“You ran away as if you knew I was coming. Madam.”

“The- there’s no way.”

My voice was like a fading candle in the air.

“How did you know?”

The sword’s sharp tip come under my chin and lifted my head.

It was then that my vision opened up and I could see the surroundings at a glance.

I couldn’t say anything because I was so surprised, and my eyes only widened.

‘This person is Grand Duke… Shiraz?’

Shiraz Rudkaev was looking straight down at me.

The first thing I thought was that the emerald-colored eyes with deep indigo blue were mysterious. It looked mysterious yet dangerous.

If we had met somewhere else, I would have stopped breathing for other reasons.

He has platinum blonde hair that appears moist as if it has been soaked in water and a solid figure that stretches all the way.

Oh My God. Was there any mention of Grand Duke Shiraz’s handsomeness in the original story? Why didn’t I know?

For a moment, I felt numb as if I had been hit in the head.

Grand Duke Shiraz also looked down at me, turning his sword to the other side as if observing me.

“Answer me. Or do you want to die too?”

His cold eyes mixed with contempt towards me.

“If I say I don’t want to die, will you let me live?”

What I was only thinking in my heart came out of my mouth without me realizing it.

For a brief moment, his eyes shook, as if he was taken aback by my response.

I looked up at him and considered what to do next.

No matter how hard I thought, the end result is death.

The soldiers around me began to murmur quietly, most likely because I was staring too intently at Grand Duke Shiraz.

“I did it after learning that my husband had sent a letter to General Marcus. I’ve been thinking about running away since then.”

I decided to tell the truth.

‘If I die here, I might go back to my present life.’

This thought gave me some comfort in being reckless, and I became rather aloof at the thought that ‘one way or another, you’re going to kill me anyway’.

“Just tell me the point. I will understand.”

I swallowed dry saliva once and opened my mouth again in response to his warning.

“Not long ago, I witnessed my husband kill a servant. The servant warned him not to betray Grand Duke Shiraz. And was killed by my husband.”

One of his lips raised slightly as if he know.

“He must have been one smart guy.”

“At that time, I realized that the letter my husband sent was about betraying the Grand Duke, so I planned to run away.”

The Grand Duke then lowered his sword and folded his arms slowly. It was a face that was interested in hearing what else I had to say.

I began to say the next thing calmly.

“He turned his back on the Grand Duke, so I thought this castle was over. I didn’t want to die because of my stupid husband, so I took advantage of today’s party, my husband’s birthday, and ran away.”

For some reason, the Grand Duke’s servants around me looked at me, rubbing their chins with admiration.

“How come you didn’t think Marcus would come first? Why did you take such a risk when you could have died running away?”

Grand Duke Shiraz looked at me with unwavering eyes.

“Marcus? Haa.”

His face hardened as a smirk escaped my lips.

I didn’t know where this reckless courage come from, my mouth began to move freely.

“He must be struggling to cover himself right now. Does the fact that people flock to you unconditionally make you stronger? It’s just giving you a headache.”

There was silence for a while.

“The Lords are now on his side, but they are only a lot in number. and the power won’t even be equal to a division of the Grand Duke’s army.”

This fact was already known.

When General Marcus stood up under the banner that he would punish the emperor’s murderer at the start of the original story, all the Lords who were afraid of Grand Duke Shiraz cheered for him.

Then, an internal conflict arises as a result of a disagreement between the lords who said they were doing good and General Marcus, who was shaken from within after losing a battle against Grand Duke Shiraz.

I didn’t talk about all this that was going to happen in the future, but I did say how foolish it would be to be on General Marcus’ side right now.

The eyes of those watching whether the answer from the mouth of a local Lord’s wife was quite impressive changed strangely.

Shiraz Rudkaev also looked at me with these eyes that said, ‘What the hell is this woman?’

I lowered my head to avoid his gaze.

His emerald-colored eyes, as cold as an ice lake, seemed to pierce my head, and I couldn’t look him in the eyes.

‘What is your identity. You can’t be the Lord’s wife. Where are you from?’

These words seemed to come from him at any time.

Instead, he let out a low laugh.

“It’s pretty good. If Willinger had had as much brains as his wife, he wouldn’t have been like that.”

He said as he pointed to Willinger’s body.

For some reason, Grand Duke Shiraz felt better and put the sword back to its sheath before walking out.

“Your Grace!”

His servants panicked at the unexpected reaction, and Huey followed Shiraz straight away.

