“In a couple of months we’ll be going on a field trip, so please do not forget to fill out the formula beforehand.”, the teacher announced and the students started chatting with each other almost immediately.

‘Again? They do this every year! Why do we have to go on field trips, I would rather study instead of having to go hiking!’, I cursed on my desk.

I was way too lazy to do something productive unless It would benefit me in any way, shape or form.

“That’s all for today, you’re all dismissed.”, the teacher said, and the students stood up from their chairs and made their leave. ‘Finally! I can go home now!’, I cheered in my mind.

But, before I could leave the teacher turned around and said “Not you, you have a meeting today, I would like you to wait until your coach arrives.”, the teacher said with a sharp look.

‘Are you kidding me. Now, I have to stay longer?’, I cursed before leaving the classroom. “Okay but can I at the very least wait downstairs.”, I said and the teacher nodded. “Make sure you don’t come too late.”, the teacher warned me.

I left the classroom and headed towards the library, in there I found three people in my favorite spot to read. ‘Who dares to enter my territory!’, I cursed in my mind, I however chose to ignore them and chose a new spot.

I could not bother to annoy someone just because they were in a place that I liked, it would be too much of a pain to bother.

I picked up a manga and started reading, I spent a couple of minutes reading. I had already read this manga over and over, I was really just trying to waste time at this point.

“Hello there.”, a guy that I recognized came and sat down next to me. “Hey… it’s you.”, yep I do not remember his name, but I did know that I spent a good amount of time chatting with him.

“You’re reading the same manga again, I see.”, he said referencing to the manga I was holding on my hands. “Yeah, is there a problem?”, I asked.

“Ah! No there isn’t but is there no particular reason that you read the same thing everyday?”, we talked together every single day, it came to the point where he knew where I would be every single lunch time.

“It’s because the rest of the mangas here are thrash.”, I responded coldly not paying much attention. The guy (whose name I didn’t know) picked up the same manga as me and started reading it.

“If you like to read it that much, then it means its good right?”, he said with a smile. ‘Ugh, I hate these types of people, but I guess he isn’t too bad.’, I evaluated him.

He’s the type of person who’d make you feel bad because of how nice he is. “Good question.”, I responded to his sentence.

“Well, I think it’s good.”, he gave his opinion about the manga. “Really? The main protagonist is way too bland, it’s like your average hero. And he’s way TOO predictable.”, I gave my opinion as well.

“Now that I look at it, you’re right.”, he said placing back the manga. “So, what are you going to do today?”, he asked.

“I’m going to hell for probably thirty minutes up to three hours and then I’m going to try and escape.”, I gave him a vague answer. “So, pretty much you have a meeting today?”, he found out the true meaning of my sarcastic joke.

He talked with me everyday in the library, but I do not know whether I could recognize him as a ‘friend’. “Are you Sherlock or something?”, I asked him.

“It’s because you’re my friend.”, he gave me the most vague answer I’ve ever heard. It was like listening to my little pony talk about friendship.

“Define ‘Friend’.”, I made another joke. I didn’t believe he was my friend, I barely knew his name. “You’re way too pessimistic.”, he said scratching his head.

“And you’re way too optimistic.”, I told him. “Haha! I guess you’re right.”, he laughed it up. I stood up and returned the manga. “I have to go now.”, I told him, and he nodded.

“I’ll see you tomorrow.”, he said his goodbye. “I sure hope I don’t.”, I left the library and went towards the classroom again and had a three-hour long conversation with my coach and my mother.

“You need to get better grades!”, my mother told me. “If you don’t get any better, I’ll have to take your stuff away!”, she threatened me. “But, mom I’m already average, I don’t need to get any better.”, I said, but she ignored me and made a three hour long dialogue about studying.

‘My god! It’s impossible to have a conversation with this woman!’, it was always like this, I do one mistake and she goes on talking about how harsh life is, it’s like and endless cycle. If I got good grades she would just congratulate me and then continue her day like nothing had happened.

We arrived at home, I saw my father in the kitchen drinking again. “Do you know no self restrain?!”, and here my mother and father started arguing again, if you call what they are doing arguing.

I ignored their rambling and went to my so called ‘room’ and watched my seasonal anime, I could not care less what they did. It’s my parents choice to do what they want, because I never have a say in the matter.

