Chapter 4: Preparation

I am inside the library of the mansion reading books to expand my knowledge, it was hard at first, but it became much easier after being tutored about the language of this kingdom. Now that I think about it... How the hell was I able to speak to other people? The language was not anything like my world yet I was able to comprehend what they were saying... Gah! Whatever! I will solve it when I can solve it. Man after being able to have a moment to self reflect, many questions pop up, why did Miss Sonia took me as her disciple? Where was that place that I woke up in? Why did its entrance or rather its exit disappear? Is someone behind this? Many question filled my mind to the point I no longer deemed it suitable for me to remain inside the library. 

So I decided to practice alchemy. Alchemy is quite vague, from what I've seen in books so far, alchemy has always been used for making potions. However it is stated that using magic was a better alternative since it can be done immediately and you just need to wait for your mana to replenish instead of going to gather the herbs required for a potion. Nonetheless it still piqued my curiosity. I found out that there was a magic known as transmutation, a rather low level earth element magic, it seems that you can change the shape of dirt, rocks and so on but the limits of what can be manipulated is still unclear. 

Heh, looks like I have something to look forward to. After spending a few hours experimenting with the spell I proceeded to continue with my daily life.

"Young Master Draedon" I heard someone's voice from behind my rooms door, the door opened and I was presented with a maid with smooth silky lavender hair, pale white skin and dark purple eyes. This maid was rather petite with a rather small but noticeable size bust and small rear which made her radiate an aura of a young girl with unparalleled youth. Ah, what am I saying, this girl right here was Nouvemn she was the person who was assigned to be my personal maid the moment I entered the household. Apparently she was quite an amazing maid as the head maid was praising Nouvemn about how she was her pride and joy. According to the head maid, Nouvemn was an orphan whose parents were brutally murdered by a noble. The noble then proceeded to kidnap her and planned on selling her to some slave traders but Miss Sonia killed him as she was sent to his land to investigate him as he was suspected to be kidnapping his own citizens which turned out to be the case.

After that nasty event, she was taken in by Miss Sonia as a maid for the Solace Household in which she performed her role as a maid dutifully. Her background aside, I went over and opened the door wondering what she wanted.

"The Master wishes to see you on the training grounds," she informed me with a rather cold tone before walking to perform her duties. Training grounds? I can only see something bad happening I sigh after foreshadowing events that have yet to come. I arrived to see Sonia waiting patiently for me, she then turned in my direction before informing me of what was going to happen.

"Since we don't have time to get someone to train you with a sword or the like, we just have to stick to your magic for now," she announced before continuing.

"You are going to fight against me with magic, you should already have gotten the grasp of it right," she spoke, not caring about whether or not I was good at it, I would still have to duel her either way. 

We were facing each other about 100 meters away from each other, soon the battle is about to begin, I feel something rising in me but I pay no heed to it, my only thought was how I could defeat her. She is the principal of the academy I'm going to be transferred in, She is also famous, being known as the Archmage of the Kingdom. Soon the duel had begun, I immediately casted a fire ball, which was fended off by a barrier. Sonia was quite surprised, what I had done was casting magic from my hand instantly, no delay from moving mana to my hand or saying the incantation. What I had done was store the mana directly in my hand before hand which allowed me to skip the phase of moving the mana. As for not chanting the incantation? Well the incantation is meant to assist with the formation of spell but I was able to create the spell purely on mental visualization.

That was a task that was difficult for many magicians as they would not be able to visualize a spell during combat, but I was able to pull it of consistently. I ran around her casting fireballs, which were easily countered by a spell of her own. So I had to mix things up, I casted a spell again however I made an alteration to the spell, instead of fire ball it became 'Firebolt' in exchange for control I increased its speed and strength, Sonia still countered the spell like it was nothing though she was left impressed since I managed to alter a spell. Sonia who was still standing, not having moved a single inch from there then chanted, a spear of ice formed from her palm and fire it self, I managed to dodge it. I then rushed towards her, using magic to create a small rock and fire it at her. Sadly she blasted it away with a fire ball and proceeded to fire a barrage of fire balls at me.

I then felt something familiar growing within me, soon a burst of adrenaline ran through me as I felt more energetic. To Sonia's eyes she saw that my left eye had turned green and what seemed to be lightning coursing through my white hair and body. It was unexpected, she then saw me dodge the barrage of fire balls with high accuracy. However, she was unrelenting, she kept shooting fire balls intending to tire me out. As I was pondering about what actions to take in slow mo, I remembered about a spell that I made.

What is the first thing you think about when you hear about fire magic? Many would say about its high destructive power, manipulating strong flames to hurt enemies. This spell that I had created was not about flames, but rather the heat. I gather mana in both my hands as I shout out the name of the spell.

"Vapor freeze!" As I used the spell, many of the fireballs that was approaching me disappeared, no longer able to maintain itself due to not having high enough of a temperature. What the spell "Vapor Freeze" had done was it made my body absorb the surrounding heat in the air, making it cold fire makes the fireball vanish as all the heat immediately dispersed into the surrounding cool air. Witnessing this spectacle, Sonia ended the duel. Since I was able to hold my own against her even though she was holding back, she deemed that I am strong enough for the time being,

After that arduous duel, I went and took a shower, I was not only sweating from being nervous and using a lot of energy in the hot sun, my body was also hot due to the effects of 'Vapor Freeze' let me remind you of the Laws of Energy Conservation, no energy can be created or destroyed so the spell was basically making me absorb the heat from the surroundings at high speeds.

Anyways, after the first day of school is near, many people from aristocratic society will be there, and as a disciple of Sonia, he must not embarrass her, he thought as he went immediately to bed from the exhaustion of that fight, skipping dinner.
