'In a village market, a young man with unkempt black hair, brown eyes, pale face wearing a red almost but not too shabby hakama and a white jacket was working nonstop in a Dango stand. His get-up was similar to Rurouni Kenshin. This young man's name was Shin.'

That's fucking right fuckers It's me Shin. I'm looking at myself objectively. Not in a literal 3rd POV but I can imagine myself in that perspective.

Oh, about my cloth though, I timed it to slowly change into something presentable, not into something new but just doesn't look shabby anymore. No one seemed to notice so it's fine.

My hands right now are moving speedily as fast as your neighbors when they run and hide against debt collectors. I flicked the wooden sticks held in the spaces of my fingers like how a ninja uses several kunai, piercing straight at the center of the Dango balls into pairs of threes that I tossed in the air.

After this was done I let the skewers fall in line with the wooden plate placed in my palm and smoothly caught the raw Dangos.

Done with the circus-like action, I placed the skewers, perfectly lined up on the grill as it made sizzling sounds of Dango being cooked.

*Clap Clap Clap*

""Woah!""

I heard the raging claps and the excited sound of the people that were somehow crowding in front of this Dango stand.

Yes, the people can see me. My boss-lady, the one who outplayed me earlier purposely removed the cover. Now I'm out in the open for people to watch.

So after hearing their cheers —

I made a bowing motion, making my head slightly inclined forwards like how professional performers do after a great performance.

"Fuck you. Fuck you." I raised my hand in the hair and took a wave from the crowd as I responded to their awes saying it with a calm tone.

People in this village don't know what that meant. Taking advantage of that, I took my displeasure towards the unsuspecting people while I was giving them a handsome smile accompanied by a sharp ding sound from my canine tooth that mysteriously shined whenever I took a smile.

"Ara ~ Fufufufu why are being so mean to them?" I heard the melodious voice coming from the woman, who was the owner of this Dango stand.

"..." I didn't reply to her and just outright ignored her comment. I continue to focus on my task.

She was the only one who could understand the cuss I made towards the crowd for some reason.

I guess that she must've been raised in an environment where people use offensive words a lot. I'm not one to say myself because going with that logic, I too must've grown in that disposition.

But you know I'm not right? I'm good as f*ck boi.

. . . .

Okay! Okay! I'm just biased against her.

"Hey you're good at this why don't —" The woman, the vendor, was having the time of her life sitting in a chair with a paper parasol, shielding her skin from the rays of the sun, acting like a big boss spoke but I didn't let her finish what she had to say.

"Shut up. DARLING ❤" I replied in a flirty tone but deep inside I was pissed at her.

And I know she knew what I felt because —

"Ara ~ Why so pissed now? I thought you love me DARLING ❤?"

Yep. The woman knew what I am feeling and she took advantage of that and is trying to tease me right now.

Let me explain.

I'm not hung up on what transpired earlier, about how she made a point against me.

I had it coming and I know I was at fault for trying to dash after not paying out.

Nope, not against that. That would be too hypocritical of me if I hate her after starting it myself. I know I'm a hypocrite already. Well, all humans are. It can't be avoided it's in our nature to be like that.

I was pissed because of that —

Looking in the direction of the woman, I saw Syri sitting comfortably on her lap.

She was being fed by the woman holding a wooden tray filled with Dango.

"Ning!" She was making a delighted noise, wagging her tail. She continued to eat and there was a sauce spilled near her mouth.

Noticing that I was looking at them, Syri move her head and looked at me.

I gave a smile at that because she's looking very cute right now.

"Ning!"

She gave me the cold shoulder, looked away from me, snorted, and continued to eat the Dangos, from the woman.

"Ugh!" I felt betrayed. I felt my heart shattered to pieces by that action.

My dear companion was ignoring me.

Just because of that accursed woman.

"..." I sent an annoyed glare at the woman when her attention was not on me but Syri's.

.

.

.

Earlier when the woman was hugging me tightly, Syri was suffocated between our bodies.

I didn't hear her making a noise, it must've been smothered and couldn't let out.

Later then she came out of me and sent a punch in my face with her tiny paws to express her anger at what we did to her.

She too was about to give the woman her due fault but stopped.

Syri was fed by a Dango in her mouth. The woman was smart and made peace with Syri through her Dango.

Now I'm left alone.

'Haah' A defeated sigh escaped my mind.

As I waited for the Dango to be grilled, the woman strike a conversation with me.

"She's adorable. What is she?" She said with an excited voice while patting Syri.

"She is a fox," I replied in a neutral tone.

"A fox? Really?" She had a doubtful expression.

"Hn." I nodded.

"Are you sure? She's got nine tails you know?" Her eyes gleamed.

"What is it then if she had nine tails?" I asked. She was showing an expression that she knew something.

"Is she not a yokai? Normal foxes don't have nine tails." She said with a sure tone.

'A yokai again, huh?'

"Nah. She isn't. She's just a normal fox I swear… But hey, I want to ask…"

"Go on." She urged me to continue while patting Syri on her lap.

"Are they real… the yokai?" I asked with a curious tone.

"Hmm." She put her index finger on her cheeks contemplating something.

'That's cute actually… if only she isn't blonde.' I commented about her looks in my mind.

"It might be or might not be true… was that speaking crow considered as one? Or was a demon a yokai…" She murmured and made a thoughtful expression

'Demon?' I can pick up what she was saying since I am close to her about just 5 steps away and my ears are a bit sensitive.

"... I don't know. I'm not sure." Done with her time with her little world, she shrugged her shoulders and replied with an unsure tone.

"So you're saying that Syri is a yokai even though you hadn't seen one before?" I asked sarcastically.

"Now that you've said it. I don't know if they are real. I was raised by my parents teaching me about this stuff, so…" She gave me an empty smile, her eyes were hollowed. She was technically looking at me but her gaze was somewhere else.