I looked outside the window, the sun was radiating inside the room. ‘The sun…. my biggest enemy!’, I closed down the curtains before I turned to ash like a vampire and lied back down on my bed and fell asleep.

I woke up and started my day once again, I put my clothes on. I checked whether my existence was still relevant, and the answer was no as always.

I checked my phone, and as always, no messages, no notifications, and no battery! “Damn it, I forgot to charge it.”, I started charging my phone with my charger, and went to the kitchen to make breakfast.

When I say ‘breakfast’, I mean anything as long as it’s edible. I didn’t know how to cook, I only knew some recipes but they were useless since I never have the ingredients.

I picked up a box of cereal and devoured it like there was no tomorrow, just kidding. But I did eat the whole box.

I looked at the clock and noticed that I had one hour and a half until school started, I put the empty box of cereal in the trash bin and picked up my phone and left home.

‘If my calculations are correct, I should be able to have an hour to study for the test today.”, I thought as I walked to school, my parents were poor so I didn’t have the privilege to go on the bus. But, I didn’t mind. I was used to it.

While I was making self-dialogues and thinking about random things, I realized that I had already reached my schools front entrance.

‘I got sidetracked the whole way over here and I instinctively reached my school.’, I reached to a conclusion.

I entered the school and walked down the long hallways that felt like they would lead me nowhere, I found my classroom and stood in front of the door. I steeled my resolve to survive one more day without getting bored to death and opened the door.

The classroom was empty, not even a single soul to be seen as far as the eye can see. The only thing that felt out of place, was the shadow of a person lurking in the distance. That person’s existence was so thin that you would think that looking away for a single second would make them disappear.

The shadow moved its head towards the sound of the door being shut, with that single movement, the sun started it spread itself all over the room.

The shadow revealed itself to be a girl, she had long black hair and black colored eyes. She was wearing our school uniform meaning that she is a student at this school.

I froze for a second, but I snapped out of it and just sat down on my seat ignoring the girl. I pulled out some sheets of paper and started working on them. I had thirty minutes to work on them, and I could not waste a single second.

“Don’t you think it’s useless?”, the girl suddenly spoke, at first, I thought it was directed to someone else, but I was the only one in the room.

“Huh?”, I said confused not exactly understanding her question. “It will all amount to nothing in the end, all of your work. Then, why do it?”, she clarified her question.

I thought for a couple of seconds for an answer, the empty room gave me more peace of mind to think. “Well, maybe your right…”, I gave her the only answer I could think of. At this point, I’m just repeating the same thing over and over, and lying to myself saying that this is for my future.

“Then, why are you still continuing?”, the girl asked once again, her eyes were dead as if she had lost hope in everything. “Hmm… If I had to say, then I am hoping that it will amount to ‘something’.”, I offered her a vague answer and she slightly inclined her head in confusion.

“What if you fail reaching what you’re hoping for?”, the girl asked curious to what my answer would be. I felt my heart beating hard by how many questions she is asking. “Then, I’ll try again.”, I answered

“… and what if you fail at it again?”, I could not read the girls expression any longer. “I’ll try again, until I achieve what I want.”, I gave her the same answer as before.

The girl who was standing next to the windows walked towards me and looked at me in the eyes. “You wouldn’t give up? You won’t even get depressed for failing so much?”, the girl’s voice made itself loud and clear.

“Of course, I’ll get depressed, and sometimes the thought of wanting to give up will reach my mind.”, I answered her, and she suddenly grabbed my collar. “Then why don’t you…”

“Because I have to move on.”, I guessed what she would say and answered. “Sometimes I’ll get frustrated and sometimes I’ll be feeling like giving up, but I have to move on.”

I believed that I should always move on forward, because I knew if I gave up, then there would be no reason for living. “That’s foolish…”, the girls voice trembled, her eyes were wavering in fear.

“If you would fail over and over, and you’d still move on. Eventually, you will realize that there are no chances of you succeeding and then fail again and give up on everything and never reaching anything.”, the girl said and released me from her grip.

“Yes, I know.”, I answered to her sudden outburst. “Then, why do you still keep going?”, the girl asked in a small voice.

“Because I cannot stand doing nothing, even knowing that the chances are low, but they are never zero. If I end up making ‘something’, then I’m satisfied.”, the girl suddenly started crying.

