Noah entered the hallway squeezing her wet hair. The hallway was filled with colorful wallpaper and bright lights, but it felt cold because it had been a long time since anyone had been there.

‘…I’ve got a headache’

Will I be able to sleep today? From tomorrow, I will have to leave the house due to my sentence even if I don’t want to. (Let’s not forget, she’s a famous criminal).

Noah thought this as she headed toward the stairs to look around the hall. Noah heard the sound of voices and saw that Kyle and Muel were coming in her direction whilst talking.

“Don’t surprise Noah. More than 80% of this was your fault.”

“But Noah had not come, even after three days.”

“Why on earth can’t a dragon that has a lifespan of over 5,000 years wait for longer than three days before causing trouble? Learn some patience, Muel.”

Muel started to argue, but punishment was promised. So Muel attempted to bite Kyle’s arm, but he pushed Muel’s small head away quickly. Kyle finally realised Noah was there.

As she stood and stared at him, Kyle raised his eyebrows.

“What are you looking at? Hurry up and go in.”

“Oh, yeah.”

As Noah walked back into the room, Kyle put down Muel and sat her down at the table. Immediately a bowl of hot stew and freshly baked bread was placed on the table. Noah mumbled a little embarrassed.

“I wasn’t really asking you to cook dinner.”

“You said you’d eat it if I cooked it for you.”

Kyle said, as if it wasn’t a joke, and pulled out a chair to sit next to her. Noah had expected that he would sit across from her but was proved wrong.

“Why … why?”

“Don’t worry about it. You have 30 minutes left until eight.”

Whilst Noah made an unhappy face, Kyle passed her a spoon. She took the spoon and scooped up some of the stew.

Kyle’s ability to produce a wonderful taste with poor ingredients shone again this time, so Noah immediately forgot all the worries and random thoughts she had once she took another bite. Ah, suddenly Noah felt good. What is a successful life? If you can eat delicious food, sleep well, see and hear good things, that’s a successful life…!

“Officer, just live with me. I’ll give you twice the annual salary of an investigator.”

“You still haven’t given up on that dream. You should wake up now.”

“Then teach me how to cook. Then I will cook for myself.”

“You’re going to cook by yourself?”

Kyle laughed dryly, and Noah turned her head in anger as she was unable to refute a word. Noah saw that Kyle was looking at her.

“……?”

Where is he looking? Noah tilted her head and moved her hand where his eyes were. It was a little lower than my face. Under my chin…. Neck?

Her fingers touched cold metal. Only then did she remember.

“Ah, neck. “

Kyle still seemed to care about the restraint on her neck. As Noah touched the restriction without much thought, he immediately caught her hand. Kyle, who held her hand and placed it on the table, spoke in a rather uncomfortable tone.

“Don’t touch it. You’re injured.”

“Injured?”

Despite Kyle’s warning, as soon as Noah heard that there was a wound, her other hand naturally went up to her neck. Come to think of it, the area around her neck stung a little when she had washed up.

As Noah continued to touch it, Kyle rose from his seat with a slight frown. He grabbed her hand to stop her then placed a spoon in her hand whilst going to a nearby drawer and beginning to rummage.

Noah felt itchy when she heard that there was a wound, so she touched her neck again, and a strict warning came.

“Don’t touch it. Just keep eating. I’ll put some medicine on you.”

“Am I injured, Muel?”

As she stuck her neck out to Muel, who was nibbling on the heated milk and bread sitting next to her, Muel, looked at it for a while and then nodded.

“It isn’t bleeding, but it’s red. Does it hurt, Noah?”

“It just stings a little.”

“I don’t like that yellow-haired guy.”

Muel pouted. Noah handed over some bread to Muel before he said anything crazy about wanting to kill him again. In the meantime, Kyle found a medicine bottle from somewhere and sat next to her.

“There are 20 minutes left to eat, Miss Noah. I’ll be leaving in 20 minutes.”

“… I’m so scared that I can’t live. If you’re going, go. I can sleep alone.”

Noah replied and then picked up the spoon again and stirred the stew. Noah was about to scoop up some stew and take it to her mouth when she felt fingers brush her neck.

“……!”

Noah almost dropped the spoon.
