Chapter 26: Special Training II

"Wow."

She said from the sidelines as I began to hold out my arm before me. Another small flame appeared in my hand and spun above my hand for a bit. Then join the rest of the flames in a carousel-like shape.

"You are surprisingly good at this. I'm glad that I found you."

She said in shock and I stared at her.

"Master Iffy, are you proud of me?"

I began to smile before she glared at me with anxiety brewing on her face.

"Well yes."

She paused for a moment.

"Though, it might be best for me to postpone your magical studies."

"Huh!?"

I said in shock and stood right in front of her.

"What do you mean by that?!"
"You're learning too fast. Way too fast indeed, that I can't teach you anything more."

I stared at her before sighing.

"Seriously? I thought you would know more about magic."

She sighed before chuckling.

"One month."

I tilted my head in confusion.

"One month from now I will take you to the city to find a suitable teacher for you."

She said and I began to hug her.

"Thank you! Thank you! You are an angel! No! No! You're a goddess! I love you! I love you! Can I grovel at your feet and lick them!? Because after all you must be tired and by licking them, your mood should be better!"

She stared at me.

"You should seriously fix that side of yourself."

She stared at her dark blue eyes had an intense disappointment swirling around inside of her.

"Yeah. But I was just joking."

I said before glancing off to the side.

"Oh yeah. I'm  a bit hungry."

She said as she ran her right hand down into the pocket of her jacket. She clenched up some restoration berries and swallowed them up before inhaling deeply.

"Huh. That's odd."

"What happened?"

Light blue energy appeared around her being as a smile rushed onto her face.

"I think I grew some more."

"Grew some more? What do you mean? You're still the same height. Or do you mean that bl-"

"Yeah. It's as I suspected. These restoration berries increase one's mana proficiency In addition to increasing one's limit to mana."

My eyes shot out in shock at this realization.

"Seriously!?"

"Yeah. I'm pretty sure that's why you can use magic. Despite hailing from a world that doesn't have magic in the first place, you obtained the ability to use magic from eating those berries."

"I see."

I nodded as I turned back to look at my flame.

"While these berries do in fact taste good. In fact a lot better than the food that I was accustomed to. I'd like to have some variety in my diet."

She said as she stared to the side. Her eyes instantly widened as they met the ground. She chuckled for a bit.

"Hey, Satsuki. Do you think you can live out here?"

I was confused by what she meant and turned back to glance at her.

"Well... Not exactly, but with enough training, I should be able to live out here."

She went through her pockets once again and handed me a dagger. It was an iron dagger that had a name etched onto the bottom of its hilt. I couldn't exactly read what the name said but I ran my fingers on the name.

"What's this?"

I said as I stared at her confused.

"It's my father's. He made it and used it quite a lot back in his day. Though, I never expected that he would give such a valuable thing to me."

I began to gulp.

"Are you sure you can trust me with such a thing! After all, it's your father's gift to you! What if I get the blade dirty!? Or even worse break it!? Your father might kill you if that happens!"

She humored the comment intensely before commenting.

"My father isn't a vengeful man. Plus, he wouldn't care about this blade getting injured after all it's just a thing and people like you matter more than just mere things."

I nodded. It kind of felt heartwarming.

"Alright! What will I have to do with this dagger?"

"The first thing you will have to do is kill yourself!"

I stared at her confused.

"Wh- What do you mean by that?!"

"It was just a joke."

I sighed.

"You're just so bad for my heart."
I commented.

"So what's the real task, boss?"
"Alright. See that rabbit over there. Kill him. Also, no magic!"

I glanced over to where her finger pointed before jumping toward the rabbit. I jumped onto him and slashed into his body before hearing a sigh.

"He's still alive. You should seriously look where you are stabbing."

I blinked before realizing that I was stabbing the dirt.

"Sorry. I'll try better this time."

I rushed after the rabbit. I pressed my foot against one of his limbs and cut his head clean off from his body.

"Good. Looks like you are learning how to fight. That's good. Though I don't want to see you confusing the ground for rabbits."

I chuckled.

"I'm not even sure how you confused those two things..."

'Yeah. Sorry. I blinked at the last moment.'

"Also, that stepping thing was pretty good. You should do that more. But you should only do it on things much weaker than you."

I nodded.

"Also, hunt 19 more rabbits before coming back to the house."

"19 more rabbits!? Where am I going to find them!?"

She chuckled.

"They like grass."

She said before walking away and I sighed.

"What the hell am I going to do now..."

I stored the rabbit's carcass in my inventory before beginning my journey to slaughter 19 rabbits.
