Chapter 5: Interlude 2 — A weaker and weaker chain!

“Run!!, there are too many of them!!”

“Withdrawn!!”

Several screams coming from human knights could be heard throughout the forest. I assumed that they had been ambushed by various monsters.

I tried to materialize my human form, but it was useless. A feeling of helplessness began to grow inside me.

So close! If only I could go where they are…

Angry, I kept trying to materialize, but without a candidate to serve as my anchor, I couldn't use much of my power, no matter how much I wanted to.

Damn limit!

After various minutes, the forest was completely silent. Those human knights were already dead.

Shit!

In the last few days, numerous groups of humans have started to come here with the aim of exploring and taking various resources from this forest. Fortunately for me, in the place where I am, there is enough of that golden material that they were taking in large quantities.

Relaxing, I abandoned the idea of materializing and began to analyze the situation. 

Why did so many candidates start appearing overnight? I mean, it's not something that bothers me, but I found this sudden change strange.

Checking the forest surroundings with my range of vision. I noticed that I could see more meters than before.

Yes! I can already see over 7000 meters away.

Without using any magic, I was already able to surpass my previous personal best of 6200 meters. I had become a great observer, although due to some obstacles such as the giant rocks in the forest, my vision was hindered.

There were more and more human corpses nearby in the direction of where I am. The monsters' appearance is increasingly gruesome, since they evolved by consuming the corpses of their human prey. 

The rhythm in which all these events take place was interesting to me because I had several doubts regarding the model or type of armor used by those subjects.

As I was thinking and remembering all these things, a great idea popped into my mind.

What if I use my telepathy to get them there faster?

Previously, I was leaving everything to chance, perhaps because of the excitement of the moment, I did not reflect well on ideas that would make it easier to find me. I had numerous monster lairs near me, but with some good indications…