“Save that woman. She is not stupid, so take her to do some chores.”

As I looked back at him and the soldiers leaving, my mind went blank.

‘Taking me? You’re taking me?’

I had never imagined such a development.

Soon after, two soldiers who were ordered from outside came to drag me away.

* * *

Fortunately or unfortunately, unlike the original story, I’m still alive. The problem was that it was a fly life.

Anyway, I couldn’t believe I was still alive even after making such reckless remarks in front of Grand Duke Shiraz.

As I was being led away by his army, I thought about it.

How was Grand Duke Shiraz able to get to the castle so quickly? In what ways was it different from the original story?

I didn’t know the answer, but I guessed it was some sort of butterfly effect.

I acted like Garnett Willinger while possessing her, but there must have been times when my personality was reflected.

Could it be that some things changed little by little in the part where I put my will and that these small changes added up to make a difference from the original story?

The assumptions went on endlessly, but one thing was certain.

Garnett, who I possessed, is still alive. And she was taken by the world’s most powerful villain.

The original story and contents have completely changed, and I have no idea how they will change again in the future.

“Phew… It’s all over the place.”

A sigh comes out of my mouth.

‘Even so, one extra won’t change the ending.’

That meant I had to escape Grand Duke Shiraz’s camp in order to live to the end.

I needed to get away from Grand Duke Shiraz, who was facing a disastrous ending. If I don’t want to be killed together with him.

‘I went through that hardship at Willinger’s castle. Phew… Why am I in a role where I have to fight to the death? Really.’

I wiped the tears away with my hands.

Fortunately, there was hope that it would be possible if I worked hard in the castle of the Lord, but now it was far away.

‘Your opponent isn’t that scumbag Willinger. It’s Shiraz, that Grand Duke Shiraz!’

The scale appears to have changed and the situation has become more complicated.

After feeling discouraged for a moment, I came to my senses and lifted my head.

‘Okay. It is said that even if you go into a tiger’s den, you must remain alert. There must be a solution. Let’s not be scared ahead of time.’

When you think you’re doomed in life, things sometimes work out in your favor.

Besides, there was nothing in this world that I couldn’t handle.

I also know the original story’s content, so in a way, I’m the strongest character in this novel.

So I gradually began to look around me, instilling confidence in myself.

If it was Grand Duke Shiraz, he would be a lead role equal to the male lead General Marcus in the original story. Therefore, the people around him were also treated with great importance.

‘Let’s take a look at who looks like who.’

When I first saw the villain Grand Duke Shiraz, it was shocking because he was so different from what I had imagined, so I looked at everyone one by one with secret anticipation.

A petite middle-aged man with gray hair. He appeared to be a scholar. Seeing him following Grand Duke Shiraz so closely…

‘That’s right. That’s his close aide, Huey!’

His cautious personality was indeed revealed on his face by his well-groomed eyes and straight lips.

‘Then that person…’

I narrowed my eyes, scanning all the characters in my mind.

A muscly and sharp figure with dark brown hair that appeared red. Big body. Anyone who saw him would know he was a skilled knight.

‘Is that the Knight Commander Mikhail? Or Count Aaron?’

I quickly shook my head.

‘No, Aaron had dark hair. Then it’s Mikhail!’

After a while, the pleasure of being able to match the character faded, and my eyes began to look for that person passionately.

‘Why can’t I see Aaron? I don’t see a handsome young man with black hair…’

I couldn’t find a man like Aaron no matter how hard I looked, so I quickly lost interest.

‘That’s right, they’re from the villain camp. In the end, I’m bound to die in the Grand Duke Shiraz’s hand.’

When I thought about it that way, I wondered what the point of it all was. We were not going to spend time together in hell.

‘By the way, where are they taking me? What will happen to me now?’

I gradually recalled the original story.

Garnett Willinger died early, so I wasn’t sure where they were taking me now.

However, the current situation could be predicted to be at the beginning of the original story.

When the news that the Willinger’s head was delivered to General Marcus’ camp, the Lords of each place trembled in shock.

They didn’t know when their necks would fly off, so their steps towards Marcus’ camp were slowing down.

Grand Duke Shiraz was already straightening up the battle lines in Isar Castle, which sprawls across a wide plain when the Lords who swore allegiance noticed.

He owned many castles throughout the empire, including the capital, which housed the imperial castle, as well as base castles in the east, west, south, north, and south.

Isar was the western stronghold castle.

‘Then I guess I’m on my way to Isar Castle in the west.’
