’, a monster that can disintegrate both flesh and bones to be called ‘Mr. Jiggles’ would be thought as a joke, but it would be funny.
“I got it!”, I filled out the document and returned it to the guild receptionist. She picked up a stamp and stamped the document. “With this your familiar registration is complete, keep this document as the confirmation of the registration.”, she returned the paper that I had filled out.
“Master why did you name the slime ‘Azure’?”, Athena asked as we were making our way to the Dwarf Willows shop.
“Because of its color.”, I answered easily without a tinge of lie in it. Athena simply nodded to my short answer.
We arrived at Willows shop and we found him smithing a new sword, we were greeted again by the heat wave hitting our faces. Willow noticed us and said. “Welcome back, if ya want to eat somethin’ there’s food upstairs. Also, what is the deal with that slime?”, Willow said pointing at the slime on my shoulder.
“This slime is my familiar, I registered it at the guild.”, I said. Willow looked at me with an astounded look. “You seem to have an affinity for taming monsters.”, the dwarf said impressed.
“Is that so… Anyway, we will be going upstairs.”, I said as I was going upstairs. I did not know whether I had an affinity for taking monsters, the only thing I knew as of right is that this slime is cute.
Willow said that he would let us stay here, of course I know I should not easily trust him. But I decided to trust him since he said he would teach me blacksmithing. I would get as much information and knowledge as possible from him. If he ever tried something, I would make sure that would not happen.
We went up stairs and entered some type of living room, on the tables were three plates and one of them was empty.
‘Was he waiting for us?’, I thought as I sat down on a chair and started eating together with Athena. The food was stew it tasted like chicken. It was good, it wasn’t as good as the food back on earth, but it wasn’t too shabby either.
After we ate dinner we went to sleep, since Willow said we could sleep here we asked him where our rooms would be and he said there are three rooms in this house one of them is his, so we took the two rooms and went to sleep.
I woke up and went straight to the workshop, I left Azure in my room, it was still resting… I think. I was excited to learn about blacksmithing. Back on earth I would not want to do it since it wouldn’t really serve any purpose to me.
The dwarf was already there ready to teach me and Athena was still asleep. “Alright, boy. I’m going to teach you about metals and blacksmithing.”
Alright, where to start? The metals most used in this world is of course, steel, metal, and other normal type metals. In this world there are also magic metals like mythril. However, the most perfect metal out there is called Orichalcum. It has been said it was unbreakable, as if it was made by the gods themselves. If turned into a sword it would be the sharpest sword and it would be unbreakable.
The way to make a sword would be to heat metal to a high point until it started melting. At times like these I would wish I would’ve listened to my science teacher. After it has been melted you put the melted metal into a mold and let it cool down a bit. And then you have to hit it with a hammer to take away the impurities of the metal to get their desired outcome. After the metal is as pure as possible, you use a grindstone to sharpen it and shorten it.
Magic sword are made differently, first if you want a sword that has a magic spell imbued to it, you have to make a sword made out of magic metal. After you make a sword made from magic metal, you have to imbue a magic spell into it. Imagine like programming something into a computer. However, magic swords that are made from normal metal needs to be activated with you own mana to make it work.
There are also Magic items, they are similar to magic swords. Magic items are like convenient tools, for example, a magic lamp is a magic stone surrounded by glass with the ‘Light Attribute Magic’ spell ‘Light’ imbued into it. Another example is the magic item ‘Detect Presence’, magic items can also be imbued with skills and jobs, and this magic item is made of the Skill ‘Detect Presence’.
The most important part of a magic item is the magic stone. Magic stones are obtainable by killing certain monsters, goblins have magic stones in their body, however the only way to extract the stone is to dissect the goblin.
“Ya understood that?”, the dwarf said after his long explanation. I nodded signifying that I understood.
“Now let’s go to practice.”, Willow picked up some iron ore and passed it to me, at first it looked like a rock, however it was iron still not melted, it was cold to the touch and it wasn’t clean.
There was another reason I wanted to make my own sword, it is because I have a new type of magic that doesn’t exist in this world. I would we able to do many things with more skills and there was stuff I wanted to try.
You may be asking if this will help me with killing Ralph, the answer is yes and no, I am doing this because it might be helpful later.
Willow pointed to the furnace telling me to start making a sword. “Ya have to show me what ya can do with what I told ya, after that I’ll tell ya what ya have to do.”
I tried using the knowledge he just gave me and started making a sword.
I started heating the furnace, in had no idea how hot it would have to be. Since metal has a certain melt point, I would have to guess. I used the fan to make the fire stronger and picked up charcoal to keep the fire from extinguishing.

I picked up the iron ore and put it in the furnace, I would have to wait a long time until the iron ore would melt.
Willow was looking at me doing my work as if he were analyzing me and watching my every move.
I continued to increase the heat, since the status system exist, my physical strength is slightly above human. This would probably take me a long long time till it would start melting, I did not want to wait for a long time, so I started thinking about ways to skip the wait.
“Hey, Mr. Willow. How long will it take to melt?”, I asked since I couldn’t increase the heat any further. “First off, drop the formalities, just call me Willow. And it will depend on how strong the heat is.”, he shortly explained.
‘Okay, I will not wait that long.’, I thought, as I looked at the fire burn.
I tried fanning the flames harder trying to make it stronger, but it didn’t work. What if I used magic? I tried spreading normal mana over the fire, nothing happened.
“It’s useless to spread normal mana over the fire, unless ya have the skill ‘Fire Attribute Magic’.”, Willow said trying to tell me to give up.
However, I had ‘Dark Attribute Magic’ it might have a different effect if I spread ‘dark’ mana over, it was worth a shot.
I tried spreading ‘Dark Attribute Magic’ into the fire and it started reacting, the fire started to change color. It looked as if it was being contaminated. I do not know what abilities ‘Dark Attribute Magic’ has, the first spell I created was me actually joking around but this time I tried doing something and this is the outcome.
The fire turned black and started to get stronger, I could feel the flames moving accordingly to my mana, it was as if I could manipulate it. I tried to make the flames stronger, and they went according to my will. The iron ore started melting and started turning into a bright red liquid.
Willows eyes went wide open, as if it were the most impressive thing he had ever seen. “Was that a spell? What did ya do?”, Willow asked looking at the black flames increasing their heat.
It could be called a spell, since the only thing I did was speed my mana over the flames and the they started turning black. I will call this spell ‘Mana Corruption’.
“Yes, it was.”, I answered without saying too many details. “I’ve never seen one like this one before.”, Willow said in amazement trying to analyze my spell.
I poured the melted iron into a mold of a sword and then used my mana to cool it down. Since the heat was contaminated with my mana, I could still manipulate it.
The dwarf Willow was looking intently at the iron. “Could you possibly get rid of the impurities of the iron?”, Willow asked. “No, unfortunately not. The mana has spread itself in the heat not in the metal and I can’t identify the impurities.”, I said.
I was not manipulating the metal, but the heat in the metal, for me to manipulate the metal, I would need more mana to be able to forcibly manipulate it while it’s in liquid shape.
