It wasn’t until the emperor sat down that everyone in the audience sat down. The Minister of Justice politely bowed to the emperor and declared the start of the trial.

“Then we will begin the trial. First the Investigator, Sir Leonard, I want you to start the interrogation…”

At the same time, Kyle stood up from his seat. Unlike usual, Kyle was wearing a uniform. The man from yesterday who had talked about trivial things with her was gone, and the investigator, who had no emotions was here as Kyle asked the first question coldly.

“Eleonora Asil, are you the one who stole the dragon’s eggs and imprinted the dragon?”

“Yes.”

“The reason you tried to reconnect with Yulem was to test the dragon’s magic, right?”

“Yes.”

“Was the train to Edman and Angelic’s Yulem terror incident related?”

“No. The Yulems attacked me first for the dragon, and at that point the contract with Yulem was void.”

The questions Kyle asked were similar to the ones that were asked in the interrogation room a few days ago. Noah’s reaction was much calmer this time. As Noah admitted her crimes without much defiance and answered obediently, there was a small murmur in the audience.

Kyle asked a few more questions that had been in the script, and then he finally asked for the sentence.

“….Therefore, I would like to sentence the defendant to five years in prison and 1,000 hours of community service thereafter. “

Next was Noah’s lawyer’s turn to defend. The lawyer spoke without hesitation.

“Your Honor, I know that the defendant’s crime cannot be easily forgiven, but please consider that she has fully reflected on it, that the crime was not intended to cause harm to Laurent, and that it was that the dragon Muel that chose to imprint her.”

The hundred handwritten reflections that Noah had written over the past five days was delivered to the judge. The judge looked over her reflections and nodded.

“Defendant, Is there anything you want to say?”

This was the last line. After Noah said, ‘I’m really sorry. I will live this life of sacrifice for the Laurent Empire from now on,” her role would be over, and then the judge would make a ruling, and the trial would be over.

Noah was just about to open her mouth to reply when there was an interruption.

The door of the courtroom opened, unannounced. Everyone’s eyes, including Noah’s, turned to look at the door.

It was an investigator that had opened the door without permission. When Noah cast a questioning look at Kyle, she saw he had raised his eyebrows as if he was not expecting the interruption.

“Paul, what’s going on?”

“That’s … “

Paul quickly approached Kyle and whispered something to him.  Noah nervously clenched her fist when she saw Kyle’s face harden.

‘What was going on?’

“…….”

Kyle frowned and then flipped through the documents, but he quickly rose from his seat and approached the podium where the judge sat. Kyle’s conversation with the judge did not last long, but what they talked about seemed unexpected as the judge had a surprised look on his face as he spoke to Kyle.

After a few seconds of silence, Kyle moved back to his seat.

The judge declared in a low voice.

“We will allow the witness to appear.”

“Witness …?”

A witness was not in the script Noah had received. Noah turned her head to look at the door in confusion.

The door opened again and someone’s foot appeared in the courtroom. Then the rest of the person followed…

Blonde hair. Noah made a sound in surprise.

“Oh, him.”

There was only one blonde person Noah knew. The confusion quickly turned into embarrassment. Noah jumped from her seat.

“You stalker!”

The man who had entered the courtroom was Adrian Rossinel. The man who had annoyed Noah on the train, it turned out, was the minister of magic.

The man who was dressed plainly, in a white shirt and gray pants, entered without hesitation and stood in the witness stand. Adrian stood on the left across from the judge.

Noah shot back fiercely, anger showing in her expression.

“What are you doing all of a sudden?”

“Defendant, be quiet.”

The judge stopped Noah. She sat down again, frowning in anger.

As if Adrian knew, he looked at Noah and smiled. When Noah saw Adrian’s face smiling as if he was trying to charm someone, she quickly became anxious. What was he going to say here??

“Respect to the judge.”

Adrian’s first words fell smoothly.

“All of Laurent’s wizards are under my control. So far, I’ve safeguarded against Eleonora Asil’s inherently magical talent, but this was a high-risk crime that she can’t get away with, and sure enough, there’s nothing wrong with the sentence you’ve asked for. Therefore, I would like to testify a few things as the head of the magic department to help your decision.”
