Chapter 83: Counterattack(2)

Nya and I were making our way to my secret arsenal. Since we were going to look for the airport that Amon uses for his planes, why not do it in style. I finished Nya's motorcycle some time ago but didn't have time to tell her. We entered and went to one of the many rooms I retrofitted with steel doors. In the middle of the room stood in all its beauty Nya's bike.

"Happy birthday! It's a little late but I hope you like my gift. I know we didn't have time for each other in the past few months, it's been hectic, with all the training and the preparation. What I'm trying to say is let's take some time off after all of this is over."

"It's never too late! Of course, I wanted to take some time off for a while now! Maybe a vacation in the Fire Nation, we could visit Kai and Zane?"

"I was thinking more along the lines of the Glacier Spirits Festival at the South Pole, but I will go wherever you want as long as it is with you."

While Nya was inspecting her gift I went and got from my stash some more explosives and a special device I've been working on. You can be too prepared. We hopped on the motorcycle and started to follow the planes that were going back to refuel.

We went across the city and into the wilderness following one, about twenty kilometers from the exit of the city, in the middle of a forest stood the airport. I took out my sniper and looked through the scope to see how many people were there. I counted about three hundred armed equalists protecting the compound, this was without taking into account the non-combatants that could at any time arm themselves and help. I got to say without the support of the new fire nation troops that would add to our ranks we would have no chance of taking over this place.

"We have their location, let's go back and help with the rescue operation."

On the other side of the city, pandemonium was ruling supreme. The ships were under heavy fire and could barely keep on. The fire nation soldiers were bravely holding on not wanting to give up, the fact that I told them about the incoming air assault made their job a little easier since now they knew what to expect.

We arrived at the docks where equalists were waiting for the tired benders to come to shore in order to capture them. I used my infrared goggles to look inside the vans and see how many people they captured. They were only a dozen or so bender chained there.

'I guess the others are doing their job properly.'

In the preparations that we made was also a tunnel at the bottom of the harbor that we use to save the soldiers. The extraction plan was for the troops to fall into the water and for the water benders at the bottom of the lake to help them get inside. The tunnel was a work of art, a miracle of modern engineering, and the bender that we saved in the three days of waiting made its construction simple and fast.

Nya and I approached the guards and knocked them out. We silently entered inside and started to free the prisoners.

"Are there any water benders or earth benders here?"

While I knew that they were part of the United Forces usually benders of different types wouldn't be on the same battalions, much less ships, I didn't expect to find anyone but then I saw a small slender hand rise.

While Nya stealthy took them away to the Underground City, I went with the water bender near the water and told her to make a water bubble and head down. She followed without asking any questions even though I could see the confusion on her face. We went further and further down and we finally saw the tunnel, the face she made at the sight of it was priceless.

We got near it and another water bender came wanting to help us thinking one of us was injured. When our water bubble connected I told him to call another two water bender over. It took less than two minutes for them to come over.

"Good, there are enough of you. Now for what I called all of you here. I want you to use your water bending to send me flying as hard as you can."

"Captain are you sure? I don't think the human body can withstand the pressure of all of us sending you up."

I nod and without any more questions, he gets into position, the others follow. Just before I go I hear the water bender that asked me if I can withstand the pressure say.

"May the spirits have mercy because I won't."

"May they look at my intentions, and be merciful when judging my actions."

I put my mask back on and give them the signal to launch me. Like a torpedo, I get out of the water in the middle of the fight. When I went to get Nya's bike I also took a prototype of an augment for my suit. While the math for it was solid this was the first time I would use it.

'Screw it, it either works or it doesn't'

I turn on the prototype and three pairs of devil-like wings come out of my back, spreading to my left and right. I entered in 'limbo state' and looked at the plane in front of me. The pilot looked bewildered, he knew about me and the fact that I was the one that started the wings trend. Up until now, they all thought I was only using the wings as a metaphor for freedom, they didn't think I would use the symbol I created to fly.
