Samnaeth School is the best school in Chaepyra City.
My dream was to be popular, so I studied hard and ended up being number one in school.
But it didn't work, apparently they don't like nerds here.
I played sports until I was the best but it didn't work out.
A boy named Leo stole all the attention for him.
He's tall and good-looking; everyone likes him.
I tried to become his friend, but he ignored me as if I wasn't there.
His family owns a lot of businesses so he has many friends from other families too. So he is always surrounded by people.
I've been trying to change my luck for months, but nothing has happened yet.
“You still haven't given up on being popular,” a girl called out to me.
Her name was Elizabeth.
Elizabeth was the leader of the athletics group.
She was one of the only ones who didn't fall for Leo's good looks.
She was a blonde, athletic girl with blue eyes. She had a very friendly smile.
“No, I'm not giving up yet,” I answered back.
“Why are you wasting your time? You should focus on what you can do.”
I looked away and sighed.
“I want to be popular.”
“There's more than one reason why you're in school!” she said with a laugh.
I smiled at her.
“If I don't become popular today, I'll give up.”
This wasn't going how I wanted it to go.
The day passed slowly, until it was finally time for lunch break.
“Good afternoon, students! Please take your seats.”
Seda gave a quick speech before we headed off to our first class.
Everyone rushed to their seat and took out their books.
I did exactly that, except for two things: I was late, and I forgot my book bag.
Then I saw a girl running towards me.
“Oh no! I'm so sorry, I totally forgot my book bag!” I yelled out.
“Don't worry about it. It's not big deal,” she answered.
It was Elizabeth.
“Thank you so much. Now I won't have to get detention or anything like that.”
Elizabeth smiled at me and then ran off.
“Bye!” I called out after her.
After the morning classes were over, I headed towards the cafeteria.
“Welcome. Here is your food.” A boy handed me my plate.
He was one of the cooks. His name was Jaques.

“Thanks,” I replied.
Jaques gave a short bow. “My pleasure.” He chuckled.
I sat down next to Elizabeth.
“Hey, Elizabeth. You're always late.”
“Sorry, I had to talk to some people. Do you mind?”
“Not really. We're here anyway.”
We both started eating.
“How are you doing?” I asked her.
Elizabeth nodded, “I'm fine.”
Suddenly a hand touched my shoulder.
“What's up, Adriel?” Elizabeth turned around.
“Nothing, it's just...”
“You didn't manage to be popular.”
“Being popular was just a dream of a young me, so I will follow your advice and enjoy an ordinary life.”
Elizabeth laughed.
“Well, I'll leave you alone now.”
Elizabeth looked at me with a strange expression on her face.
Elizabeth moved away from Adriel and into a corner.
“After a long time, he finally gave up on that idea,” said Elizabeth.
“Yes, I was already afraid of him becoming a Casanova,” Professor Seda replied.
“It was difficult to hide the truth from him.”
“Yes, we managed with the help of the others.”
Elizabeth left with Seda.
They were still arguing when they reached a private room in the building's basement. The door opened before they could knock and they stepped inside. A woman dressed like an elf stood there holding a book open. She placed it on a desk once she saw them enter.
“Is phase 2 ready?” the elf replied.
“Yes, let's keep Adriel from going out with just any girl.”
“I'll be sure to inform the others,” said the elf, “Now I must return to my research.”
The elf bowed once more and disappeared through a doorway leading deeper into the building.
“You have done well,” said the professor, “We will use everything to our advantage now.”
Professor Seda picked up the book she had been reading earlier and held it out for Elizabeth.
“What is this?” asked Elizabeth.
“This is the key to the end of Adriel's curse,” replied Professor Seda, “Magic to lessen Adriel's charm.”"
With that Elizabeth opened her mouth slightly, but no words came out. She just stared at the book and smiled.
Professor Seda took the book from Elizabeth's hand.
“Good work,” said Professor Seda, “Everything is going according to plan.”
