⚠️  Like I told you the delivery is slightly off with this one and the rest on going chapters.

Oh, and heads up! I'm going  to based the personality of the MC as someone bipolar.

Well, that's the easiest ---- Bullshitest way to justify the sudden change of his mood. I'm basing my self on the MC and whenever I'm bored I write so you know what to expect: He's going to be a boring character Kekeke.

=================================

It's almost half an hour since we've been walking.

While we were at it, I listened as he spoke about some mystical stuff. He informed me about the uncanny onis and yokai. The old geezer's name is Mitsu Bishi, by the way.

He also spoke about oni-hunters.

They are a group of people who are actively hunting and slaying onis, he mentioned.

According to him, the oni-hunters were part of an organization shrouded in mystery; no one knows where they came from.

He added that these people wore black uniforms, carrying a sword on their waist as part of their identity.

He specified that oni-hunters are different from samurais. For the reason that it wasn't clear if they were working under any master.

Another difference he pointed out was that their sword appears more aesthetic than samurai's, as he saw they used some special-looking colored blade.

He told me that the people in the village he was from don't believe that oni-hunters exist. They were saying that it was just a silly superstition. They're even apprehensive and not convinced that these fearful creatures, like oni, exist.

But Mitsu Bishi old-man insisted that all these things he had told me about, truly exist because he had witnessed one.

'These 'oni hunters' is kinda familiar to me.'

I thought as I compared the information about 'demon slayers' from the anime back on earth and oni-hunters here in this world.

I remember it clearly that demon slayers wore black uniforms, used colored blades, and is also a secret organization.

"We're here."

While I was contemplating in my mind Mitsu Bishi, the old geezer spoke.

I saw an arched bridge made of planks overpassing a river from below and an open gate beyond it made of wooden structures.

I think it's called a torii gate.

'It seems I'm in a place similar to that of old Japanese.' I thought.

We walked over it and from the entrance I can see a sign written in hiragana on a board.

'Anata-no-Ikoinoba?' I read the sign in my mind.

I know what it meant. In English, it's translated as 'Your-Resting-Place'. I learned how to read and speak Japanese just so that I can enjoy watching raw Jap-anime without being bothered by looking at the subtitles.

'It looks like I've been influenced by her 'geek power' and it's by a huge margin at that.' I thought as I remembered 'that' woman.

At first, I believe that she was just a movie fan but it turns out she was more of an anime otaku.

She's the one who I had been hanging out with and is responsible for introducing me to the world of anime.

At first, I don't really have a good impression of animes.

Back then I thought 'anime' and 'cartoons' were the same. I didn't really like watching cartoons and so I was apprehensive about animes too.

Well, she changed my perspective. The first anime I watched was Charlotte. It was good.

'Now that I think about it. I won't be able to watch anime with her anymore, huh?'

"..." I stopped walking.

"What's wrong, young man?" The old man spoke to me with a curious expression.

"Ning!" Syri started cuddling on my neck.

"Hmm?" I hummed as I raised my brow towards the old geezer.

"... Is the basket heavy? It's okay now. I can carry it for—"

"No. It's not that." I cut the old man's speech.

"Oh…" I noticed that my vision was getting blurry.

I wiped my eyes with my fingers.

"I… I'm just happy to see a village. " I was flustered as I spoke hastily finding an excuse.

"It's been a long time since I've seen one you see. Ha ha ha." I continued and petted Syri to respond to her intimate action earlier while I released an awkward laugh.

"..."

'Now that I realize it why was I so calm back then? I was even too familiar with that 'King' guy. I could have wished — specifically stated my desire to have Erica as my wife. Then I wouldn't have been missing her by now.'

I questioned my previous self's actions towards those ROBs.

*Shake*

I shook my head to remove the thought. My emotions swing a lot these days. I'm like a woman in the making.

'Haaah' I sighed deeply to compose myself.

We were nearing the entrance

I look around to observe the village before me as we passed the torri gate.

The pavements are cemented. It's not nearly as smooth as modern asphalt because it has obvious rough edges all over the area.

The housing infrastructures are made of wooden materials. The design is similar to that of traditional Japanese houses. I see the main ridge of the roof, the highest section of the house is omune.

(A/N: I googled –

In Japan, the form of the roof has an "omune" (horizontal section) at the highest point and has a rectangular flat form. )

There was a tree that had pink leaves growing in it. I believe it was called a Sakura tree. Sakura trees were planted in some houses.

'I wonder why people like to hang out and enjoy the 'Sakura viewing' in Japan which I saw on the internet back then.

But now, I understand it. It's wonderful. It has that 'kind' and 'peaceful' atmosphere it brings.' I thought as I enjoyed the view. It made me a little bit calmer now.

I can see people wearing kimonos as they were busily walking in the streets. Men had the plain design. While women's had flowery paintings in their clothes.

As we entered, some people noticed us. They looked in our direction with curious gazes plastered on their faces.

I can hear people whispering with their companions as they look at us.

Someone pointed in our direction. No more specifically, the woman was pointing at my shoulders.

"Ning!" Syri sounded as she scuffled and went inside my jacket.

Her face pops out from the opening of the chest area.

Syri must've noticed the gazes of the people were on her.

'Look who's shy?' I thought as I patted the head of the fox which had her ears clipped.

She didn't want too much attention on herself, I see.

I'm fine with her staying there but…

"Syri? Why didn't you go in my pocket?"

I asked. When I changed my clothes earlier I didn't remove the pocket design.

She is an unusual fox so I knew this would happen. People would direct their curious gazes at her so I kept the pocket for her to stay there. But I didn't expect she would go inside my jacket.

"Ning!" Syri made an irritating noise as she look away, moving her head to the side.

'She's pouting?' I thought.

"Keke~" I patted her head one last time and then moved on.

We walk for 10 minutes and came near a shabby-looking house.

"It's here." Mitsu Bishi old man guided me.

"Mn." I nodded and followed after him.

We went inside a stable.

"Place it there, young man."

I put the basket down.

"Thanks for the help. I really appreciate it." He did a slight bow in gratitude.

"It's alright. No problem." I gave him a thumbs-up.

"Come inside the house, young man. I'll brew some tea." He signaled his head to come inside the house.

I was about to take another step and follow on but I stopped.

"..." I was silent and thought for a while.

'I don't know if it's a good idea to accept that.'

I've seen a lot of plot twist where kind people turns out to be a villain or something, so I was kinda being suspicious about the offer.

Since I am new here and don't know anything about the man it's just natural to be more cautious right?

Facing the old man, he was looking at me and once again signaling to come inside the house.

I took a bit of hesitation and then,

"... I would gladly take your offer. "I replied with a smile.

It would be stupid for me to be wary now since I'm the one who initiated contact with the old man. Well, I'll just have to accept the goodwill and stay vigilant if ever something looks out of place, then I'll react.

No matter how kind he looks outwardly, who knows he may hiding something else.

"Pardon the intrusion," I said as I walk to the entrance of the house, removing my sandals first before I came inside.

(A/N: Just so you know the information about Demon Slayers that is being shown here might or might not be accurate. I'm just referring to what I've comprehended about them from watching the anime. I do search on wikis and read them but all of the information doesn't automatically register in my head.

Note that I'm also making up things about the housing structures in this village. I'm not a native Japanese and I know that is not an excuse. So I'm just gonna use the power of BS.

I just skim and don't read it again. It's a chore. I'm stupid and a lazy bum. )