“Hey, what’s wrong?”, I looked at her worried, not knowing what to do. “Was it something I said?”, I asked, and then she suddenly hugged me tightly, I could feel her breasts touching me and her face burying in my chest.

“No, it’s nothing…”, the girl responded in hoarse voice. “Uhm… we were talking about school, right?”, I felt my heart beating really fast, I couldn’t just shove away a crying girl.

After a little while, the girl stopped crying. “uh, could you please unhand me?”, I asked the girl who was still holding onto me. She slowly reached out to my ear and whispered something to me and left.

The girl left the classroom and ever since then, I had never seen her again. She was weird girl in my memory, but what was even weirder was what she had whispered to me.

“Would you please save me.”

“Master. Are you awake?”, a soft and reassuring voice in the not so far distance asked.

I felt a soft sensation on the back of my head, I slowly opened my eyes and saw Athena looking at me with her silver eyes. “Good morning...”, was the first thing I said.

“Good morning, Master.”, she said in return as well. “To think I’d be graced with your lap pillow this morning, I couldn’t feel more blessed than right now.”, I tried teasing her even though I myself was feeling quite embarrassed.

“Don’t tease me like that.”, she said trying to hide her embarrassment. “I had a weird dream.”, I recalled the dream I had to forget about the feeling under my head.

“A dream?”, Athena asked curiously. “Yeah, I don’t remember it though. I can only remember certain scenes from it.”, I tried remembering my dream, but I couldn’t recall anything other than that ‘girl’.

“Is that so, Master.”, she said not prying any further.

We were currently in the country of Zeltram, we were able to pass the border without any problems. We had Azure use ‘Body Form Manipulation’ to make herself as small as possible and hide, I made myself invisible by deactivating ‘Materialization’.

“You sure do sleep a lot.”, Alice sitting next to Willow on the driver’s seat said. “Don’t blame me, I haven’t recovered my ‘Spirit Form’ yet.”, I told her.

My spirit was heavily damaged, but I was lucky that at that moment my Skill had evolved into ‘Soul Form’. I had to materialize my soul form which remained untouched to be able to move at all.

However, the Skill ‘Soul Form’ has a huge flaw that I cannot overlook. If my Soul is damaged my attribute values are going to decrease as well, since the soul is the core of ones being, it could also be described as the core where all the information is stored about the individual and that includes the skills and Attributes as well.

That’s why I had to let my body rest so that I could recover my ‘Spirit Form’. It is too risky to use my ‘Soul Form’ at all times.

My appearance didn’t change much, the only difference is that while in ‘Soul Form’ my ‘Dark Aura’ is oozing out of me constantly or was it something different?

“I was kind of surprised when I found out that that girl is a slime.”, Alice said patting the blue slime on her lap. “Master! This lady is really nice!”, Azure in her Slime form said.

“You’re not scared that she’s a slime?”, I asked. In this world slimes are monsters that disintegrate their enemies by swallowing them whole, I wouldn’t be surprised if she were terrified. “I don’t judge a book by its cover.”, Alice responded.

‘Then, why is there a cover at all? Apologize to the graphic artist!’, I thought. Alice wasn’t the type of person to judge people by what they are, but by what they do.

“You’re more surprised that she’s a slime, and not that I’m a ghost?”, well I’m not exactly a ghost anymore though. “You do look dead, so I just guessed.”, Alice insulted me.

“Ouch, that one just straight up hurts”, I said jokingly with my emotionless voice ignoring her remark. “At the very least you don’t treat me like a monster.”, I muttered a little happy that she didn’t treat me like I thought she might’ve.

“At first, I thought you were a half-elf, because of your pointy ears.”, she said looking at my hair covering my ears. “I’m sorry that I disappointed you.”, I told her.

“Where’s our first destination?”, I asked Willow. “I don’t know much about Zeltram, but I think we’re close to a town.”, Willow answered.

‘You think?’, I thought a little concerned about our driver’s expertise. One of the thing I had to do in Zeltram was find the twins who had been sold as slaves.

“Master, are you feeling better?”, Athena’s soft voice asked out of nowhere. I realized I was still having a lap pillow and got a little flustered again.

However, I still thought about her question. Did she mean about my health? Or anything else? I only knew one answer as of right now.

“Yes, I feel little bit better.”
